      Not these. The newer ones you can adjust the temp, but not sure that they are dimmable.

    I sold a car that was programmed for my garage door. How do I change the garage door opener code for a Hormann Silent Drive 5500 series? Do I go through the reset steps and then reprogram the remotes that I have and cars? Thanks

    So, today is literally their first anniversary since the install, how are they performing so far? Any input? Any Prons or cons?

      Hi macrapidito! Wow after a year, here's what I can say. Overall, the lights performed pretty well. I did have one light where the driver went out on it. I contacted the site where I purchased the lights and they sent me a replacement. That was nice, but it costed me an electrician service call. Overall, the lights are awesome, they provide a good amount of light. I went with the 3000k, so the light still maintains some warmth to it.

    If put into an attic do you need to use a heat baffle? How hot do they get?

    • @macrapidito1

      They are IC rated which means they can be in direct contact with the insulation with no problem.

    Wise decision buying the approved brand name model, yes they are all made in china buy the ones on ebay and amazon do not meet any safety certification, and the power supply/driver that is sold with them is extremely cheap and questionable. Buying these in store you an see the included power supply is much more reliable and well built, and comes in an approved metal enclosure.

    What gauge wire did you use?

    • @diydad3999
      @diydad3999 6 років тому

      I had it wired by an electrician, he used Romex, I believe 14-2. If you wire yourself, I would suggest checking with the boxed directions.

      Lighting is usually on 14ga wire. I installed recessed lights with similar clear/orange connectors and use a heavier 12ga wire with no issue. Lights are usually on a 15A circuit, which calls for a 14ga wire or better.

    Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful. I'm getting these but am unclear on how many I need. Amazon says: Wafer 6 inch: One unit is needed for about every 2.5sq feet in an 8 ft ceiling room 3 units for a room ranging 6sq ft - 9 sq ft 4 units for a room ranging 10sq ft - 12 sq ft 6 units for a room ranging 12sq ft - 15 sq ft 9 units for a room ranging 15sq ft - 19 sq ft I have a 13'x24'room or 312 sq ft ceiling. Which is 9ft high. Any recommendation?

    12 x 18 room and you think you went over board??? ......No way! You kicked ass and took names. I think it looks great! I'm going to be ordering tonight I hope. If I was a shadow, I wouldn't be able to hide in that room of yours. :)

    What do you think of the lights so far?

    • @diydad3999
      @diydad3999 7 років тому

      Joeak74 yeah! Really like them they provide a good amount of light and were easy for my electrician to install. It was a little difficult to cut a hole in the ceiling tiles as they wanted to fall apart.

      Do you recommend the 3000K like you have, or the 4000K? I really hate yellow colored lighting. I was leaning toward the 4000K Yours looks great, but cameras tend to tell a different story compared to the eyes. What do you think?

    • @Joeak74
      @Joeak74 7 років тому

      The 4000K is a "bright white", or "cool white". I've never seen any blue in that color range, however... the 5500K is definitely blue, and weird looking.

    • @diydad3999
      @diydad3999 7 років тому

      We chose 3000k because my wife felt the 4000k might be too bright/blue/industrial. I was hesitant at first but I really like the 3000k

    • @Joeak74
      @Joeak74 7 років тому

      I guess I'll have to order one of each and experiment to see which one I like best. I'm hoping the 4000K does have that "blue" I don't care for. What do you think? Have you seen both of them side by side? Thanks in advance for your help.
