From where? I wanna get them too!
@@TankItEasySG I bought from C328 first shop. No more already. That Aquarium at Khatib still have a few..but i bought most of the better ones already. $1.20 per fish..it is just labelled as Wild Betta in a tub. $10 for 10. This guy has almost full coloured up now... More colourful and beautiful than in this video.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 Thanks for the info! I'll keep a lookout then. I bought 10 pieces from Bubbles Yishun labelled as "Wild Betta" too. Probably Imbellis but I think all females.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 Any male to trade? :) would love to breed them
@@TankItEasySG Bro, hmm.. i don't think i got enough males at the moment. Unfortunately i lost a few good males due to their high jumping ability. I underestimated how high they can jump. Ehmm.. have you tried adding katapang? Could be some females may be male... Those wild dun seems to color up often.

nice betta 😮
they are sold very cheaply (SGD 2) as juveniles of unidentified wild bettas
Hi! Great information! Any idea if they still sell them at that price? :)
No more already.
Hello, are you selling the ones you bred? Kind of interested in your line bred "imbellis"
Hi Randall, my linebred is left only with fishes that are over their prime. The fifth gens are already 3 + years old. The current last gen is also over the prime. So sorry about that. But C328 may still have these wild caught Betta Imbellis.. Is the aunty's shop.
Beautiful results 👍👍🤝
Thanks Abang.
love them
Thank you :)
To release this ray into the nature is not the right thing to do cause it will extinct other local species. I hope people who keep pet should be more responsible and knowledgeable. Foreign species will extinct the local species, so it is not right to release them into the nature. The same disaster happened to US when the foreign snakehead were abandoned into the nature and eaten up most of the local cichlid species. And the same thing is also happening to our local drain system when the taliapia fish (from Japan) were released and wiped out most of the fishes.
Yah... fully agree. Thanks for the sharing.
The last one is the striped panchax, I believe someone else must had released this species at that location (better don't reveal the location in order to preserve their nature habitant, thanks). I got 1 pair of Firemouth panchax from an aquarium shop recently and hopefully I can get some eggs hatched. Thks for sharing.
Thanks for the info on the panchax. Sure... will keep this place a secret... very few people come here. This place has common snakehead and 3-spot gourami also. Other part of this place is very nice.. but I don't post here to the public. Hope your panchax breed soon.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 I am so glad to inform you that my firemouth panchax had many fries now, it is definitely a happy day for me! And I also managed to crossbreed two difference panchax. Hooray!
@@PIPERON Wow... nice. Congrats. Are you going to share the result on your video channel. I am very curious about how the hybrid panchax will look like. I think some of the panchax in this stream may be hybrids.. because in certain part of this tributary.. i saw our local Whitespot panchax and some parts these striped panchax. and some of the fishes i cannot tell if which species they are.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 Sorry, due to the hatred from some online hobbyists who reject the idea of crossbreed, I will keep the new species for my own amusement only. The last time I bought out the idea of crossbreeding, I got bombarded so badly and I left the Killies fish group. I don't want to cause another stir on the online community again. Once bitten twice shy. Thanks!
@@PIPERON OK noted. I am just surprised that killifish can easily hybridise.
Where is this place? I know it is at Sungei Buloh but need the exact location to film the fishes. Thks! There are lots of them at Pulau Ubin too.
Wow... you are in Singapore . I thought you are in China 😁. This one is not at Sungei Buloh.. it is somewhere else in the north as well. Abit hard to find. For the Sungei Buloh one, it is the pond near the main entrance (to Sungei Buloh) when you take Bus 925 and drop at the Kranji /japanese ww2 battle zone.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 Thanks for your reply and direction, greatly appreciated. And thank you for sharing your exotic collection of the Betta series.

Yes... but for me .. not all bettas are cured. Some will be cured.. other will still die
By 6th generation is this when you breed siblings together over and over again or when you breed father x daughter or mother x son? Where the parents of this 6th generation a fish you bred x another fish from a different spawn?
I do not think that inbreeding is moral or ethical. So, my fishes were alway mated with unrelated or only distantly related mates.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 I wished more breeders did the same, I wished they exchanged different fry spawns with other breeders to improve their genetic diversity(which you aren’t short of, judging by your superb breeding ethics), didn’t sell their pairs from same brood spawns, or breed siblings which seems to be a common malpractice in the wild betta community in Facebook groups.
They still look a lot like imbellis? Why is that? Is the domestic genes really unstable?
The domestic genes (of my fishes) already have much Imbellis heritage. The rest, are mostly Betta Splendens (wild type) which are already very similar to Imbellis. BTW, my opinion is that most of the so-called Imbellis on sales especially in the West are hybrids. The pure wild imbellis (from those that I have) are very dull and drab. They will only colour up briefly and their colours are never really very intense.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 I see the market here seems to be muddied up by negligent breeders. I also thought you mixed domestic splendens(when I think of splendens I immediately jump to domestic splendens with all the mutations), so my bad. That explains a lot now.
Hi guys please watch my betta caring tips. Your betta fish will live longgg. And you can keep your fish for many years ua-cam.com/video/9NMgguHpTco/v-deo.html

Yes... i think so too... feral betta splendens
The splendens is a plakat?
Yup... plakat ancestry
Nice fish 👍
Thank you
what are you calling mean hybrid?
They have Betta splendens and domestic betta as their ancestors.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 are these hybrids being re-released in the wild or have they always been in a whild. Is there concern that they will cross with originals in the wild?
@@monicafelan531 Hello...They are my own fishes. Kept only within my tanks. My hybridisation was accidental because the fish shop mislabelled Betta Splendens as Imbellis. I doubt they were hybrids when I bought them. Hope that clears your unwarranted concern.. Now that I have pure wild imbellis, the difference between Imbellis and Splendens are so obvious in terms of behaviour and colouration, it is impossible to make that mistake anymore. Now I do not breed the hybrids anymore. I am only breeding the pure lines. The beloved hybrids will stay with me until they passed away from old age. The older generations have passed on.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 I really don't have a huge concern, because I maintain a few of the wild species as well and the domestic that splendons. I see a lot of videos where people turn loose domestic splendens and then go and recapture them pretending to catch these fish in the wild that's more concerning in that it's just more of a waste of time and make pollute the wild bloodlines I'm sure you're fine, the reason I asked is I bought some embellish supposedly wild type but they look to me like they have some splendens in them , not sure. If they were truly caught in the wild I wouldn't want to be buying hybrids wild hybrids.
@@monicafelan531 I see... sorry to hear about that. From the videos that I see on youtube, it seems most of the so-call Betta Imbellis that are sold in the West are actually hybrids... which is kind of sad. The problem is, as you have experienced, the pure bloodlines maybe very hard to find in your region/local supply. Here where I stay, wild Imbellis are natives to our regions. In fact the Wilds are much cheaper than the properly labelled 'Betta Imbellis'. They are simply label as 'Wild Betta'... with no exact identification. So I have to buy them back and observe them for a few days before proper identification can be established. The true Imbellis are pretty drab and they don't really colour up much. Here is a video of my recent spawn of pure wild imbellis ua-cam.com/video/7qexsvUTp7g/v-deo.html Cheers.

Thank you.
Would love to breed them too😊
Haha.. they are quite easy to breed. But to be honest, they are not as colourful as domesticated or commercially bred Betta Imbellis. Most of the time, they are drab and hiding somewhere.
Their fries have grown up. Here is a video of one of them ua-cam.com/video/7qexsvUTp7g/v-deo.html

Thank you. He has passed on ... He lived for about 2.5 years.
👍👍👍👍👍
what age was he?
About 3 month old when i took this video
This is amazing. I couldn't understand why some people are making hybrids that could potentially destroy the pure wild species if mislabeled.
Thank you. The offsprings from this spawning have grown up. I have given a pair (one male and one female) to a friend of mine. He has wild imbellis ( and offsprings) from Malaysia Langkawi. By outbreeding, we hope to keep the genetics strong and healthy. Hopefully, we can keep the stock pure for as long as possible😁 One observation I notice is that wild imbellis are indeed harder to keep than domestics. They do not do well with ketapang leaves. I use banana leave instead. And tubifex worms are bad for them and they do not eat them, especially the adults.
@@southeastasianaquatics230 I salute your efforts, Sir. These species are very special and since there a few of them in the wild ,due to habitat loss, you can keep their population going with your breeding.
