Topwater Fishing BASS in May with MOUSE LURES
Переглядів 1613 місяці тому
On May 1st I went out topwater fishing for bass for the first time in 2024. Using a Spro Rat 30 I managed to hook up and even land some largemouth bass. Topwater fishing may well be a summer sport, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try it earlier! You never know what hungry bass might give you a good fight! #fishing #fishingvideo #largemouthbass
Catch Even More Panfish With This Fly Fishing Rig!
Переглядів 2 тис.4 місяці тому
Fly fishing for panfish is easy with a dropper rig! On days when you can't tell if the bluegill and other panfish will hit topwater, get the best of both worlds by setting up a dropper rig. The lead fly I used was an Elk Hair Caddis, but you can use any dry or foam pattern. I recommend something that is larger so it is easy to see while fishing (the eyes get tired after a while). For the droppe...
Fly Fishing Poppers Before the Rain
Переглядів 8594 місяці тому
Fly fishing popper patterns doesn't have to be tricky. I went out fly fishing for a few before the rain with my Moonshine Revival fly rod and a small black foam popper and had good luck. Bluegill, pumpkinseed and even a nice largemouth bass took a swing at this popper fly. It's relatively easy to learn how to fish a popper fly pattern on a pond. My method is to cast out and let it sit for 10 to...
BASS LOVE Weightless Texas- Canoe Fishing
Переглядів 4855 місяців тому
Canoe #fishing big bass in March up in Massachusetts was a success with rubber worms! The classic weightless Texas Rig worked great for these bass because this pond/swamp is around 2.5 to 3 feet deep in most areas and loaded with invasive weeds. Super slow jigging definitely excited these #largemouthbass . The pre spawn bass hit is on NOW so rubber worms, jerkbaits and jigs are the go to fishin...

I was #icefishing in Central Massachusetts for some #largemouthbass and managed to bring in a few good ones! My GoPro died while #fishing but I got some good footage of the bass with the phone. I hope you are all able to get out ice fishing this year!

Yep ..seen all of them.
What kind of hook set should you use on poppers?
What state is that?

@@KissTheFish i wish we have such lakes in new york or new jersey. Would love to catch bluegill like that
One other thing, I ABSOLUTELY love the structure of that pond. Must be quite a few HAWGS swimmin' around in there, for certain!!!
Oh absolutely! This pond holds some really decent fish and doesn't really get to much pressure. It's one of my favorite places to fish with all of the cover and structure.
@@KissTheFish That's AWESOME, I find low pressured ponds the fish fight differently, harder in fact. Mainly because most fish have NEVER been hooked. Good luck out there and keep the vids coming!!!
Fun day. Good looking body of water with a nice horizon.
@@shorelinefilms absolutely! It had been a bit since I got out. Was happy to put a few in the boat too!
AWESOME technique, plus cool vid, NICE JOB!!! I've never fly fished for bass before looks like fun. I've been posting several bass fishing vids recently, fishing MA if you wish to check them out, some pretty cool stuff, ENJOY!!!
@@Takeakidfishin Thank you! They are always fun to catch no matter how we all catch em. I'll have to check out your new stuff! I'd give you a new sub but I'm already subscribed lol
@@KissTheFish Your welcome brother and thanks for subscribing, COOL!!!
Do you ever use a popper fly?
Yes!
There my favorite thing to fish with 😊
@@bobbydotson3856 mine too! These and mouse patterns
For the first time a few days ago, on a spinning rod so only could cast about 6 ft with the wind but got hit the first 5 times I casted
Use the Davey Knot.
As someone who is beginning fly fishing you genuinely saved me hours lol. The last time at the river I kept saying to myself, “there has to be an easier way of doing this” anyway thank you!
@@DixieNormous00 glad it helped! It's saved me so much frustration
Thanks good review...just bought used (barely) and have in truck bed tied down...after your review will definitely untie since I am in Florida
I hope you enjoy it!
As a spinner rod fisherman trying to learn about fly fishing I have to say…. Nice pipe lol I have a few Peterson and Savinelli pipes and love a good English blend while fishing. Take care.
@@titobuilt1188 this one was a gift from a friend. Very old but is quite the piece. Gotta love a nice classic
what weight rod?
Put some cooking oil on the seal on the water tight storage and it won’t get stuck closed as easy
@@BuckingFastard that's a great idea. I'm gonna try it
I have caught some big pickeral on a daredevil
@@everettbowley4233 gotta love them
I bought a Saranac 146 XT Angler about 13 years ago. It's 99% the same canoe. The differences I'm seeing are A. The neoprene padding is on the backrests as well and B. The deck plates are very different. The carry handles have a straight orientation instead of sideways, each plate has a slot to mount Scotty rod holders, and they have a molded in anchor cleat. My opinion is they're a really good canoe for the money and intended purpose. It's a day tripper family boat for smaller lakes, ponds, and rivers. They didn't go all in regarding rocker, chine, and tumblehome. In other words it's just a no frills straight sided flatbottom boat. Has great primary stability as referenced in the video about standing up and fly fishing in it. Tracking? Bit of a cow honestly. You'll wear ya'self out keepin' it straight on a big lake, that said... Ain't built for it. If someone wants a canoe to take across a bigger lake get a Penobscot 174. Despite the flimsy feel of the material they are actually pretty tough and can take a hard thump. Yeah, the single layer poly hull will deform (oil can) on ya over time, but that can be partially fixed and I don't think it really hinders the performance of the canoe that much. All in all despite the inherent drawbacks to the material and hull design, I never really regretted buying mine. It was my first and still is my most used canoe. I expect I'll still be paddling down rivers and fishing out of it for several more years to come.
Great to see someone else flicking flies out of an open top canoe. A few of us do in Tasmania, most others using Hobie style craft on our local logoon. Do you stand up to cast much? I might have to tie up a Popper or two and gove them a go at dusk/ night. Greetings from down under.
Uni knot
I bought the same canoe and have enjoyed it tremendously! The round storage compartment holds my phone, keys and billfold! It’s pretty secure and any moron can open it easily! You simply pop the latch and twist it to unlock it and it pops right open! This guy made it look difficult but it’s really not! My wife and I really enjoy the canoe and we started out with kayaks but I’m to big and kept flipping it so I decided to just do the canoe! I’m six feet tall and weigh 310 and the only problem I have is when trying to get out of the canoe! I have had knee replacements done and my legs get numb and so getting in is ok but when getting out my wife gives me a hand and pulls me right out! If you enjoy the water a canoe is appropriate and fun! Thank you, Michael. ✝️
👌👌
What weight rod are you using
This is a 3wt glass rod
Now 2024, how are you liking the bass field kit combo. There are not any long term reviews and I haven’t had mine long enough. Ty
I still love it. I use a different line than what it came with but I love it. Scientific Anglers Mastery Titan WF7F. Casts like a mile with heavy mouse patterns and poppers. I broke a tip at one point and was disappointed they did not cover it, but I was able to buy a new tip for it- color matched right from their website. Good luck with yours!
Side note- the tip broke because I'm an idiot. Any rod would have haha got the tip stuck in a branch and I got frustrated and pushed instead of taking my time. So no fault of the rod
I know I’m a little late here but is that a size 4 popper?….The size up from the typical panfish size like a Betts Popper? I have the small ones too but that one looks like the larger size ones that I have.
That is the size 4! Great popper for bluegill and I use it for largemouth believe it or not!
@@KissTheFish nice! Happy fishing bro!
Should have gotten a discovery 169.
I got the same set up but with a 1093. Beautiful rod. It's a treasure.
It's an awesome rod!
What weight rod are you using? I was having some trouble casting a double barrel popper with a 5wt today.
Great job with the spoon.i never have any luck with a daredevil spoon.
Thank you! It is one of my favorite lures nowadays. I like to let it sink for about two seconds before I start retrieving. Then I try to only go fast enough to make it wiggle. Every 15 feet or so I give it a slightly faster turn on the reel. This seems to work good for me
Same. Never caught fuck all on a Daredevil spoon
Thanks for breaking it down simply and easily .... it's been decades since I last did any real fishing, and I'm just now working on getting back into the swing of things ... I explained to a bait & tackle shop worker that I was just looking to get back in the saddle with some simple bobber & bait fishing (having no idea how much rods and reels have progressed over all that time) and he pointed me to the Zebco series. I went with that 33 and was wondering what some of those 'extra gizmos' did! 😀
I'm glad I could help! I hope you enjoy your time out there!
Water Buffalo
Top water, frog
Had one of these and switched to the Discovery 158. It doesnt have all the molded in bits but I added seat backs and rod holders. The discovery paddles much better and its significantly more stable. Im 6'3" 275 and can stand and fish from it.
I've heard a lot of great things about that canoe.
@@KissTheFish It's been a good one! I do miss how comfortable the Saranacs seats are though. I realize my previous comment sounds like the Saranac was bad and it's definitely not. It was a very good canoe especially when you consider it's basically Old Towns entry level boat. It's the best sub $1000 canoe on the market.
Beaver, probably. Just slap the water and get back to your casting lesson.
Probably just a bull shark
Bigfoot
It has to be!
Do trout go for poppers?
Was your left foot when you stepped on with your right foot 😂
Haha I don't think so but you never know lol
@@KissTheFish just joking mate 😉
Time to go
Haha yup
Massachusetts? Sturgeon. Big carp. Big cat. Everything feels alive when it touches you underwater, big stick? Thought something bit me one time. Was walking through the river and felt a sharp pain in my shin. Then it yanked and pulled. Thought something like a pike or muskey decided to give me a taste. Turns out it was an illegal line thrown across the water with about 20+ treble hooks. It pulled b cause there were fish on some of the hooks and i freaked them out by pulling the hooks in their mouth. That hook went right through the tendon in front of my shin and poked its way back out. That was a fun wade about a mile back to the shore where i parked up. I knew i wasnt pulling it out as soon as i saw the hook shift sepreatly from the skin when i bent my ankle. While legaly i should have cut the line, i was raised on the idea that you should never get between a man and his meal. Have fun out there man.
That's crazy! Hopefully you didn't get a nasty infection from that! Not a fun thing to find with your leg
@@KissTheFish not fun to find indeed. No infection, somehow. Went to the doc to have him professionally YANK it out of me. If I would have known he was just gonna give it a yank I'd have done it myself. I've had to remove a couple hooks. Never had to pull one out of a tendon so I thought there was going to be some difference. Nope. Most I've ever spent on someone giving me a tug. Couldn't help myself. I'll see myself out.
Definitely a Gooch.
I've stepped on limbs before in merky water and definitely felt like something brushing up against me
Don’t leave! Catch if 🎣
It might be a beaver cause otters come up and make themselves known. I've had it happen to me a couple of times while fishing but wither way i wouldn't want either if im in the water land is a diffrent thing but in they're habitat is scary😂❤
Carp?
Maybe. It freaked me out whatever it was
Gotta be a beaver. I filled my waders with doo doo once, after a beaver rammed me in chest deep, black water.
Scary stuff! I reached in the water once and grabbed the back of a snapping turtle thinking it was something cool looking. Same reaction. No good haha
@@KissTheFish Nope, no, nah, negatory. I'd rather be yelled at by my wife to death, than be bitten by one of those smelly dinosaurs.
Thanks,
You got it!
Chupacabra. 100%
Oh no! I'm lucky to still be alive then! Haha
Beavers love to investigate in that way
Definitely not a good feeling when you are by yourself in the water though haha
Probably a snapping turtle
Alligator?
Bet it was a beaver. Same exact thing happened to me!
Not a good feeling!
Could be a crackhead who got ahold of the wrong stuff, told him to get in the water and play a crocodile
Haha oh man
