Remake is after Dirge. In advent children sephiroth says he is going to join with the life stream and use the planet as a well to go to other planets. Eventually corrupting the lifestreams of the entire cosmos. In dirge the planet is cut off from the universal lifestream thwarting his entire plan. So remake is his attempt to undo the events leading up to the planet being cut off from the universal life stream

Evil dead the 2013 remake completely shit on Evil dead rise.. watched it yesterday and was completely disappointed. The story line sucked and there was absolutely no gore scene worth hyping about..it completely sucked.. I’m happy I didn’t waste my money buying a ticket.

The cgi was kind of bad in the final act. I wish they were more practical at the end. The practical effects were really good. The story was kinda meh

For me, working on this piece was an extraordinary experience. The cast and crew that I worked with were exemplary. Doing the scene with Sean was literally spine tingling for me. Now, as you know, I"m a secularist, so please do not take offense at this comment. It's not meant to be inflammatory or combative in the least! I over-stress this, because I want to be very clear that I will not judge anyone's belief system. For me the film was a debate, and it was very effective in that regard. I was relieved there were no clever CGI moments. It was all driven by the conversation between these two men. Whether or not Edward was faking his 'split' or not is irrelevant. The doctor was a by-the-book shrink, or so he portrayed himself to be, which is monumentally ironic, as there are no constants in psychology. He was constantly trying very hard to fit Edward into some template, and that made me smile. As it progressed, Edward chipped away at the doctor's templates until the doctor was malleable as putty. It reminded me of how cults break down the personality of the incumbents, so they can be molded into whatever shape the cult leader wants. This is very close to what happens in this film. Edward was in control throughout, even when he was pretending to be weak and frightened. It was a remarkable manipulation on Edward's part. Brilliant. He had the 'Marlin' Doctor on his hook. He would pull & let it go slack, pull again, then give it more slack. You knew he was going to land that Marlin. I'm a secularist, so I viewed this piece through a humanist lens obviously, and it didn't disappoint me at all. What consistently irritates me is the knee jerk reaction by many who view out-of-the-ordinary events to go to the act-of-God or act-of-Satan notions. We know so very little about the depth and breadth of human consciousness, what it's capable of. It's consistently denigrated. Now, I am not one of those secularists who froth at the mouth at a mere mention of a deity. I have Christian friends and we have many fascinating discussions, even debates at times, but very few, because there's no crossover from a logic based system to a faith based system. I loved this film for how it revealed the evil-place in the doctor, and by evil-place I mean how rigid his belief system was and how breakable it is, how easy it was for him to be re-molded by genuine nihilism/Edward. I'm equating the evil-place with flimsiness, with genuine weakness, with a system that cannot stand on its own in a real storm but collapses at once, and becomes a fertile petrie dish for active evil, i.e., acts of destruction for destruction' sake. I'm not thinking in terms of angels, devils, God or Satan. My appreciation of this film is firmly grounded on earth and human consciousness.

I knew to stay miles away from this garbage. Hollywood stopped maked good movies in the early 2000s

there is no way it's gorier than Ash Vs Evil Dead. these remakes are not fun at all, they're basically just emo body horror flicks. without the over the top crazy stuff and campy jokes it will never be Evil Dead in my book.. the necronomicon

Oh hell no.... this Satan-phobia needs to stop. EVIL DEAD RISE was fun. Schindler's List was torture. I read the book after I saw the film and the book was not as violent and bloody as the film. 😅😅

The TV show gave more lore, but I did want more lore from this movie as well

Boring movie, did nothing at all new for the Evil Dead universe. Lacked the fun of Evil Dead. Worst Evil dead

It kinda sucked. The movie plot was rushed and the 2 older kids were annoying. Also Bruce should have done a cameo for his fans. Very disappointed he did not want to participate.

Watched it twice so far. After seeing the trailer, I want going to watch it because I'm a bit sensitive but after hearing some pastors review it, decided to go. Loved this movie! So much truth about what's going on in the spiritual realms.

very good review here. I really liked this movie and wasn't even sure if I liked it, but it hooked me. Pace was really good. Acting fantastic. Good dialogue for the mind. Nefarious was intimidating. An entity since before creation. The most rational being you've ever met. Out to destroy people overtly.

Just saw it.. was decent. Would never care to watch it again though. Good for a one time watch at least.

Both of the lead actors were strong, but the guy who played poor Edward stole the show imho.
