Thanks mate. This has been a massive confidence booster. I’m a 34 year old prison officer that’s looking at joining the army (infantry) or police (with an eye towards specialist roles). Although still playing footy and being fit I was worried I was already too old. This has potentially hanged my outlook.

This is great and very underrated content! I know several guys who completed SASR selection. Very interesting to hear the persepective here of someone who has both passed selection and been a member of the DS. Check out a doco called 'battle for the golden road' about SASR selection several decades ago, someone uploaded it to youtube not too long ago.

Hi man just wondering are you American. I'm Australian, would this be the same for 2 Commando Regiment and SASR (the special operations in Australia)? Also right now I really want to go Special Operations. Any tips on training, I'm 14, I do Army Cadets and I recently just started the gym and do a little bit of running. I relise it takes years and years to get physcally and mentally ready. Do you have a training plan or any tips that I can follow/do so that by the time I want to go to SF I would be ready. Also I'm not going direct entry, I plan on going through Infantry and build that fitness then go for SF, any tips?

This seems relatable to making ammo during the week just to go shooting on the weekend. You get your powder, your primer, your brass cases and your bullets altogether and made into something you can shoot off. It's a finicky process the whole week, but when it's over and done and you've got yourself 500 rounds you can blast away you think it was all worth it. Just my take on it as an Aussie shooter.
