We are checking the suspension travel, to see how geometry and angles change, through its range of movement. This test showed, the top arm actually wants to rotate, when centre adjusting section is loosened, to let it travel unrestricted through its natural range of moment. It moves in an arc, and not straight, as we had thought as designed from factory. So we are designing top arms to rotate i...

    If you weighed all of the stock parts and reverse engineered it to find what bobweight it balances with, it's not a 50% balance factor, you're in for a shock. It's only 50% for 90 degree blocks.

  • @bobawatsit
    @bobawatsit 2 роки тому

    Ah, I see it is a V engine, then use bob weights, but you set TDC on No1 throw by EYE ?? then go and set your bob weight with a level F.... Me

    what is the rational of using bob weights on an in plane crank of any number of cylinders, if the weights of the reciprocating/piston weights are identical

    If I have a good running engine with a factory internal balanced forged steel crank,( it's a 440 mopar) and want to put pistons in for better compression, can I just make all the pistons rods pins weights exactly the same and get a quality engine ? (I won't hold you accountable if something goes wrong lol)

    The tile should read "I Put Myself In The Dirt Becuase Of My Poor Judgement"The Datsun was on the racing line running from the turn 2 exit to the other side of the track. Your responsibility as the overtaking driver is to pass safely. The Datsun didn't change its line. You just don't know what ur doing. Neither do the others who want to blame the Datsun. It's clear that room was starting to open up on the left of the Datsun. You need to change the title of the clip.

    • @UniqueZed

      I was certain he was aware I was there as I came up behind him pretty fast at the end of the straight and did not overtake until turn three. It appeared to me that he was making room for me. Obviously not. He was not really on the race line, but must have decided to merge to the right to set up for the next left bend. His right hand mirror was not real good, which I noticed, so...............

    • @brianmalik9383
      @brianmalik9383 6 років тому

      you were obviously much faster. doesn't make any difference tho. he was on the racing line. the southern loop is to most people a double apex and you were exactly on the same line as him from the start of the video. he took a fairly late apex on the exit but from that point, he continued to move from the left to the right which is the racing line out of there. how can a car moving from left to right appear that they are making room for you on the right? thats ridiculous. if he saw you, he still did the right thing by holding his line so the overtaking car could predict where he was going. it doesn't matter if his side mirror was any good or not. in fact if it was ineffective and he only saw you in his main mirror, he just held his line because thats also what u do if you dont know where the guy behind you is. you cocked up and you were dangerous. it looks like youve never driven there before if you say that he was not on the racing line because thats where everyone goes. if you did that to me I would have gone to the stewards about you.

    Wow you guys are still out there. Not going to lie wish you were still repping the vg30dett that car was a monster! Oh well, is it faster with this setup I do understand the motor is lighter and breathes better but have heard they are kind of weak in comparison when boosted, meaning people blow the motors. Any feedback on that? Amazing car man I have been watching you for 10+ years.

    • @UniqueZed
      @UniqueZed 7 років тому

      Yes the VQ30 is not great. It uses 3 thermostats which are trouble, especially as they open at very high temps. We have modified the coolant passengers and run one colder thermostat on the coolant exiting the motor, we also use a Cosworth head gasket and ARP studs and a Supertech deck guard which we also had to match port to line up with some of the coolant passages. It is a VQ35 bottom end now also. with GT3071's.

    I've seen several cranks that broke thecounter weights bc they installed the Mallory the way you just said I 100%believe that installing it the same way the holes are drilled is 100000000x safer as long add its welded its not possible to just fly out like you mentioned the whole damn crank would fly apart first smdh that practice of side ways install is dangerous and if it's small amounts it's way better to remove material from the pistons which is the right way it just takes more time and skill so most shops have resorted to quick and easy instead of theRight correct and safe way

  • @PooManchoo2

    You say you do the crank on it's own and not with the front balancer or fly/flex, but that's assuming internally balanced, yes? What about external balanced where the balancer and fly/flex also have bobweights? I would expect that they'd need to be fitted and balanced as one assembly throughout the entire procedure. Good videos and insight, by the way. Thanks for posting.

    • @UniqueZed
      @UniqueZed 7 років тому

      You can balance altogether or neutrally balance the crank pulley, clutch and flywheel by themselves.

    • @PooManchoo2
      @PooManchoo2 7 років тому

      Thanks. So I dare say that with externally balanced is that you'd NEED to? ie: BBC 454

    • @s.v.gadder1443
      @s.v.gadder1443 7 років тому

      No!!!!! 4 cylinders aren't the same as v8s they have 2 cylinders knee direction and the other 2 180deg opposite so you balance the crank alone then weight match the pistons and rods and the rest is a neutral balance, v8s are not this way except the new 5.0 cyote engines ford made they are designed just like a 4 banger 4 pistons 180deg opposed by 4 more which allows you to balance the crank alone then balance the parts separate regular v8s have to have bob weights attached to simulate the weight of the pistons and rods regardless of. Whether or not it's neutral balanced

  • @douro20
    @douro20 8 років тому

    All aluminium-block engines should be honed under stress. Nissan both bores and hones blocks under stress. This allows the engine bore shape and alignment to be more precise after the installation of the cylinder head since the torque plate simulates this stress applied by the cylinder head.

    • @UniqueZed
      @UniqueZed 8 років тому

      The engine we honed is VQ35 DE for our race car, using forged pistons and rods, custom steam pipe manifolds and twin 3071 turbo's. We also tested a VG30DETT which are cast iron, with and with out a torque honing plate and the difference was up to one thou. For more info see our website www.uniqueautosports.com.au and go to our race car build in gallery section.

    Is your machines belt position considered a variable in measurement? It seems close to one side of the crank. (front side.) Would a belt positioned in the center of crank be more accurate? Or do the machine crank supports eliminate that variable?

    • @UniqueZed
      @UniqueZed 8 років тому

      It does not matter where the belt is positioned.

  • @UniqueZed
    @UniqueZed 8 років тому

    Not $1000. It cost about $400AUD for V6 balancing, difficult time consuming job. Many engine shops struggle to make money. Many can't survive and close. I am not an engine shop, just reporting what I experience and know.

    600whp for a stock bottom end and careful tuning ... unfortunately these engines have one small weakness and that is the fact that they have a lot of casting slag on the entry for the number 6 pistons water jacket resulting in detention and a melted piston on number 6 ... line boar and machine the water feeder and you have a block that will pull 700hp all day long
