Kiepe Electric 1966 & 1965 | June 2020 & May 2021
Two older videos I recorded of Kiepe 1966 & 1965. 1966 is pulling into Eastown out of service with the special sign "Congrats Class of 2020."
The video of 1965 is the last video I recorded of a trolleybus running Rt 3 Wayne Ave to Eastown Hub. Rt 3 service was later retired a month later in June 2021.

Why does this one sound different from the others?
You can hear the monster engine in the Flxible Metro
That engine sounds amazing ❤️❤️❤️
The #110 looks like a 1970s GMC "fishbowl" transit bus. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
Love them Detroits!
Ohh HELL NO!! Its still Alive????? Looks fantastic
RTS's #9140-#9149 from the MTA had this same powertrain (Cummins M11E/Allison V731). #9141 for some reason got repowered back to it's original Series 50.
Trolley buses are so much more dependable and efficient than EVs.
Thank You!
Man the sounds of this video takes me back to childhood. I miss the transitmaster audio announcements
nice video keep it up
lonw5 vum.fyi
Nothing like a Detroit Diesel engine with Allison Transmission to get you anywhere
Funny how this bus is now up for auction
Can't believe how many we got now !
Wow, they're very quiet
Do you know how many 2008 and 2009 Gilligs we still have
I think only a hand full of each. Most went to Toledo.
@@CWDAYTrolleys dang because l don't see them out at all
@@CWDAYTrolleys how many 9800s do we have now it was 10
@@darrylclay2105 Only 5 left in the garage: 9802, 9803, 9809, 9834, & 9835.
@@CWDAYTrolleys what happened to the other ones
Do you think they will have the 9800s running tonight
ETIs won't be back until the construction on Jefferson is finished.
@@CWDAYTrolleys oh ok did you like the Gilligs the 2700s that we had
@@CWDAYTrolleys hey l got some bad news
Bad news?
@@CWDAYTrolleys yeah 9842 retired it's at the scrapyard
Great video bro was this taken on Friday
Darryl Clay Yes this was taken yesterday.
@@CWDAYTrolleys ok will the 9800s be back Monday
Nice! You were in the right place at the right time.
Nice video and nice music! Gotta love that dual mode NexGen action. I'm assuming this is a diesel-electric hybrid given the route?
Abraham Moller Thanks! Yes 1401 is a diesel-electric, however, the plan is to have the new order of battery-electric Kiepes to also run this route.
Great video
Thanks, I thought I already had this video up. It's from 2014.
did you hear we have new gilligs 1900s
@@CWDAYTrolleys oh ok your welcome do you not riding the Gilligs
Yes, some 1900's both diesel and trolleybus have been delivered.
My main focus is the trolleybuses, but I do have photos and video of diesels.
Awesome video bro
did you remember when the last of the 2300s retired
bro great video lm a big fan of RTA buses lol 😁 please keep doing more of these buses
Since the weather has been warmer I'm going to get out more and get photos and video.
@@CWDAYTrolleys thanks man do you remember the baby New flyers that RTA had
Darryl Clay Yes, I remember riding them. Especially on the short lived route 32. I have a few photos of them. I’ll have to put them on the website soon.
@@CWDAYTrolleys OMG that's cool l loved the New flyers 2300s and 2100s which ones did you ride
@@darrylclay2105 Out of the New Flyers I've probably ridden most likely all of them at some point in time.
why did they put 9802 back in yellow again
you mean "T8H5307A"?
www.ctha.org/Rosters/ctharoster.asp
just to correct you this bus is build by General motors Diesel Division (GMDD) of canada not GMCof USA
1992 Flxible Metro "C" 40102-6T with Detroit Diesel 6V92TA DDEC engine and Allison VR731 transmission.
Both series had the Detroit Diesel with Allison 6v92TA transmission, so yes they would've sounded similar.
They didn't get rid of Route 24. Look at their website under schedules.
When did MVRTA got rid of Route 24- Salem/ Dayton Mall route? I remember rode these on that route when they were still new in Early Spring 1998.
@Pat jonesy go to my page i got two vids of it
I remember seeing these back in 2002 when I was visiting Dayton
San Francisco Still have ETIs
Also Dayton RTA is planning on replacing the ETIs with other trolleys. Not sure what yet.
The old City Transit paint scheme is a classic. It's almost how people from Dayton can tell a trolley is coming down the road from a distance. When they first painted 9802 in the new green look I thought it was sharp too! For whatever reason they have stopped painting rebuilds in the green scheme. The Trotwood trolley Rt. 8 is stil diesel until construction is complete on the westbound portion of that route. I believe there are 25+ that are still in active routing.
I really like the old RTA logo, the old paint scheme is so-so for me. I think the new scheme fits these buses well. Thank you for the upload! Do they still run the trolleys down into trotwood? I havn't seen one in a long time? And do you know how many trolleys are left and if they plan to use them for the next 15 or so years? Thanks again :)
Have you rode there New flyers
I've tried for two different postions within the last three years. The best thing I could do would be IT related work or customer service. Wouldn't mind working in the trolley shop.
The only reason why I miss them is that they are the last RTS series bus in Dayton. I've also experienced them breaking down while ridding them; not fun on a hot summer day. I take it that you're not a big trolley fan by that statement.
You should work for RTA!
I do not miss the Novas at all. I heard they were great when they were new, but they constantly broke down on me; especially the back door not closing completely. I'd rather drive a trolley. Thankfully the Novas are no longer in service.
Did you remember the 30 foot New flyers from greater Dayton rta
That it is. Can't wait until for the demo trolleys to get here. That is when a vendor has won the bid.
Sounds like the old 22 routing Derby/Birdland - VA Center, Downtown, Northridge, Miller Lane. During the late 90's early 2000's I can recall the same bus series running on the 22. Now I wish I had a camera/camcorder back then.
Good to see the trolley buses up & running again!
Those were the good old days.
I miss the sounds of a 6V92TA.
Yes 9830 is still alive. It's really awesome since it was the first ETI to receive a digital destination sign. For that matter, the sign came from a 800 series GMC RTS. 9865? That number doesn't exist the range is 9801-9854. I do recall the cracked frame issue in 99/00. I'm sure when RTA gets the new trolley fleet I'll have a chance to take pictures and video of ETIs and the new fleet running together.
You would be surprised of the speed they get if there is no switching, crossings, or passengers to pick up. You really should ride the Route 5 to Far Hills and Stroup Rd. I'm sure the trolley would pick up some speed after Brown St.
There are about 30 or so that are still in operable condition. Most of which are rehabbed or planning to be rehabbed over the next few months. Not sure what vendor will win the bid to build the new trolleys. I'm thinking the best option would be New Flyer.
Those buses are SOO slow... haha, I kind of want to ride one though, because I just haven't before, I've only ridden the new green ones and the older white ones. :]
@busdriverohio You're correct. Route 5 should return once they run feeder wire in front of the old Frank Z car lot on Brown St. If you search daytonbuses on Flickr you'll see a picture of a test run on Route 5 north just a week ago. Hopefully Route 8 can return, 7 might take longer. Route 4 is almost complete were they've combined Route 3 old wire and were 4 runs now.
