your videos are very good and awesome i really enjoy watching your videos😊
@@FishingWorld23hg cheers mate
Cheers guys, enjoy
Hey Simon, love your videos. What area of shoals do you fish as I find it hard to catch a fish whenever I go there. I always thought it was flat and didn’t even know there were any bommies there.
Hey mate , I’m fishing about 5km past the shallow part of the shoals in around 16-18m of water. There’s a bunch of ground out that way. Not huge bommies, mostly just rubbly ground. I have other spots a few more km’s out too . It’s still on the shoals platform, sort of half way between rock cod and tullarook but a bit further out . Just sound around out that way and you will find plenty of ground.
Do you guys only catch Hussar out at Rock Cod Shoals????
@@robertporter387 nah we also get tuskies , trout, redthroat , sweetlip, red emperor etc. this time of year the red throat move out to the reef to the warmer water so we didn’t get any this trip
Thanks guys. Coming up for a week's reef fishing from the Gold Coast and want to target trout, red throat & tuskies. Probably be up at Tannum in about a month or so. Would the outer reefs around Masthead be a good starting point. No zip about your area. Cheers Bob.
@@robertporter387 yeah mate. Masthead gets hammered a fair bit but there are fish there. If you are set up to get around Sykes, it fishes well. Pretty much, the further out you go, the better the fishing. Lamont, Fitzroy, northwest, broomfield area all fish great too. There is a shoal area between erskine and wistari called cabbage patch that goes good to but it’s right beside the green zone so you need to be careful. Plenty of sharks though
is most of your stuff, around Turkey?
Yeah most of it
Good flatty spot 👌
Paint the rod black & sell it for $200 :p
You can be my Sydney agent
With 6lb braid for the bream fishos
Nice work Simo! 🎣🤜🤛
Very fishy! Those barras put a nice fight, we don't have this fish here on South Island NZ. Following your channel since the rudder mod video, thanks again for that worked up pretty good for me. Have you filled the pedal drive with motor oil?! I did highly recommend it. Cheers mate
Yeah mine are filled with gear oil. Definitely the way to go. Much better than grease
Do the birds like CC & Dry also !?!
No. They prefer CC& cola. The Dry gives them indigestion.
bit off fresh coming down there mate hows the colours on the jacks in there mate !!!!
awesome video!
Mangrove snapper 😊
Slept in and forgot to get changed out of your PJ pants mate !?! 😂
Hahaha! Don’t pick on my hippie pants!!
Go the frogs mate!!!
Yeah not bad fun. I had caught a few on Zman frogs years ago chasing Barra but never went back to them. Definitely handy getting deeper into the snags!
Nice session mate 👌
Where are you fishing?
Turkey beach
looks fun trip, what river you fishing?
Conners system
❤❤❤❤🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
What Yak do run mate???
Pedalfish 10. It’s pretty much a copy of the Native Watercraft Slayer 10
I like fishing
Thankyou for the info
Hi guys. Enjoyed your vid. My mate and I are coming to Tannum Sands in a few weeks time and bringing the boat. Just wondering if you could please supply me a GPS mark for Rock Cod Shoals. Never been there before. Regards Bob.
Hey mate. All the sounders have rock cod shoals on there maps. The shallow part of rock cod shoals( 10m) is a bit hit and miss. Better off looking for ground either just off the edge of the shoals, the southern side is popular, or a bit further afield. The ground I fish is about 5-10 km to the east in around 18m of water.
Came looking for this after hearing about them on the boys podcast this is fuckin prime
They go great. Awesome for flattys and grunter and also been killing it over shallow reefs for stripeys, tusk fish and plenty of other reef fish
Where can we buy them from
@@letsgoozzie8579 Lure Labs on Facebook and instagram. They have just done their first big drop and sold out. Next drop is in 2 weeks I think.
What size jig head?
@@tunzygu3664 just running a 1/6 or 1/4 ounce on a 2/0 hook in the shallow water from the bank
Dunno why this appeared in my feed but I liked the video. Haven't been fishing since I was a kid but I've been dying to go this upcoming summer. Cheers!
Cheers mate. I just video my sessions as a bit of a hobby to show my mates. Definitely not a big “UA-camr” and I don’t get paid anything. Heaps of different types of fishing videos on my page though if you’re interested.
“Barra & Bacon with Simon Pimm”
😂
Do you ever get scared of crocs in Gladstone region or seq?
Not really. Anywhere north of Gladstone is serious croc country. There is one or two in Gladstone Harbour but anywhere south of Gladstone is pretty much fine
top uploading! do you want more subscribers?. catch you later- 🥸
Water looks great. Some solid numbers there!
Yeah. Pulled about 20 soots off the one snag. Dropped a toga on my second cast and didn’t see another on after that
Thats really clever mate....im pretty disappointed with the turning response in standard form.....ill be copying your design pronto......cheers Old Ed
Makes a huge difference!
Feel like they deserve a bigger stage but that sound under the roof is awesome, thanks for the vid🤘
Absolutely should have been on the main stage
That single gig was the loudest one I've ever been to, louder than Slayer and Judas Priest I was towards the back breaking my neck from heavy head banging
What creek was this in mate where you caught the 39
3 moon creek
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 would you happen to know where abouts in it I live in the area and it was all dry and most of the fish were dead in this video it’s full up and I haven’t seen a area that looks like that in it yet
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 I actually live on a farm that has the creek run through it and it was dry until last week when they let some water out of the dam

@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 👍🤘
Hey mate, I'm sure you get asked this a bit and fair enough if you don't want to share but what systems are you fishing for your barra and jack?
Gladstone area
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 Thanks for that mate. I'm in Agnes and do a lot of reef fishing but really miss catching barra. If you feel like sharing any more info about how and where your getting these awesome fish that would be amazing! I'm assuming it's all saltwater barra?
@@jspi6046 freshwater and saltwater. The top end of every creek around here has Barra . Top end of the calliope river and Boyne river is a good place to start if you have a yak or small boat . Obviously awoonga is full of Barra as well
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 Thanks for that! When you say top end do you mean oceanside of awonga or freshwater side? Have you explored Collosseum Inlet much?
@@jspi6046 ocean side. Collo is good for whiting , grunter , jack and Barra but need to access it by boat from the back of broardacres at tannum. Dirt track on the way in and just a hard surface “ramp”. Lock your stuff up if you go there. A bit of thieving goes on.
Grinding barefoot, Lovin your gangster styles. Absolute classic, you made my day. Cheers bro
Dude, can you show me how did you place sonar under kayak?
Hey mate. It’s glued down on the inside of the hull at the back hatch with sellys all clear. Works great.
Is there still any bass in tweed river
Thanks for sharing! Such an awesome kayak. Picked up a pedal craft second hand with the belt drive. Goes great but the rudder is a little unresponsive. Will have to do a similar mod as you did 👍😊
Nice work. I was planning a video at Moura next week, but the rain has stopped me. The river looks great.
Yeah it’s cleaned up nicely. Hopefully we don’t get the rain they are forecasting
Love this idea. I've the same type of rudder & despite trying to steer it does it erraticly and slow to respond. your idea looks way more responsive. Going to try the same. Thank you & keep up the good work
Nice! I’m seeing them at the end of May in Baltimore and now I’m hyped because this sounds so good!
Awesome session cool spot. What baitcaster setup do you is casting the dstyle.
Shimano SLX DC on a shimano bass raider . Really good baitcaster combo for casting those lighter lures. The Curado DC’s (I have 2 that I use for jack & Barra) are a little smoother but almost unnoticeable compared to the SLX DC. The SLX is about $100 cheaper too.
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 awesome thanks. Just planing to get a baitcaster set up for bass. Been looking at the bass raider thought it might be too short to cast light lures. You had no problem though.
@@jacobbanks9870 No they are good. Got a soft tip so you get a bit of extra whip out of them
Having a dc reel is the big advantage though. You don’t get those mid cast over runs casting light lures. Put the cast controller on 2 and cast it as hard as you can. They take a thousand readings a second when cast to control the speed the reel is spinning to the speed the lure is traveling at You will never buy another bait cast reel again. They are the best on the market at a very fair price

Great video mate keep them coming out mate 👌👌
Wow that was So Good. Thanks For Filming and Posting this Man! I’m seeing them here in Sydney
Awesome video mate, I purchased a nextgen 11 pedal drive,, 6 months ago and although its a pretty good yak, I was a little bit disappointed in it's turning circle, i reckon this is just what I need, cheers🍻🍻🍻
Ha ha ha I like how you got excited, great little vid.
Looks like deep water creek. I had 95 acres in baffle creek and I miss that place. Have got many Barra and jacks there.
Where about is this? Heading up to Agnes wanting to chase Barra, thanks
If you go up round hill Creek at 1770,just past 5 ways it holds water up there at low tide and good jack fishing and the odd Barra but you can only get in and out close to high tide is the only problem.
Hey Simon, have you thought about putting a watersnake electric motor on it? I have the same yak, but would be interested on your thoughts of whether an electric could be mounted in the rudder hold or where the pedal drive drops in..?
I haven’t on this kayak . My old Jackson kayak used to have an electric motor but I have gone away from them. (It’s in my older videos)The only real advantage of the electric motor over pedal power is the traveling to the fishing destination. Once you’re at your destination you have much more control with the pedal drive . Another disadvantage is having a big , really heavy battery on board. I was only getting about 4-5 hours out of a 70ah battery so I bought a 100ah battery to get through a fishing trip. They are soooo heavy and I’d imagine it would also make a “sit on top” kayak quite unstable, and it would be pretty much impossible to fit a big battery in the hull to make it more stable. My old kayak was a “sit in” so the battery didn’t affect the stability, just my back, lifting the bloody thing in and out. The electric was only pushing it at 6kph and I can go all day with the pedal drive at 5kph so there isn’t much difference there. But if you want to give it a go, go for it! The biggest problem is getting a battery big enough for your needs and getting it to fit as low in the kayak as possible. Let me know how you go if you give it a try
@@yaksjackswithsimonpimm5220 thanks for the reply! I was toying with the idea of mounting one where the pedal drive goes for further trips, but I have similar thoughts - the battery, weight, time and effort isn’t quite available. I think I’ll stick with the pedal drive, can’t go wrong with a bit of exercise - another reason I got a yak over a boat. Thanks for your response - tight lines!
Hi mate just wondering if I would be able to use this footage for one of my videos. I can link your channel in the description. What do you reckon?
Just finished mine today, got it out on the water and it works great. Here in the states mine is a BKC PK11 and steering is 100 % better. I did mine out of aluminum too and as you say it works a treat! In the states we say its Bitch-en, LOL. Thanks so much for the great idea and the video instructions. Keep up the good work. your mate in the U.S. Jake
Good stuff!
