United States
Приєднався 4 вер 2017
The Climate Reality Bay Area Chapter is one of over 100 nationwide chapters of the Climate Reality Project, focused on taking urgent action to address the climate and climate justice crises at the local level. With over 1600 members across the greater San Francisco Bay Area region, we actively promote climate action with efforts focused on pushing government at all levels to adopt policies that ensure a just transition to a safer, healthier, decarbonized future; & on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, & justice to bring frontline communities to the forefront of climate action.
The chapter events featured on this UA-cam channel aim to educate, inform & mobilize Bay Area climate advocates around a diverse array of impactful climate solutions. They feature thought leaders, activists, business & other community leaders members, and address issues, challenges and opportunities relevant to the Bay Area and California. Cultural Burning and Climate Resilience in Napa and Beyond
The 2017 Northern California wildfires, which caused the most expensive amount of damage by wildfires in California to that date, started in Napa. In recent years, wildfires have caused record-setting damage in Canada, Australia, Europe, Hawai’i, and all over the world. We welcome Charlie Toledo (Towa), Executive Director of Suscol Intertribal Council in Napa, who shares some Indigenous perspectives on fire season that are crucial for settler climate activists to know, such as:
• What is cultural burning?
• How is it good for the land and our climate?
• How has the outlawing of cultural burns under colonialism contributed to the climate crisis?
• What can settler climate activists do to support Indigenous cultural burners, here and abroad?
