Wow, that’s crazy that 7-11 just got there! They were in Japan when I was stationed there from 1988-1991! When I lived in Okinawa from 74-77, we called them mamason- papason stores. My sister and I used to get these drinks in what looked like mini milk bottles and I just remember the ones we got tasted kind of like bubble gum!

I lived in Kadena Circle in 65-66, and on base 66-68. In fact, I lived in Naha as a toddler back in 58-60. The first Mexican (my favorite food) I had was at the Lima Restaurant in Koza.

I lived and worked on Okinawa 1975-1978 and nothing in these videos apart from a single beach is familiar to me at all. I worked at Evan's Clinic on Camp Butler (USMC) and went to lunch at Kadena's Anderson Dining Facility (the best in the Air Force at the time) and that was less than a mile up the road.

Sunabe seawall was the hangout. Kadena High School graduate 92' Thanks for sharing, brings back so many memories. Im from Hawaii so I felt right at home in Okinawa being an island and all. Maeda point cave was another great spot too. Love Okinawa my second home♥

We lived in Okie for 14 yrs, and miss it to this day. We left there 1 Jul 94, before internet, cheap phone calls, msgr phone calls....we LOVED it there for the 14 yrs we lived there and would go back in a NY second if possible. There was a "supposed" rape by USMC in Kinville back in the 80's that created issues, but I personally think the USMC created these issues. When you send USMC unaccompanied to a place ever other branch of the service got accompanied status with families, you create your own problems. MOS is your job series status at the time....been retired since 2001
