Hi Steve. Thank you for loading this vintage film strip I found recently.. I have never seen in any publication or workshop manual, the tip for centering the geared steering rack to obtain accurate measurements each side of the rack. In a Lotus workshop manual (Lotus used the Herald/Spitfire/Vitesse front suspension and steering parts in many of their early road and racing cars), it notes to turn the steering wheel one way full lock, then the other to full lock, and then try and determine the centre position (Lotus used rack stops to limit the 'London Taxi' style of tight turning circle).. I had noted the small indentation in my geared rack, but the penny didn't drop to note that it was for the correct centre of the rack in the rack tube. It makes it so much easier to adjust the steering/front end alignment this way. I will make up a pin to fit. Cheers EW

Thanks! This cleared up my misunderstanding of setting the reverse top screw in the gear lever. The workshop manual has a different value for max clearance, and did not specify to select first or second iirc.

TR7 V8 was quicker in a straight line than that Chevette. See how it closed on it.

Back in 1979, I thought this was a daring overtake shown at 03:30 but since having got a licence and rallied myself, and bearing in mind that these are two 100% professional drivers, I'm inclined to think Per is actually letting Pentti past (which the rules say you should do!) with minimum loss of time for himself

It appears to be a special addition with after market wheels - and the wheels have 6 white spokes.

Wow! As fast as this car was/is I expected more of a radical setup. It looks almost like my little slow Herald.
