Beeswax foundation sheets
Переглядів 212 місяці тому
Foundation sheets seemed to not have enough wax on them and after first inspection of our new hives the bees seem extra slow drawing them out. We are just starting out but I’m sure every advantage to the bees will help. We used 1.3 pounds of wax to wax 25 foundation sheets. Cost about $0.80 cents per foundation.

Nice work!
I was reading comments while watching and felt some were not being fair to you. Then you showed sugar water pails on top of honey supers. There's no defending that. If bees can fill a super a week on canola, they can surely adulterate honey in a few days from buckets.
So I had pulled half my honey supers when I put the sugar water on as the main nectar flow was over where I had the bees on the canola. I pulled the other supers 2 days later which I think I mentioned in video(that was unfortunate and I probably should have just waited but I got called away). Since then I moved my bees to chase the nectar flow on a field phacelia and hairy vetch that was planted in June and won’t be cut till the end of September for swath grazing. As soon as I moved my bees I put the supers back on and pulled my pails. Anything they collected would have went into the top of the bottom two super as my queen excluder is above that I plan on leaving two supers to overwinter up here in the north. Does that make a little more sense, or would you still object to my logic ?
It seems delicious
ua-cam.com/video/tGD7CA12i-Y/v-deo.htmlsi=cPe2gt8YJYGXnrew For anyone that wants to educate themselves a little more I would say this fella lays it out pretty straight. Just because your honey is capped does not mean it’s dry and just because it’s not capped does not mean it’s wet. Trust your refractometer. As far as colour this is great light honey from along a creek with wild flower but bees also have access to canola fields so the honey will be more clear.
Dude, I highly recommend you to educate yourself on the matter first! BTW, this honey is not looking good.... 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
I am fairly educated on the matter, not sure what your comment means or what you see that’s not so good. Most of my frames are less than 10% uncapped and if I’ve checked the water content and it’s under 17% then from the resources I’ve talked to and read this honey should be good. This particular box I did pull early to test out some of the equipment but again I was diligent on checking water content. Your comment seemed more pointed than helpful in my mind.
@@pfckamphuis9298 The honey looks good. I appreciate a hardworking man. I wish you all the best!
Not normally but this was the first go at it. That’s why I checked it with the refractometer and it checked out good. What are your thoughts?
You harvest uncapped honey?
How did you get the shaft out without pulling the whole feederhouse off. And how did you get it back in with the sprockets on the shaft?
That was great, the Holy Spirit spoke through you
Thanks Chris, i was looking forward to watching this.
Looks funnn
Good job, Chris and family
Good job Chris, southern Irrigation are great to deal with
Hey there. Did you have to change the bracket on the muffler?
Looks great
Hello, I liked your video, you got me out of a dilemma that I had not been able to solve, with a small fan with an asynchronous motor, I congratulate you for your enthusiasm in finding a homemade solution to your problems.
Looks like a caddilac setup
Okay thank you, I have since applied bees wax and replaced some of the frames so I’m hoping it will help. Thank you for the advise
Go buy some drawn comb to fill your brood chamber. They can't build comb in a dearth.
With plastic frames/plastic foundation you need to apply a thin layer of wax on them otherwise the bees don’t like building on it as it’s a foreign object
Good job Chris
Good job Chris ,all you equipment looks so clean! I hope you do well and learn alot

So for the petg try turning off your cooling fan for everything except bridging I’m running the kobra 2 pro and I think I was at 235 hotend temp 70 degrees for the bed temp and max speed of 120 Getting good prints with that
I ordered 10 Nucs of bees so starting with 10 hives and hoping to do splits as soon as possible but not sure if it’s realistic. If everything were to work out in the first couple years I might pull a Pat Bos and try and shoot the lights out with a couple thousand. Go big or go home. Haha
How many hives are you going to have?
Cuz you can does not need to be defended...very cool.
Man, even yo dawg look at you like you crazy! 😂
I love the Coyote coat but you can keep the polar dip
Where can I buy a trailer like that ?
I think Flamman Trailer sales makes them but they are crazy price. I have seen the odd used one pass through Ritchie Bros but again they are fairly pricey as people are always looking for a side business
Do you have the plans and parts list?
dang
So very helpful. Thanks
Your the man!
statistically at least two of the people doing this job are domestic abusers, which two is it?
I really needed to hear that quote…fear staying the same 👍
Amazing job. Is there anything you can’t fix?
Nothing I won’t try, that’s for sure😊
