In years past, if a patient were severely burned, and required treatment in a burn unit, this is the type of tank that was used. A patient would be lowered into the Hubbard Tank via the means of a Hydraulic Lift, and the scrubbing, AKA the Debridement would be performed. This was done in the "Tank Room." And it was a horrific process. Patients would scream in agony, and beg the staff to stop. Some Patients were known to beg for their life to end, as it was such a brutal procedure. Patients underwent the Hubbard Tank process once a day at least, and in some units, twice a day.. It was soon discovered that putting a burn patient into a Hubbard Tank created a Bacteria Soup, and so a shower method was used. A patient would be wheeled underneath the shower via the means of a water proof stretcher, and hoses were suspended fron the ceiling, and that's how debridement was performed. It was still painful, and patients still cried out in agony, but when a patient has been burned severely, this is a necessary procedure that MUST be performed. I myself have seen a Hubbard Tank. I did not get in it, but I saw it, and placed my hand underneath the water to feel the current from the turbine. While you no longer see Hubbard Tanks in the Burn Unit, I find this method of hydrotherapy very very interesting!

THIS IS THE FIRST UA-cam video where the Hubbard Tank is actually discussed. All the Hubbard tank videos I have found are in spanish or some other language. There are demonstrations of the Hubbard Tank, but they are not english videos. I wish UA-cam had english videos where the Hubbard Tank was demonstrated. I understand fully that this is a VERY old tank, but STILL! It'd be nice if there were videos instructing, and demonstrating it's use in ENGLISH! But that is NONEXISTANT ON UA-cam!
