Catching up with the Jane Kerr
Переглядів 2,7 тис.3 роки тому
After a recent visit to Queenscliff, I was reminded of an earlier trip back in 2015. While taking in the sights around the port, we came across the newly restored fishing vessel the Jane Kerr and it wouldn’t be the last time.

Переглядів 32 тис.4 роки тому
Two Fisher 32's "Evelyn Grace" and "Seventh Heaven" take a leisurely sail in calm conditions off Point Cook. The boats were built 6 months apart in Sydney back in 1988 and now call Port Phillip their home.

This is just sailing in the video I'm guessing, no motor right? Such nice vessels by the way.
Yes. Both just sailing.
Nice boat, bad sail trim.
Right? It’ll never get up on plane like that! 😒
Belleza
What a beauty! And it’s built right as well.
Beautiful boat
Freddie Farkaar. BOG average host.
Beautiful boat!
Bound for Glory. 50 something years down the track and still going. Great times.🎉😁😁😁😁👍
Wow! Great song. Who wrote it? Thanks for the flashback. Rob handles himself well. Wonder how his next single 'Midnight woman' went back in the day? Rob sings - 'You're gonna find love'. I'm still trying! :) Thanks again
I used to own a Hurley 9.5 which have the same amazing built quality and the displacement as the Fisher but my lord these fishers are so pretty
Does anyone remember the Sunraysia Football League preview and review shows that were shown on STV8 in the mid '70's? I wonder if any of the footage still exists? I doubt it but it would be interesting to watch if it did. I remember going to Kenny Park in Merbein to watch Graham "Tommy" Bland playing for the mighty maggies (then Quandong Park when my family moved to Red Cliffs in 1976).
I rmemeber when I lived in mildura in 1970 they had their own TV station I now live in Burley, idaho
Then check out framesofhistory.com or Frames of History on Facebook for more.
@@youianmac wasn't there a town called Merbeam?
@@MrTyroneweaver There was and is a town called Merbein. Have a look on that page I suggested - there's a podcast there about it.
@@MrTyroneweaver Merbein. I lived there from 1970 to 1976. Used to go to Kenny Park on a Saturday afternoon in winter to watch Graham "Tommy" Bland kick a bag for the might maggies.
Has it got diesel engine
Yes. It has a 47hp Yamaha 3 cylinder Diesel engine. At 2100 rpm it uses about 3.5 litres an hour. These days I mostly sail the boat unless conditions are against me.
Wow, what a flashback, one of the first 45er vinyls I ever owned. Great song.
I'd have preferred an informed commentary to musak...
Stunning just a piece of art! ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Is this a bluewater ⛵?
Has any one on line put a new fuel tank in a fisher 30 Boat???
Nope but I heard that you can't swap the tank on a Fisher 37 without removing the engine, which is in itself difficult.
Friend of mine hopes to be on Kingurra for next years Sydney-Hobart
Good to see you flying the Red Duster. Nothing like a bit of tradition 🙂
There used to be a really good fish shop at Seaford
When you go home speak of us and say for your tomorrows, we gave our today's. Years ago I was in the Army Reserve at Sandringham
Do you find you miss not being in the open air in the cockpit on a nice day? Are the sheets and halyards any more difficult with the motor saler where you have to come out of the pilothouse?
Hi Colin. I spend most of my time sailing using the tiller and so the sheets are right there where I need them. Of course I’m in the pilot house when I bring the boat home and the tricky part when single handed is getting out of the the pilot house to get control the boat in the pen. Here - practice is the key!
@@youianmac thanks mate. Fair winds and smooth seas
youianmac Curious how is your visibility when using tiller in cockpit. Does the pilothouse cause much obstruction? Thanks.
Hi . Love the video and the boat 👍 do you have any tips on buying one of this quality ? in melb area ? martin
Thanks Martin. The 4 that are in the Melb area are treasured I'm afraid. There were 18 of the Barlow boats made and 5 later models. They come up for sale around the country occasionally but you need to be quick when they do. Good luck
I love The Fisher 32. Can you do a boat tour?
I thought it was going to be Keith Lamb .....did they get their name off these guys....wonder if they are still around Mildura.
Not sure who had the name first. I'll find out. I know at least one of the guys is still in Mildura and one lives in Melbourne.
You can see Marshall’s portable Music Machine on the Mike Walsh today show 1977 Ref utube
In 2017 I just missed out on purchasing Evelyn Grace by 4 hours apparently. I am still looking for a good 32. Love to make contact if possible. Email at thewanderingbarber@icloud.com
Would be a great live aboard
It would - but time only allows the occasional trip at the moment I'm afraid.
Nice to see one without a mizzen.
i was on one earlier today, the owner stated that the 32's werent built with a Mizzen.
That’s looks like a Cavalier 37, like Kay Cottee had.
The skipper tells me its a Catalina 30.
youianmac , that was going to be my Second-guess
I have never seen Dolphins and seals playing together like that.
It went on for quite a while too. They all seemed to be having fun !
youianmac Specially the people in the boat!!
But you are at HBYC
Hope, I'm at SYC. Theres a boat at HBYC that looks like mine though !
youianmac ,ok sorry for the confusion
Oh I just said hi to you on Sunday at HBYC
Really !! Well Hagar is now based out of HBYC. I guess I'll be heading over there more often aboard my F32 now too !
Hi I wanted to ask if you can sail this type of boat like a normal sailing boat, albeit at 4-5kn. What I mean is, does the engine have to be running for it to be useable? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't know where else to ask.)
Hi. No you certainly don't need to run the engine all the time. Mine will sail very will in anything above 10 kts of breeze. It won't point very high but with the wind 30-60 degrees off the nose it's perfect. Most of the recent clips on my channel with b the boat sailing are purely under sail. In Port Phillip there are 3 other F32's and we all enjoy sailing.
Great, thanks for answering!
This is the best one you have done
Thanks Capt. Most of my work lately has been over on ORCV's channel a lot of which appears on: melbourneosaka.com :)
Robin Jolley had an awesome presence on stage and in person... A wonderful Australian talent... This is a trip down memory lane for sure.
Beautiful day, Ian!1
Nice
Nice one keep it up.
I was thing of going there this Wednesday
Nice, I have been going to Port Arlington for over 30 years on vessels and my own yacht. Great place to to anchor.
nice
I love this. I had a cd of Glyn & Sam doing a gig. But it went the way of some of my cd's & now I miss it. It was a live set with High life & many other tracks on it. Does anyone know where I can get it?
Been there done that , thanks for showing it, I was there in 12 /2015. love your boat /yacht
hi , I went they the same day on my yacht.
well you had three days of no wind.
When you say Victoria, is that in Canada? (I hope so) If so, where is she now, and if for sale, how much? Michael Latta - narwhalmike@gmail.com

ahh regional televison
I was in Ballarat recently and most of the businesses they used to flog on Six Tonight/Thursday Night Live/Wednesday Night Live such as Messer and Opie Mensland, Frank Ford Travel and Batch's Complete Home Furnishers are still around today and seeing their names reminded me of Six Tonight and the glory days of pre-aggregation Ballarat Television.
