Almond Blossoms in a Glass on Green and Red
Переглядів 82610 місяців тому
"Almond Blossoms in a Glass on Green and Red Oil on canvas - 16"x20" It was a rainy day, so I decided to bring some almond branches in for a still life, inspired by Van Gogh. I am reminded of how precious life is by observing the fragile and delicate beauty of each almond blossom. The phenomenon is how tenacious the flowers are and how they cling to their stems even in the strongest wind and th...
Painting the Almond Blossoms

Celebrating the almond blossom in a painting immortalises the fragile blossom, reminding us of how precious life is. I see the blossoms; I contemplate the path of the petals as they leave the branches and become part of the sky. Each petal is free, transported by the wind to a destiny not known, not planned, in the hands of the Holy Spirit. I shall not want, I say to myself. I paint. I become t...

Join me as I return to my oil painting, plein-air practise in Provence. I have been busy with art shows for the past 5 weeks and I am thrilled to be back in nature doing landscape painting. I hope you will be soothed by the serene meanderings amongst the olive trees and the peaceful piano music to accompany it.

To celebrate the French national holiday, I am reflecting on the notion of liberté. This year I am particularly reminded of this word’s significance as it relates to my art mentor Leo Marchutz and the trials he faced as a German national in France during WWII. The Act of Painting

Every musician has their own instrument and their own way of playing. My canvas is the musical piece and my palette is the instrument. My way of playing is improvisation, where the brushstrokes would be guided by my intuition and my senses in the moment without fear of hitting a wrong note.
Summer Camp

As a child and young adult, I spent my summers going to camp on Lookout Mountain, where I learned about love and belonging through nature and through the spirits of my fellow campers. I wholeheartedly believe in summer camp as an opportunity for children to gain independence and self-confidence, experience belonging, develop relationships and establish values that will last a lifetime. To celeb...

I love working with color and the dynamics between two complementary colors: yellow-golden & blue-purple colors. I've been going out every evening to see the sunset. Lately as the sun has been setting, there has been a full moon coming up in the other direction. It takes me into a different realm of life, and makes me realize that life is full of the unexpected. So tonight, I am leaving open th...

I sometimes like to take a painting that I've already done, or a painting by a great master and learn from it by making a copy. Today I am doing a copy of a painting I did in 1997 and putting it up to use as my model. In my mind I'm remembering how it felt to be out there in the courtyard with the turkey - all the gestures, squawks, scratches and noises they make. I'm trying to open my mind to ...

Thank you to share your beautiful journey ! 🎉🙏👩🎨❤️
Very beautiful and inspiring! Watching you talk about your artistic process connected me to my own. This connection is important to always keep alive. Thank you!🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Hi, thank you for the feedback. Some comment that they love it because there are no ads. I’m not sure but maybe if you go through my website www.artinprovence.com to see it, there will be no ads or maybe you have to be subscribed to UA-cam. If you find out, let me know.
this is a beautiful film. unfortunately everytime i sink into it an advertisment comes on and breaks the spell. very disappointing. 8 ads in 20 mins
Dear Jill, from the frst moment on your horse sliding through the pines, to the almond blossoms decending like little wings to earth, I love love loved your grace-filled delicate and tender depiction of yor world. I feel akin to you in many ways and from my heart to yours, I send love and gratitide. Thank you! Love Allis Hamilton
So sorry you lost your sister. I started painting 3 years ago when my Mom died. I was 57 at the time. The grief is still very much present, but art helps in a way I can’t explain. Wishing you all the best.
Hay mucho de espiritualidad en algunas personas que evolucionan a través del arte BENDICIONES... GRACIAS POR EL VIDEO
ahhh... for the luxury of silence - of having a horse, a hill, a place to get away from the busy world. Not everyone has that good fortune. And if not, you have to find that place inside of you where it is silent and in the smallest things of nature - a bird, a bee, a bug, a flower, sky through branches of a tree.
Wow. What a beautiful, thought-provoking film. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to watch it and meeting me, soul to soul.
Oh it’s beautiful .
the images at around 32 minutes are very lovely. thanks for sharing. most appreciate the delicate simplicity of the work.
How beautiful the flow, the narrative, the journey! As an artist I found inspiration in her thoughts about life, her direction in life and the joy of meeting her life partner so satisfying. As an inspiring film maker the film was brilliant!
Thank you for your wonderful feedback. If you ever come to Aix-en-Provence, let me know and we will paint together. I will tell James how inspiring the film was. He also composed the music for the film.
Quel magnifique film! Sensible, poétique et inspirant, merci pour votre partage 🙏
❤
I want to live in such beauty ❤
It's never too late. Provence is waiting.
A beautiful film and a beautiful person
Thank you. What a wonderful message to receive as I start my day. Off I go to paint.
My favorite quote from this beautifull video “ once you have tasted the unknowb thats what you Seem” 🎶🐦⬛🎵🖤
Yes, then you definitely understood the essence of my philosophy. "Once you have tasted the unknown, that's what you seek." Yes, thank you for reminding me of my own words. Off I go to paint thinking with these words in my mind.
Oh Jill, I went to Covenant College in 1977 on Lookout Mountain! I was a young girl from a home of alcohol abuse and trauma where God was non-existent. I found God on that mountain and part my heart is still there. A few yrs ago while traveling through, I stopped on my way home to Texas. As I wound my way up into the clouds and ascended, every memory, every experience came flooding back. It was on that mountain that I cultivated my love for Messiah Jesus and learned how to grow as a beloved daughter of The Most High God. I put my love for art on hold while I raised and homeschooled my children. It hasn’t been until the last few yrs that everyday I am privileged to go to my art studio that my husband lovingly built for me on our beautiful pine tree farm. I have finally gone beyond the fear of failing and spreading my wings in watercolor florals….big bright florals! I share on X not bc I’m accomplished 😂 but bc it has helped me get past my fear of failure. I’ve found a newly inspired joy from God in the quietness of my mornings putting water and color onto paper and standing amazed as it dances across the page! Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. BTW…love love love the scene of your husband and you dancing! ❤ May you dance many more years! ❤
Thank you for your message, full of Light and Hope. I loved reading your sensations when you drove back up Lookout Mountain and the rush of memories that flooded in to recall poignant moments that made you who you are today. I undersand. I am so glad you are painting and letting each paintng be a prayer. Keeping dancing with your paint brushes.

Thank you for taking the time to watch the film and for responding.
IT IS IN GIVING THAT WE RECIEVE.. THIS STORY WAS SO HEARTFELT.. I also became a widow @ a young age . My girls were 9,8& 6 yo. I found that art heals and have always loved painting . Now in my 60s have really engaged with it and have time to reset and I'm able to enjoy this passion of mine . Keeping the Faith And painting with all my soul. Art heals. Thks for sharing such a Beautiful story. Remain perfectly imperfect.
Thank you for your message and for sharing a bit of your story. Keep painting.
I like it best when she isn't talking 'spiritual.'

Beautiful love story inside. Inspirational really!
Thank you for sharing your beautifull and deep process that really resonates and inspire to search and inspire how drawing and painting are a kind of Silent dialoque with Nature and intense sending of life 🎶🩶🤍🖤🎵
I love to move in synk with Nature in stillness - it makes me feel totally alive 💚💚💚
Jill, this was one of the most beautiful and inspiring films I have ever seen. What a beautiful gift I found on my feed! I identified with your creative process and moments of solitude, and this fueled me to continue learning art, as it saves me daily. Thank you for being such a beautiful inspiration. 🌸
Lovely story. It was inspiring. I spent my adult years visiting Georgia to visit my sister. My only trip to France was a field trip weekend with my art class. I enjoyed all the countryside scenes in this film. Your art is fabulous, and love your drawings and your rich color pallette.
This video carries peace
I hope that in my next life I will be NOT a "starving" artist but supported and encouraged and able to ha gorgeouscstudio ike that but if not - I will do it anyway.. aand music too.
This was a very beautiful and well done documentary full of wisdom, richness, meaning and food for thought. Thank you for sharing. 🙏
She was just brilliant with her story..i feel as an artist myself ...l learnt a lot from her...i was absorbed in her world from beginning to end...and felt very relaxed afterwards...and i know now nitjing has to be perfect when you are painting imperfections they are part of the process and learning curve.....thank you for your story. You made my day and now want to start creating again....xxx
Thank you for this❤
For me the phrase: “There is a dance that begins with nature” expresses the moving into open yet totally focused presence 🎶♥️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷🤍🩶🖤🎵
Yes, and a presence that reveals a mystery if we abandon ourselves enough to receive it.
I love your art and reflection on the process - its so much more than analytical mind and Control - its the very presence into the unknown - so inspiring 🙏♥️♥️♥️
Thank you. I know when I stay on the safe land that I subdue and master, I will not find the unknown. It takes guts. It takes faith. Concentrating on words like "presence" and pushing myself to an urgency in order to bypass the intellect helps to let go and not calculate.
Its funny im 24 and i felt like a part of me has lived in your life. I see similarity, maybe its just my perception but i felt like there's someone who feels like me and now i know I've to go beyond as a new generation. Not sure if it's even a right thing to say. ❤ Much love from my soul to you 🌷🙏❤
What a beautiful film! Above all what awe-inspiring sentiments and thoughts! I resonate with the bond with nature and hope to be able to approach my own work with that same spirit.
So very true and so beautifully expressed 🙏🎶🐦⬛🎵🖤
Merci for taking the time to watch Painting the Invisible. Your comment makes me happy.
Thank you for sharing your holistic spirit of painting which seems every brush stroke or push of paint is funded by the total love of Life in everything including what we can’t see. I appreciate your videos very much. Thank you again.
Thank you for your intuitive comment. Makes me happy that you got it and we connected through the film in a spiritual way.
