In this second half of our examination, we study the second problem God identifies in His people: Stubbornness. And we also look at the beautiful encouragement found in the midst of the conviction: God deals with us according to His mercy, w...

Why don't we start by making birth control easier to obtain and by having "Right To Life" groups signing contracts to adopt the children no matter what infirmities the child has and no matter what race the child is?
Hi thanks for taking the time to engage with our channel! Adoption is absolutely something we should be pursuing and committing to; we couldn't agree with you more.
Dude, politics and religion need to stay out of personal choice. It is truly sad that as a species some of us still refer to bronze age storytelling as a means of navigating morden day issues. If a woman do not want a child due to a number of reasons if that child is unwantedly brought into the world that child can be subject to a number of traumas for the sake of pleasing a bunch of religious extremists!
Thank you for making the personal choice of taking the time to watch, and share your opinion on our decisions. Since it seems you're interested in engaging in this conversation with us, we'd love to continue the dialogue if you're willing. May we ask- where do you believe we get our sense of ethics and morality from?
@@CBCMansfield thanks for your reply, I believe that our ethics and morals come as a result of our evolved consciousness driving us to do minimal harm and for preservation of our species. I believe these constructs came from a lot of trial and error!
@@kelvinhooks9399 hey thanks for replying back! We're always interested in conversations so it's exciting when someone engages; we appreciate your time. Ok, thank you for sharing. Since what we're ultimately getting at is the question "what is truth and where does it come from" we want to make sure we're fully understanding your position and giving you every opportunity to share. Do you believe there are ethics and morality that are universally true for all peoples across time (and could therefore be applied to people in the past or should be expected of people in the future)?
@@CBCMansfield I like to thank you again for getting back to me. I really enjoy this topic, I find it to be somewhat therapeutic but also productive for our society. Regardless of belief (which I'm a none believer) there are things that I have noticed that changes over time and ethics and morality are definitely things that have changed for us (humans) throughout our evolution. If you notice how we are a more tolerate society, we are more inclusive now than we were in years past. We have become less rugged then we were just 100 years ago due to advances in technology but we have grown smarter. We seem to loss some attributes but gain others. We have a bible that presented a deity that didn't speak against slavery and misogyny but we have to a degree gotten away from this mindset but we still have a ways to go on those matters and some others. The deity of the bible seemed to be just as primitive as the men that wrote the words. I believe that if we were in charge of writing the bible today it would be totally different. Sorry if I veered off subject a bit. I look forward to hearing back from you! 🙂
@@kelvinhooks9399 Thanks for a thorough answer; so then is it fair of me (and if not, please correct me), to understand that since you are saying ethics/morality have evolved over time, there are not universally true and applicable morals for all people at all time? (and then I promise I'll share what I'd say in response to that, as well as reply to some of your other points and observations).
Abortions are caused by unwanted pregnancies. Unwanted pregnancies are caused by lack proper birth control or contraceptives. christians are what causes the lack of better contraceptives and holds back the birth control industries from inventing better more efficient birth control. Your churches use abortion as another crusade so as to keep taking your money!
Thank you for taking the time to watch, and share your opinion. Since it seems you're interested in engaging in this conversation with us, we'd be more than willing to engage with your comments and opinions (some of which we're admittedly a little confused by) if you'd like to participate in a dialogue?
God is Pro Choice. There is an abortion recipe in Numbers 5. There is no such thing as life at conception, life begins at breath.
Thank you for taking the time to watch, and share your opinion. Since it seems you're interested in engaging in this conversation with us, we'd love to share why the passage in Numbers 5 isn't actually an abortion recipe (a very common argument that ignores Biblical context and proper study). We also think the Bible is clear that life does begin at conception and would be more than happy to direct you to those passages if you're interested in a dialogue?
Walker....there were a lot of snakes back then 😂
I can prep you on how to talk about abortion even faster than that: "Mind your own business."
Thank you for taking the time to watch, and share your opinion. Since it seems you're interested in engaging in this conversation with us, we'd love to share why we believe this is a conversation not to ignore if you're willing to listen.
That's what my ancestors said to the northern abolitionists about the "choice" issue of the 19th century. So do you agree with them that whether or not someone in 1850 Tennessee chose to own slaves was no one else's business?

Who hardened pharaohs heart ? Hope to be there for that.
Pharoah was all set to let the Hebrews go. It was god that "hardened his heart." Of course, none of this actually happened and we know that because Egypt, as the hub of the world in that day, had enemies and none of those enemies has written a single word about either Egypt detonating or their conquest of the ruined Egyptian territories. With an army supposedly in the bottom of the Red Sea Egypt would have been vulnerable - well, whatever was left of Egypt, and yet, we have continuous dynastic records. It's almost like there never was a Moses and some small smell herders sitting around the fire in the wasteland of the Negev inflated their own egos by telling how they trounced the bully.
Thank you for taking the time to engage with our channel. It seems you have fairly strong feelings about the reliability of the Bible, but if you're willing to consider other perspectives, we'd encourage you to watch this message where we examine the Bible using 3 standard tests for evaluating the historical authenticity and reliability of a document to see if it holds up (ua-cam.com/video/oT9DmYVoAtM/v-deo.html). Either way, thanks again for engaging!
Interesting conversation. I'm a little sad you only got thirteen views on your video, but it's been a noteworthy video.
If you’re “sorry” and it’s genuine, in the respect of harboring resentment toward someone for instance, but the person who you might have that issue with doesn’t even know you’ve had an issue to begin with, and it’s confronted with that person-do we not risk the chance of creating a stumbling block for that person? 1 Cor. 8:9 Speaking of “freeing” ourself from grief or guilt but causing it to maybe be a stumbling block for the other person? Idk just a thought that came to mind:)
That's a very legitimate question. In personal experience, I've prayed about it to see if I need to talk to the person, or like you said, not stir up past trouble. I'm not sure if 1 Corinthians 8:9 speaks to this, since that's more about legalism/moral rights. But perhaps the principle applies? Either way, it's a weighty question. I think it also reinforces the value of going to someone when you have an issue and allowing it to be addressed personally and timely. Good question!
Here's a better question what Bible are you using? Because if you don't admit to the fact the King James is adulterated and changed to fit a human want of control over others then you're blind and not being true to your religious beliefs.
Thanks for engaging with our channel. Our leadership tends to use the ESV, CSB, NIV84, or NASB translations.
I read all of them from 6-12

Hi, I’m James
Hi James. Good to see your face brother!
with respect, you can't continue to know the truth and partake of the sun-day worship. It is not a matter of choice. The 7th day is holy. it was never a matter of choosing your own day.
Hi Mike - thanks for stopping by our channel. We appreciate that you've taken time to consider this and form an opinion. As you've noticed, we disagree, but we're always interested in a conversation! If you were leaving this comment to have a longer dialogue and hear why we don't think worship is restricted to Saturday, feel free to send a message to pastors@discovercommunity.org; if you were just leaving the comment to be heard, thanks again for watching!
@@CBCMansfield brother, with respect, email is fine. but since this video is in a public format, I would like to continue with a question here. In the video, you say more than once that people can choose their sabbath. Can you provide Scripture that says the day is optional? I'd like to see it.
@@disciplemike1 Great question Mike; we just want to clarify word choice. When you say optional, do you mean people can choose whether or not they observe Sabbath, or do you mean optional in the sense that some people choose to rest on Saturday vs Sunday? (We're pretty sure we know which one you mean but always want to be certain)
@@CBCMansfield yes sir, i was asking for a Scripture reference that allows a choice of what day a person observes the Sabbath, other than the 7th day, Saturday.
Ok great, thanks for confirming. We never want to operate on assumptions. So to recap: Your thesis is "[we] can't continue to know the truth" because we worship on Sundays. Our thesis is obviously the opposite, hence this conversation. You've asked us for Biblical justification for our position. We'll explain our reasoning below, with Scripture references in parentheses. When we examine the Bible holistically we see that God emphasizes His concern with our hearts over external superficialities (1 Samuel 16:17; Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 6:1-18; 15:7-9; 19:16-22; 23:1-36; John 7:22-24 to name a few such passages). During Jesus' ministry, He addressed the issue as it specifically related to the Sabbath on multiple occasions (Matthew 12:1-4; Mark 2:23-27; John 4:20-24). The early church had to also address the issue of being careful to not impose unnecessary emphases/restrictions on believers (Acts 15:1-11; Galatians 2:11-14). Finally and anecdotally, we see that the early church on at least one occasion gathered on the first day of the week for an observance of ordinance and teaching (Acts 20:7). Therefore, we believe it is entirely possible to know the truth and worship God on Sundays. And for practical consideration: one of our pastors has had the blessing of traveling to several other countries where their calendar week starts on Monday, thus making Sunday the 7th day, which is when they gather to worship. Within our local ekklesia we have multiple people who work in jobs with rotating shifts (first responders, hospital workers, etc) where one week they may be scheduled on a Saturday but not the next week. What are they to do if only Saturday worship is true? Thanks again for engaging and being willing to ask for our rationale.

It's not just about giving, whatever it is we are giving to God. It is giving sacrificially with a heart that is happy to do so.
This is so true and such a good point! Our giving, whatever that may be particularly, must come from that place-sacrificial and joyful willingness. Thank you for sharing!
This is so profound. Thank you. Look forward to these every week.
I also think that although Rahab was a known prostitute, it was more about her faith paired with her works that most impressed God. Obviously, He uses everyone and anyone if we are willing and trust Him. What you mentioned about the scarlet cord & the cleansing blood of Christ...it's pretty cool how she marked her house (with forgiveness) represented by that scarlet cord & its protection...She and her whole household. Foreshadowing of Acts?? Acts 16:31 International Version They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.”
I always thought of scarlet chord like scarlet letter...with regard to Rahab.
Saving scarlet blood of Christ
Fun fact: When I was a kid, I wanted to name my future daughter Rahab. Mom said...probably not a good idea. Instead we named our daughter Jarica. (Often called Jericho 😉)
Roots and fragments of words...my favorite thing to learn. It's like putting a puzzle together and seeing the complete picture at the end.
