that was great, I was trying to figer out how to get the filter out because it will not fit out the top, never even thought about removing the splash plate doh, cheers John NZ
Glad you found it helpful. Removing the splash plate makes it a lot easier :)
Thanks for explaining how to install the nut and including the torque specs.
Glad you got something out of the video and it had the information you needed :)
FYI, just got the 'remanufactured master cylinder' back - (resleeved and kit) after contributing $688.33 - ouch.
Wow that's a bit of a price difference. Glad you got it sorted :)
😊❤
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for the great video of the step by step process. I am now confident to tackle this project myself. How much did the reconditioning etc cost?
Glad this video helped you and gave you the confidence to tackle it yourself. From memory it was around $360 for the stainless steel sleeve and rebuild for the master cylinder and around $160 for genuine Toyota slave cylinder brand new.
@@handymandan8250 Thanks for the $$. FYI, found out where the cylinders are worked on and after removing it, will contact the re-builder directly. I hope that its just a new set of seals, cheaper. Thanks Frank.
Hey dan whats the cool tool you use to put the oil in with?
Hey, Its a Josco Drill Powered pump. The link to it is in the description :)
Awesome tutorial 👌
Thanks, glad you found it useful :)
Excellent tutorial, but why was the slave switched, was it leaking?
Because the master cylinder seals had perished the fluid was really contaminated. For the slight extra money and time it was worth doing as it means we won't have any issues down the track :)
Do you need to remove the transmission pan to remove all the oil? Or the flush would do the job ? Also, isn’t there a filter inside the gearbox/transmission that needs replacing?
This gearbox doesn't have a pan you can remove. It only has the fill hole or drain hole and no internal filter. Removable pans and internal filters are more common in automatic transmissions. Doing a flush cycle is better than just doing a change as you have more chance of removing any contaminants or debris in the gearbox 👍
thank you thank you thank you...great job love it
Glad you found it helpful. Please like and subscribe as I’ve got more coaster videos coming up
I have the same problem on my ford transit/tourneo 2.2 tdci , i chane this nut but the pipe come out when i try to go on left or right, can you help me please
Thanks man. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful :)
I would suggest doing some research on why you were not to use the hose clamps you replaced the original clamp with.
Awesome Dan!!
Great little video mate , great help , cheers from NZ
What was the result of the white teflon seal and breaking away from the rest of the seal?
The securing bolt has an external Teflon seal, but where the pipe passes through the bolt there is a snap ring and possibly an internal seal. You can get new bolts for around £10 sterling. Getting the old one off is the problem caused by the snap ring gripping the pipe. There is a UA-cam video showing how it can be done ….one slip and the cutting disc can cut the pipe. I found a pipe in a scrap yard and it did the job. I’ve just ordered a bolt and then I’ll try and replace it myself….I’ll use a disc to remove the threads and hand saw gently and file to cut down to the snap ring. Is it worth it ? Well Ford wanted to charge me £125 or £225 for a new pipe….I was in shock so I’ve forgotten which !!
When the drain hose is in the bottle, you can turn the steering lock to lock to drain the system WITHOUT the engine running. You can still flush the system by using the steering wheel rather than starting the engine and risk running the pump dry if you dont have assistance. To fill up you replace all hoses, fill the reservoir then steer from lock to lock, again without the engine running. This will pull through the fluid without running the engine. Once it has pulled enough oil through you can start the engine and bleed the system as you show in the video. 👍
Another Tip for people doing this is make sure you undo the filler plug first because if you the drain oil first and empty the oil and the filler plug is stripped or seized you may be stuffed for the moment being able to drive.
Luckily he mentions that in the video
Hello mate, I have a mk6 transit luton van. My steering went stiff out of nowhere, along with the brake pedal stiffening up. I can't even get in the bonnet to check but managed to see the belt has shredded itself, could you give any advice? Is the belt a drive belt? Or another type?
Hi Ron Diggz, Sounds like a shredded belt but you'll know more once you get the bonnet open. They run a multi ribbed drive belt. I normally run a 7PK2875 Multi Ribbed Drive Belt on our VH transit 2.4L Diesel with A/C. If you don't have A/C you'll need a different length belt. The belt shredding could have damaged other components so best to check everything thoroughly while changing the belt :)
@@handymandan8250 thank you mate, I took the grill off and yeah I don't think it had been changed, but will check everything. Appreciate it guys
Excellent video. I've the same problem on my mk7 and I was thinking I'd have to buy a while new pipe.
Thanks so much and glad it was helpful. Fingers crossed the job went smoothly and easily for you. Can be a bit fiddly but way cheaper then a new pipe.
75-90 is in the mk7 transits owners manual
Interesting that that is what your manual says, my workshop manual for the VH/VJ transit specifies : 'This mechanical manual transmission also uses transmission oil with the oil specification WSD-M2C200-C.' So all you need to do is meet this specification for the oil to meet the standard required for the MT82 gearbox. Thanks for commenting :)
@@handymandan8250 2012 ford transit rwd jumbo,i changed the transmission oil and added a lucas transmission fix, fixed the leak and 1st to 2nd gear was a bit hard to change and now it feels like new, dont have to force it anymore, smooth, that lucas stuff does wonders, thousands of positive videos on it, even scotty kilmer recommended it. mechanic told me 300 for transmission oil change lol, i done it for $60 and 20 mins.
Why mechanics have to do a trade. Good try
Absolutely mechanics need to do a trade, it’s a simple enough job that most diyers can do with a little information / work shop manual. Saves a lot of money doing easy jobs like this diy 😊
Those one use power steering union connections can be a nightmare to remove, your very lucky it came of on its own , can easily damage the pipe cutting it of , new pipes expensive. Great comprehensive video .
Great Commentary on a Difficult Job !. Well Done.
Thanks so much, it’s always difficult to work out how in-depth to go without making the videos too long
How did you bleed it?
A video on bleeding 🤔
Hey 👋, you bleed them the same as most other cars/ trucks. The principle is still the same so you can watch any other brake bleeding video and it’ll point you in the right direction.
Watt blue on your transit did the pipe come out the top of the power steering pump
Yeah it was the high pressure line coming from the power steering pump that blew. Was a super cheap fix just time consuming :)
Thanks....You took the time and effort to video your process so that in itself deserves a comment and like.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video :)
Yeeehawwww clever dude
thank you
