A Little Ramble About Lines and Blocks
Переглядів 37710 місяців тому
A little ramble about what kinds of Lines and Blocks we like to use on our boats. These are our recommendations after fifty-plus years of building boats, and the names and companies and brands and trademarks and such are all retained by the companies whose they are. We're just talking about what we like to use. Take the info as you like, but we think it's some helpful insight. Stevenson Projects
Patrick Mace's Weekender Construction Video
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Mr. Patrick Mace sent us this very nice video to share. He shows aspects of his Weekender project being built, and a few nice modifications he made. Mr. Mace came up with a different rudder locking system, and he added thin decking planks and a strip-planked cabin top to his Weekender. Very nice work, and we look forward to seeing more! Thank you, Patrick! Go to Stevenson Projects for more info...

Godfrey-Daniels Coasting Test Day!
Переглядів 446Рік тому
This video is a look back into the Pre-History of CycleKarting - Before we had even built the first CycleKart! The Godfrey-Daniels was a coaster (no engine) which we built to see if coasting was as much fun as we remembered it to be - And it was! Fun enough for us to immediately start working on adding an engine. That lead to the creation of a whole new machine, the first CycleKart! But all of ...

CycleKarts On the Haybale Track at Laguna Seca

CycleKarts touring around the haybale track at the November 2021 Velocity Invitational event at Laguna Seca. This was a sort of tour of the track for the C-Ks, with everyone on at the same time. Later, we got loose and they tore around a lot more. Racing was limited on this narrow track, so time-trials were run, instead of wheel-to-wheel racing. A tour of the old Stoneleigh Ranch track
Переглядів 2852 роки тому
This is a tour around the track at the old Stoneleigh Ranch when Peter Stevenson was living there. Taken around Halloween, 2008 (note the faux-skeleton hanging from the barn!), it's still so nice and green. I think I was driving the then-new Schuko Cyclekart. The Schuko/Brannon Special CycleKart
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
This is a look at the last CycleKart Peter Stevenson created. He got the bug to make a C-K based on the cute little Schuko wind-up racers - A "real" toy based on a small toy! Along the way, it began to look and feel more like an American Dirt-Track Car, and since we love the film To Please A Lady, he started calling it the Brannon Special! I may have to put it back more like a wind-up, but it's...

looks lke a scale model friendship sloop.
In a way, it kind of IS that! Peter Stevenson was absolutely inspired by the traditional Friendship Sloops, and wanted a smaller, simple-to-build version for fun in San Diego when he lived there in the late-Seventies/early-Eighties. The Weekender was the result, an outgrowth of our earlier Skipjack design.
Your sound system, are you planning to have them assist propulsion?? OMW!!
So many beautiful cars!
Neat! How much metal working skill do you need.
Nothing much, really. No welding is required. Just cutting the roof off and then simple skills to bend a few pieces to fit. Much less complicated than one of our pedal cars, and they are quite simple!
Thanks for the great information! When I built my Weekender back in the 80's I used the finest marine hardware the "ACE Hardware sold. Ha Ha. I loved that boat but had to sell to help pay for my daughters school after a couple of years of super sailing. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder where she is today and if she's being loved.
Thank you so much for this note. I agree: I miss having many of the boats we've had to let go over the years. And I have wondered about the most recent one, the Super-Skipjack prototype. Would you think about making another?
At 76 and and with few medical issues I suspect not. But I was looking hard at the new Skipjack for a good while, what a beauty!. I think I miss sailing more than flying.. It was John Leather's book "Gaff Rig" and Family Circle magazine that brought us together so many years ago.@@StevensonProjects
Thank you for sharing with us!! Very nice
Thank you! I love seeing photos of your Weekender!
@@StevensonProjects I will send some more today for you :)

Wow! Good job!
I agree!
Thank you! I have put a lot of work into it.
Most impressive weekender I’ve seen yet. Love the strip planking.
It IS a nice one! Great to see...
Thank you. I have put a lot of work into it.
Как купить проект этой яхты?!!!!
Thank you for your interest in our Weekender design! You can buy the plans and videos here: www.stevproj.com/IntroWkndrPg1.html
Csodálatos kis HAJÓ ! Rendkívül elegáns, szép a vonalvezetése, a vitorlázata, a színei. Szépen is megy. Nagyon ügyesek vagytok, precíz munkát végeztétek. Még is lett az eredménye. Gratulálok !
Thank you for your kind note! (I used Google's translation, but I was able to get the message.) Thanks! The Weekender IS a wonderful little boat! We have always enjoyed ours (and we've made FOUR of them over the decades!)
There can be fewer things more rewarding than building oneself this beautiful sailboat, that you're going to enjoy for decades to come. The sheer pleasure, satisfaction and pride from turning timber into your own, personal sailboat is incomparable, and to have something as lovely as this boat is simply joyous.
I completely agree! It's really magical to sail along in a little boat you made yourself...So wonderful! Thanks for the note!
I loved our long weekends in Texas...thanks for the memory..(even saw where I lost it in the corner!) Thanks Mike
The Stoneleigh Round-ups were wonderful!! I have some goofy vids of our jam sessions somewhere.
That is a sweet car.
Thanks! I wish it was still around...
@@StevensonProjects I’ve been a big fan of Stevenson Projects over the years, y’all do nice work.
@@Dubcutt Wow! Thank you so much! Peter certainly had an eye for shape, and for simplicity, too.
Fantastic!
Thank you! You've posted so many fun vids, so I should try to get the few vids we actually have up, too!
How many feet to require the least Stevenson's Weekender's sailboat to qualify its Sloop?
Hello, and thank you for your note. Do you mean the least number of feet to build the Weekender? I would say a 12' x 21' garage would work, Possibly a little less, if you could shift things around while you work - But that would be tight.
I built one of these ("Friendship Sloop") back in '83 and rigged it as a gaff cutter. All running and standing blocks (deadeyes) made using white oak and the rigging included downhauls, lazy jacks - everything found on much larger such 'ships'. It got a lot of attention and sailed like a dream for the 25 years of its life. Gone now but never forgotten.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that! We really love hearing stories from our builders about their projects, and you were one of our original group of builders😀. Very cool, and I'm glad you had a good long time with your Weekender!
@@StevensonProjects I'm also very glad the 'Stevenson' name remains with this (these) lovely vessels because (if memory serves), I once saw them offered as kits by a small outfit here in Canada with no credit given to the Stevensons. I built mine from plans I purchased from the designer Mr. Stevenson and I modified a few features including a rounded beakhead, scrolled trailboards, a boom gallows etc ...all that 'shippy' stuff. So good to know people are still building end enjoying them.
@@fredwerthman1361 Ha! Yep: I remember that group out of Canada! They tried to sell kits for awhile, then happily folded. We once got a call from a person in the US who had "bought the US rights" from that group and they were just calling to see if we had any tips! We had to burst their bubble by telling them that not only had they NOT bought the rights, but we had Never Let Them GO! If you have any photos of your Weekender, I'd love to see them, and add the to the Builder Photo pages on our website, if you'd like. mail@stevproj.com Thank you, again, for the fun chat! Mike Stevenson
That sounds powerfull! What kind of engine is that?
It's a Kawasaki Ninja 600. It sounds great, I think. And it sounds different from the motorcycle because we are feeding the exhaust headers straight into a large-diameter exhaust pipe with no muffler.
What a beautiful car.
Thank you! I agree!
Im building one Weekender and Im enjoying each and every minute I spend in the process. The satisfaction of each step forward, see and feel the boat gettin into shape, into something amazingly beautiful. Im so thankfull for you guys that have developed this project. I imagine how many hours on top of papers and drawings and studies and thoughts, try and errors. Great job!
Thank you, Rodrigo! I look forward to seeing YOUR Weekender videos soon! And we are really glad you like the project as much as we do!!
So much fun. The smoke at the Le Man start added to the realism. LOL
Very true! Thank you, again: That was great fun!
Is there any rules/ age limits/ car HP limits?
Well, people generally adhere to our original concepts as laid out here: www.cyclekarts.com/ You can also find all sorts of info here: www.cyclekarts.com/
Great footage. Thanks for sharing!
You actually do races with these? 😱 They look really nice 👍
Thank you! They ARE a lot of fun!
The horn is the best of this little car 😉
Классная работа,талантливые вы люди.мечтаю купить у вас проект Weekender.

Thank you! It is! I'll be posting more CycleKarting stuff soon, as we just went to a great event and met a bunch of wonderful people. It's been about a decade since we did any CycleKarting, so it's really fun to have had a chance to get back at it!

Amazing how such a classic style of boat can be made with plywood and of course with skill and workmanship. Great build and video. Thanks for the inspiring post👍
Thank you so much! And you're quite welcome!
Wonderful, can I buy one from you? Thanks, Shan, email:yingshanmanning@gmail.com

It makes me nostalgic for my old sailing days (and VHS tapes).
LOL! The TAPES! Yep: we took awhile to switch to DVDs, and we've taken awhile to switch to streaming videos, but the Weekender How-to Videos will be up for sale as digital videos soon...Thanks for the note!

Cheaters !… The video of the boat on the water at 6:01 is fast motion !!!… No sailing bot this size would go that fast in such a weather !!!… Thanks for the input anyway. Cheers !
What the hell do you know about it at all dumbass? If you look how he's turning the wheel it is not fast motion and I had a boat this size that would go just that damn fast in wind like he had so shut up and quit trying to start trouble😉
Just to be clear: We DID NOT speed up the video. It was a really good sailing day and I got very lucky with the filming and caught the boat screaming along.
@@StevensonProjects In which case : 1) Congrats ! 2) She's a very fine week-end cruiser … which deserves a lucky skipper as you are. Cheers !
*_I love their boat catalogue [Check Details Here==>_**_plus.google.com/100351090281822647456/posts/9DB7swbbBri_**_ ].I purchased it two years ago and it got me, my sons & friends hooked. With their presence, I can make up my mind on what I want to build now. A big thanks to them._*
Great Video! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard about - Joolaim Rudder Replication (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for getting some amazing boat plans minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my close friend Aubrey got astronomical results with it.
hello how is the performance this boat?
Is the entire boat plywood? CDX?
What was used for ballast ? Swing keel ? bolt on ?
+John Doe None! It seems that the sharp chine is enough when heeling.
Great job, loved the boat build and the sailing is superb. Thank you.
Here's a few ideas for building boats: Allow enough time. take advantage of done for you boat plans. (I read about these and more on Denelle boat builder website )
There are many components to creating an amazing design. One place I found which successfully combines these is the Denelle Boat Builder (google it if you're interested) definately the best info that I've seen. look at this amazing resource.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover wooden speed boat plans try Joolaim Rudder Replication (just google it ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my buddy got amazing success with it.
Very nice music all of it,but personally I would prefer a Tiller, but maybe shes got a heavy weather helm
Beautiful!
А, можно увеличить конструкцию ?
