2010 Volvo S80 3.2L PCV Valve Replacement DIY - Fix that Squealing Noise!
Volvo S80 - Fix the annoying high pitch tea kettle sounding squealing noise coming from the back of the engine on your Volvo. This was done on a 2010 Volvo S80 3.2 liter, but many other Volvo’s have the same style PCV valve. This was a 15 minute fix and cost $25.

In late July 2013, we found a bunny nest in our yard with 5 baby bunnies. When the bunnies were only 7 days old, we found the mother about 25 yards from the nest, she was killed by a predator. We put hay over the nest to make sure the dead bunny was the mother to see if she would come back, but after two days the hay was not moved. We knew we had to act quickly to save the baby bunnies who no l...
Thank you for this.
Terrible placement. But then again they need to squeeze everything in there. Thanks for the video.👍🏼
Just did my 2010 XC60 T6 3.0l R design. same issue but I changed out the whole box to the tune of 377🇨🇦 plus tax 🤨. Volvo said they don’t sell just the diaphragm so they’re no help there, only the full unit. If I keep the car long enough, I’m pushing 250k kilometres / 160k miles, I’ll opt for this method. Seems to work for many folks, just the odd complaint. Good thing I did however because the box that was on there wasn’t even properly secured. Third of bolts were not secure in their holes and others came off by hand, so whoever did it previously, left it for me to deal with y’a know..🤨. Good video Skiz 😎
Thanks for your post , the PCV finally came in and I installed it in 1/2 hr . I used a small chisel to cut the plastic on the old valve and a small rocking pry bar to remove it . Had slight difficulty in getting the new one to engage the slots but finally got it seated after some perseverance. Thanks again for your video it was very helpful.
Glad it helped. No better feeling than fixing it yourself and saving $$$
The clips are on the side facing the engine or did I miss something? If any of them would be on the other side getting them off would be close to impossible without removing the whole oil filter housing.
The clips that you are breaking off are on the filter itself. Yes there are a couple clips on the side facing the engine, but once you break a couple that are facing you, you can just pull the old filter right off from the front. The back clips will just kind of pry off. It took me 3 minutes to take off.
Thank you I thought it was the water pump on my wife’s 2008 XC 90 but after watching this I’m quite certain it’s the PVC valve .
Let me know man, super easy fix to an annoying problem!
Worked great, thanks for posting
Glad it helped
You’ll either have to pay the shop to replace it or if you have a jack and tools and comfortable going car work, removing and replacing the control arm isn’t too difficult.
so what do i do if i got this 😭😭 06 gs300 Rwd
Thank you for mentioning the positioning of the cap before you press on. I forgot to make note of it and had a hard time pushing it back on until i saw that mentioned on your video.
Hey Skiz, looks like we've got ourselves twin cars.. My S80 makes an awful noise after about 15 min of driving, stops under acceleration and returns when letting off the gas.. As I understand the engine causes a vacuum pulling the diaphragm closed.. I would be interested to know if replacing the valve solved this issue for you as a $25-30 sure beats having to take my volvo into a shop..
Hey, this 100% fixed the issue. We haven’t heard the loud pitch squeal since I replaced it. I would absolutely suggest trying this very easy fix before bringing to a mechanic if you are comfortable doing it. It really is pretty easy and saved me hundreds!
Really thanks
Thank you for sharing. I am a huge bunny nerd and noticed the hole was deeper than I thought since what I know is cottontails dig up roughly 4-6 inches when building their nests and cover up fur. Another odd thing was that the nest seemed to be built on hard soil...instead of grassy areas. Which region was this video taken? And what type of cottontails are they? They seem bit different to the Eastern cottontails i see almost every day here in the midwest.
Bryan Lim that area you are looking at is what I temporarily built for them. I dug the hole for them to hide in and I put chicken wire fence around the area. I did this a few days before releasing them to get them acclaimed to being outside. Their original nest was not very deep at all. They basically escaped out of here within 2 days which I was ok with because I felt like they were ready to go at that point. This was in New England.
😀😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Aww
Good job mate

Awww, i would love to take care of wild cotton tail rabbits. lol so cute when the little one ran and tumbled down back into the nest hole. lol XD poor little guy.
There was a dead female adult rabbit in the corner of my backyard. I showed a picture to the vet and they agreed it was probably the mom. Also I put some strings over the nest in a certain pattern and after two days it was exactly the same which indicates the mother wasn't coming to the nest.
skiz888 the mom leaves for days, to weeks at a time
Mariah Dunn Not true, ask yourself- what would the kids eat if the mother was gone for a week? They need a nourishment at least daily!
Mariah Dunn - No, the mother doesn't. She is supposed to return 1 to 2 times per day to feed the babies.
@@mariahdunn8450 thats not true the babies would starve ,were the hell did u get ur info
How do you know that the momma rabbit was killed also it the momma rabbit might of been protecting the best from predators and also if you see a nest full of baby rabbits you should leave them alone, those baby's are still drinking moms milk and not lettuce. That is just things that might of happend
He said he found a dead female rabbit in the corner of his yard
My pit bull just attacked one and he was trying to play with it but I had to take it from him and now I have it in my house with me
Chris Dags Did it die?
