We are the Bosch's and we live on a piece of land in the cornfields of Indiana. Through this channel we will be sharing our progress on the homestead as well as our take on marriage, money, food, health, and hobbies - including building and repairing all things homestead.
Installing a CRITTERFENCE and tater planting FINALLY!
Today we work on putting up the Critterfence around Garden #1. I was also able to get my seed potatoes in the ground, as late as they are. The chickens are happy, the dogs...not so much, but hopefully we will have plenty of tomatoes, peppers, onions, and potatoes at least.

Raised Garden Build Part 2 / Taking over the husband's shop!

It's a long process for us, with everything else we are constantly working on, but today I finally found time to move forward with the raised garden beds. I made a lot of progress today. Nothing will be as great as the day I actually plant something in them though!
BROODY HEN / We're expecting!!!

Yesterday was the first indication that we have a broody hen. We have never hatched chicks before, but today I was able to confirm that June 6th is going to be an exciting day on the homestead!

Nothing is as easy as it seems, and we prove that today by giving you a REAL look at life on the homestead. Today we decided to buy an auger because we have a lot of fence posts we will be putting up in the near future. Of course, to save all that time and energy, it took time and energy just to assemble it! Watch as we work, bloopers and all!

We've Got Worms! / Learning about Vermicomposting

Harvesting vermicompost (worm poop) is not the easiest or the funnest chore on the homestead, but the "black gold" we get from it makes it worth our time! Our worm farm is super small right now, but I hope to increase to about 3 bins by next spring.

We had honeybees over 10 years ago but our hives did not do well. Now we have learned a little bit more and we're ready to take on the challenge again! We picked up our nucs from Bastin Honeybee Farm today and we'd love for you to join us while we set them up!

This is so true. I go through some really productive phases, where I feel great and sleep good. Life is a cycle and my goal is to continue improving that cycle, be it the highs or the lows.

Hi. Are those earthworms, and how long did it take to create the bucket of compost, 3 mths?
Hi there! They are red wigglers that we ordered from Uncle Jim’s Worm Farm. We hadn’t harvested this time for probably more like 6 months, but if I had taken better care of them (given them more scraps and kept the moisture level where it should be) I should have had twice as many worms and therefore more compost faster.
