    A much better machine than the Weldanpower 150 AC portable. Might qualify as an antique now. Are parts for the welder half still supported by Lincoln? AL B.

    You sure you want to take that entire thing apart? Getting it back together really squared up and within tolerance where it'll be useable seems like a monumental task. It's a 20 ton machine, a crane that picks that isn't that expensive.

    • @hiddenworldforge374
      @hiddenworldforge374 3 місяці тому

      Absolutely. I have to remove the chuck to repair the bearings and that requires the machine to be about 3' off the ground. These machines were designed to come apart and be transported in pieces, and squaring it up is pretty easy (everything has jacking bolts for adjustment)

    I like all the widows, daylight is best for machining. That tongue and grove will clean up well, and make nice walls and ceiling. it will hide insulation and wires. There is a product called "Flame Stop II", can be applied by brush, and is relatively clear for staining. If the T&G is oriented horizontally, it will follow the curve of the structure and look nice. Some of those wooden doors will come in handy somewhere. I saw a nice wood stove, hope you can keep it. If you have room on your property, you should keeps lots of it. You can throw it away later, or trade it. I love junk!

    Nice addition to your shop The 31 is a little borer it weighs 14k if its the standard orientation, so you werent too over the capacity Nice you got a line bar with it, lucky man The plate was added later, theres a 4 hole mount on the spindle face, clean all that goop off the spindle bar, before you run it back in. That machine will have bronze spindle bearings so it wont ever bore a truly round hole the clutch will be asbestos lined so if you are taking it completely apart use a respirator If you send lucas the serial they can get you some info on the exact machine, including build date and some extremely basic manuals

    • @hiddenworldforge374
      @hiddenworldforge374 6 місяців тому

      Thank you, I knew the plate was an add on. I'm debating trying to swap out the bronze bearings for taper roller bearings (I've heard of others doing that- mostly for higher speeds). For now I'll run it as-is, the rest of the machine is very, very worn out so I may just replace it with a newer/nicer HBM in the future.

    • @procyonia3654
      @procyonia3654 6 місяців тому

      @@hiddenworldforge374 I've done a swap from bronze bearings to tapered roller bearings before on a Lucas 41, It was rather involved but not impossible. Idk if I'd suggest it, but it certainly can work. If you do buy a newer borer, if you can find a 41b or a small TOS h63 I think you'd be set. Until then I am sure what you've got can be made to work. The 31s aren't bad machines, they atleast have Rapid traverse in All axis. I used to own a 21, which was the series before the 31, it only had rapid traverse on headstock up and down and no feed for the table in and out. 31 is way better than that, even if it's got a few miles on it

    • @hiddenworldforge374
      @hiddenworldforge374 6 місяців тому

      @@procyonia3654 Absolutely, it's in no way a bad machine. Whether I upgrade depends on how much use I truly get out of it, but for now it's a perfect machine for me. I'll have to make a lot of new parts for it before I upgrade the bearings
