Warne Marsh Live In San Francisco 1987 - conclusion
Thank you for this upload!
I cannot believe the amount of people who didn't watch the 3rd part! Might as well walk out of a concert..
I saw him perform about the same time in Oakland. I was able to talk after the show. My first guitar teacher used to take theory lessons from him and my sister Betsa used to babysit his kids. Back 70s Pasadena. Also saw him quite a few times with SuperSax.
Yes. I believe that was the day after at Mills College. It was a tenor / guitar duo. I was there as well. No video, but there is a nice audio circulating.
His sax tone is big and resonant here, and he's adventurous, extroverted.
good god thos 80's mullet hair styles at. the end.....brings back bad memories.
He's amazing (and the band are not slouch either). Seriously one of the greatest improvisors of all time. An inspiration.
Guitar player??
Larry Koonse. He mentions all the players later in the concert, which unfortunately, is divided into parts.
Larry sounds GREAT...Warne too.....
@@joshuabreakstone9067 maybe its just the recording but I think the guitar is all too often covering up Warne's subtleties.
One of the great improvisers. And SWINGIN' his ass off here...
grazie grazie meraviglioso arpeggio su Is your or no one min 3:55 start genius
He gently starts the performance with "You Or No One", as in many of his records. GENIUS.
Wonderful! Thanks!
thank you so much!!
Unbelievable, thanks for putting this up!
Thanks a lot Bill!!!
Everybody is articulated, no need of studio effect... let the river flows!
Wonderful Warne! Endless inspiration...
Thank you so much for making this available.
Tragic
He dies that year. But he looks fine in the video.
3:03 Warne played 317 E. 32nd the best; I've heard piles of interpretations after him and the 'modern' interpretations are played in a slow and sleepy sort of way. But Warne was powerful and swingin.
You're right about Warne & "317;" my definitive version of "317" is on his "All Music" album with Lou Levy (p), Fred Atwood (b), and Jake Hanna (d)
@@nedbates really love the version with Lennie T and Lee live at the Halfnote....if you dont have it its on the Tube
@@nedbates but that IS a swingin album, was just listening to it yesterday...
Whoa this is a national treasure! Thanks; I have rare Warne bootlegs but not videos! wow
Thanks. I'm glad you found it. Do you know the concert is broken into 5 parts? I've labeled the others Pt 2 -3 -4 and conclusion.
For details on the performance and links to the other parts, see the following link www.warnemarsh.info/news.htm
Hello, What bootlegs of Warne do you have? I have me too a lot of his unreleased recordings.
