You also have to remember the checklist from the vampire episode. Man has literally pulled every card from a Deck of Many Things. That’s some serious magical mojo and something half the card either kill you (one of the cards is in fact Death if I’m remembering correctly) or make you wish for death. So I’m betting his first pulls were lucky and he got the wish card and simply made himself immortal and invulnerable. That or he’s just too barbarian to die😂.

The thing with the salt is that salt along with other mundane things are considered purifying and therefore effective against evil spirits and the like. Like how it's said vampires can't cross running water, a ring of salt around something is supposed to keep something safe from spirits. Or a line of salt at all entrances and windows.

You guys seriously never watched the show, Supernatural? It's mentioned there, but there are other references in movies and TV shows about salt preventing spirits from crossing thresholds and harming them in general. E.g., in Supernatural, they employ shotguns loaded with shells filled with rock salt to ward off spirits.
