1985 Big Twin Evo Build Part Two
Made some good progress on the swing arm chop. Front end mounted, gas tank mounted, tires mounted, etc. Still a lot to do, but quite the transformation so far.

This is my 1948 FL named “Fortunate Son.” I wanted to do a walk-around video of it as well as a lazy slideshow showing the progress between 2015-2024. Special thanks to the following people for making this motorcycle come back to life after 30 years: Nate Plumb @plumbcycles_speed Fab/Engine Chris Johnston @oxfordco.choppers Bars/Shifter Pete Stovicek @quikcolor @petespartspile Paint Ryan Johnso...

What started as a quick project turned into a full on custom build. All credit goes to Plumb Cycles & Speed for all the fabrication, powder coat, assembly, and troubleshooting. It couldn’t have been done without him. Prism Hardtail 005 with their full catalog of chopper parts as well as parts from Lowbrow Customs, Biltwell, Trident Cycle Supply and more. Use the flame tank man, looks awesome.....
Yo! On the other frisco tank how close were the mounting holes on the stock bungs on frame? Also what flame tank is that?
This popped up in my feed today and I’m very glad it did. Subbed keep choppers sketchy. 👌
I love the blue flames, keep them, bike looks great, you look amazing! XO XO
Speaking of your table. Do you have the measurements for it? I’m looking at building one. Curious to know your length x width x height to fit a big twin
@@Wetwipez_ I don’t remember the exact measurements but I believe I used 2’ wide sheets of plywood and it’s about 8’ long which is plenty long for most bikes. The height should be between 12-18”, any taller and it’s going to be impossible to get it up there by yourself
Hell yeah. Thanks for the info. I figured going higher than 20in was gonna be a task to push it up haha
Mine stopped being a budget build a long time ago. And I didn't even hardtail it
Sounds like you got it dieled! Have fun
WTF SHOVEL HEAD CAME OUT IN 65 , early shovels had the pan lower end , but never was a shovel pan
@@toddricketts9498 people have been putting shovel heads on panhead engines for years, get with the program
FIRST
teach me more about that capacitor set up and its install thanks
Good for you. Your Dad would be proud. what did you use to remove the paint for the tranny and then what did you use to bring its luster back?
Sweet! Nicely done, Dad's smiling up there for sure.
@@rubbabubba6489 thank you very much
That is a stellar scooter man!
@@joalvarez6252 thank you
@@poweredbyltx youre welcome chief!
What part of this bike is 1948?
@@KentForrest frame, crankcase, transmission
@@poweredbyltx right on. That's cool enough but was gonna be extra awesome if that peanut was a first year pulled off a model S.
Awesome I love the twin discs. It's good to stop in less distance than a freight train.
Very nice. Not overdone. She just right.
Good on you man !! Working on a 70 flh . Ride safe . Cheers . G.Speight
Love the lines of the bike. Love that you got brakes both ends. Everything is awesomely tasteful.
Wheres the 48
I love when they put shovel heads on a pan, such a beautiful motor, must take a mad scientist
Harley Davidson did that in 1966 through 1969.
Really cool build. Funny thing is, you'll never be finished with it.
Where's the springer front end? Is it for sale?
@@TravisRummer where’s your springer front end
@@poweredbyltx i haven't found one yet.
I am so incredibly proud of you, great job making dreams come true ❤️
48 was a pan head. Some guys put shovelhead heads on them. For proformance.
The first guys to do that were named Harley and Davidson.
Iron head, good luck.
@@julirichmond3 hahahahahahaha
lol definitely has shovel heads
No no no. It’s a Yamaha pan head!
Definitely not an Ironhead.
Nice scoot dude. Nothing sounds like a shovelhead
I am not being negative I just did not think that they built shovelheads in 1948
@@StevanKuyper-ms4lp you can put a Shovelhead top end on a panhead
@@poweredbyltx I figured you did that swap. Really quality build. Looks super good.
Back then the engine cases were the titled part.
1 finger front brake lever and 1 toe rear brake arm holy moly some stoppies on that bad Larry Cool backstory, glad to hear it in its entirety. Def something to be proud of
Badass

I remember hanging in your garage around your dirt bikes in high school and seeing this leaned up against the wall. I always wondered if I’d ever see it run. Glad to see you finally had the time and the resources to make it road worthy again. Dennis would be proud. Congrats my friend
@@scooch988 it still doesn’t feel real
Nice hog brother
is that a 6 inch over fork? Awesome build!
