COMBAT JUJUTSU VICE AIR CHOKE BY JKD SIFU MIKE GOLDBERG

You would know!!! When I was homeschooling him he shyed away from taking Jeet Kune Do as his gym elective, but, now he's hungry and wants to learn. He sure picked it up a lot faster than I did!!!
Incidentally kicked my partner twice in the a@$. LOL
Ron, glad you're consistent!!!
To my eyes, anyone with 3 months of grappling training can escape this choke. You're in mount! Just turn your head sideways. If needed, lift your butt, press into the guy. You have to be completely incompetent to get chocked like this.
Please don't forget the JKD sliding leverage is NOT only a deflection, it's also a strike which definitely softens up your attacker and allows you to execute the vice air choke quickly and believe me it is quick and painful !!! The link below will illustrate the inside sliding leverage against a haymaker and of course it can also be executed while on the ground as well. Again Thank You so much for your valid response. ua-cam.com/users/shortssr_4OCUVRpY
would you not be able to get out by sliding your neck and twisting across the elbow while also pushing on their chest away from them?

Papa Mike, I’m surprised you’re hanging out in the freezer like that, when I was the frozen lead it was ungodly cold in that freezer, especially when the door closed and the fans would start to kick on! Former frozen lead, Kroger #492 Rochester Michigan
Well Frozen Lead this little old frozen food clerk might be a Native Texan, but, truth be told I was raised in upper state New York from 7 to 18 years of age, so, at least I was a little prepared for the chilling welcoming... Lol !!! But, you being in Rochester, Michigan, I'm sure you did well cause I know it can be FREEZING not only in the freezer, but, also, outside... Hee... Hee... We try to be light hearted, cause we're ALL over 60 years young, myself 70 plus, but, sometimes, you can INTERCEPT your attack and sometimes you can't, so, sometimes, you have to use a spike elbow then follow up with an incidental strike like a tiger claw which was taught to me by my old 5 Animal Style Sifu Charles A. If somebody held his hands high in front of him in certain way protecting mainly chin ,you know its JKD.Years back seen photo were Bruce Lee strike pose helding hands this way.He is standing still, but you get impression he is moving. He seems so relax, comfortable. You just dont doubt his credentials by just the way he carries himself. Never since see anybody else being so comfortable in basic "fencer" stance, hands up
Generally, we start out in a "Non-Aggressive" body pose when confronted with a possible confrontation because maybe we can handle the situation in a peaceful manner through as my Sifu Tim Tackett would say "verbal jujitsu". But, this is a NEW drill for us old farts because I wanted challenge us to create a "spontaneous" reaction which can't be done in "static" drill. I'l be posting another reactionary response drill which will include defending against an attempted bear hug, haymakers, and tackle. Hope you'll like it and please feel free to give me any feedback you may have, your opinion helps us to strive to become better, especially, as we are in our 60's and above and have issues like bad backs, hips, knees, and sight. Luckily, I'm still able to move a little better than others my age. ( 70 and still feeling frisky!!! Lol !!! ) Have a great day!!!

That looks like it could work if your attacker is fairly slow/careless.
It's a great tool against a frontal bear hug which I demonstrate in a previous video where I insert my thumb into the armpit of my attacker where the carotid is located which is a fatal stab area. It's NOT a finishing blow as mentioned in the description element. Appreciate your input.
I somehow had not seen The Presidio, though I had seen Rising Sun ( you have seen that movie in which there is a scene where he uses what looks like a thumb poke to the throat of a security guard ( they don't show his thumb, only the guard wheezing after a quick move by Sean ). I will have to try this technique, as self defense skills are becoming more and more important in today's crazy world. Just watched The Presidio scene. I like how at the end when they are walking out the door the other guy says to Sean, "About your daughter - my intentions are strictly honorable" a nod to Sean's line to Ursula Andress in Dr. No.
Thumb poke in the throat is definitely effective. It was a GREAT scene for SURE!!! But, when you watch "The Presidio" you'll see at least 12 stunt people were involved in that one scene!!! You can also take a look at Gary Dillman's pressure point view or any other practitioner that does. The poke though NOT meant to be a FINISHING move it sure an great opener in close quarters.
Ok bruce
Definitely NOT Bruce, but, the poke definitely will wake up your attacker for sure.
That's not a kote gaeishi lock. It's a half-executed nikkyo hold. In jkd it would make more sense to hit the eyes, groin or knee then do multiple steps hitting non vulnerable targets since jkd is what Bruce described as "efficient street fighting with everything goes."
Thank you for the correction on the Aikido hold, always willing to learn. But, since the hold is NOT "life-threatening", you have to restrain your actions in order NOT to go to court or worse yet JAIL!!! Each situation is different, if an attacker were to try to strike or kick me, you'd be justified to act in a JKD manner as you're correctly advised. Appreciate your insight. Really!!! I live in Keller, Texas and fellow martial artists are always welcomed.
@@papamike3627 most fights on the street the other guy is not gonna follow rules or honor especially you don’t know what their intentions like if they have a knife, better safe then sorry. In legal terms you have the right to defend yourself especially if they grab/assault first.
@@SuperMaryu767 Good advice, but, in reality, I wouldn't even let some one get that close, it was just a mental drill with my best friend who studied Aikido. Sort of a physics problem. LOVE to analyze things... Again, thank you so much for your input.
Who taught and certified you in JKD?
My very first exposure to JKD was at Sifu Dan Inosanto and Chris Kent's seminar at Manuel Taningco's School back in 1980. Since I could speak basic Tagalog Sifu Inosanto and I hit it off and he told me to invite both Larry Hartsell and Tim Tackett to Fort Worth and ever since, I had the pleasure of training under Tim Tackett and the Late JKD Icon Bob Bremer. I was certified by James Sewell, Bob Bremer, and of course Tim Tackett. I've had the pleasure of working out with other JKD instructors as well. I feel very blessed being over 70 years young that I can still do what I can and I'm VERY grateful !!! I, even had the pleasure of training at JKD Legend Taky Kimura's school and Sifu Kimura took me and my son on a tour of Sigong Bruce Lee's and Brandon Lee's burial sites along with ALL the various hangouts that he and Bruce had experienced together. I, also, had the pleasure of JKD Sifu Ted Wong's Seminars when he visited Irving, Texas. I, also, met other JKD Icons as well. They ALL were very approachable and even Linda Lee Cadwell wrote me and my son several times as did the Late James Lee did. I, also, had the extreme honor and pleasure of training under Supremo Tuhon Leo T. Gaje & Tuhon Bill McGrath, and others in PTK ( Petiki Tirsia Kali ) which was REALLY an "eye opener" in regards to weaponry training, but, did not get certified to teach. My old JKD student, fellow Veteran, and very good friend Tuhon Tim Waid is now spreading the light when it comes to weaponry training. I hope this answers your question. Sorry for being LONG winded. Hope this answers your question.
It's ok if the sole purpose is fitness. Saying as an ex wing chun practitioner. Absolutely no applicability to real fighting otherwise.
I totally respect Wing Chun and welcome you to my home in Keller, Texas to experience how applicable this is for instilling tactile realistic street confrontations. I have students NO joke in several military and law enforcement agencies that have thought that this drill did instilled in them an instinctive tactile sense of response to their adversary's movement. Best to you and yours, really.
Y'all would get rocked by an mma fighter.
It's just a drill dude chill
@@papamike3627 keep doing what you're doing, I'm an mma fighter and these drills are super cool for developing many things, these haters dislike attribute building drills but are okay with boxers on a speed bag 🤣
I have the HIGHEST respect for MMA fighters. But, this is a very BASIC drill which develops instinctive tactile responsives. It is a prelude to learn how to apply trapping whenever, some one blocks your initial blow. But, NOT everyone blocks. We like MMA fighters, counter punch and kick as the program proceeds and use JKD's inside and outside sliding leverage which is a blow that diverts a strike at the SAME TIME as the strike proceeds to it's target. You are ALWAYS welcomed to my home here in Keller, Texas, where we BOTH can exchange knowledge and perhaps create a friendship. I'm over 70, but, I am ALWAYS willing to LEARN and make new friends.
