I liked this video. Before I saw you trace on the wood, I thought: I bet he’ll cut out the pattern twice as thick as intended. After sanding down, cut in half making two identical pieces. Finally sand the just cut rough edges.

You didnt show how you placed the electric into the shade. You also didnt show removing the cardboard. Those are key necessary steps.
