My name is Alijah Barbosa, Owner of O-Town Inspections. I am a licensed home inspector who releases videos on home inspection related topics. Ways To Drain Water Away From Your House
in this video, I cover different ways to drain water away from your house by using downspout extensions, underground downspouts, and drains.
1.) Downspout extensions is an additional accessory to your gutter system that is installed at the end of the downspout. It is designed to allow rainwater or snowmelt to fall to a drain in the ground in a controlled manner, then divert it away from the foundation of your home.
2.) Underground downspouts are vertical pipes attached to the gutter of a house or building, which carry, lead, or redirect rainwater away from the building.
3.) An outdoor drain is a device installed to collect a large amount of stormwater. Rain falling on a hard surface, like your driveway or roof, needs somewhere to go. Many times, that place ends up being the nearest storm drain or or in an underground ditch.

What Is Counter Flashing?
Переглядів 51Місяць тому
Counter flashing is a technique used in roofing and construction to protect joints and seams from water infiltration. It involves installing a layer of flashing that overlaps the top of an underlying layer of flashing. Essentially, it redirects water away from the joint and helps to ensure that water does not seep behind the flashing and into the building structure. It's commonly used around ch...

Great video
@@ruenvedder5921 thank you 😊
What size is that?
@@prestonpc they sell them in different sizes. The one in this video is the 22ft ladder version
Not an attic called crawl space where I'm from
a crawlspace is located between the ground and first floor in a home or mobile home. This is not called a crawlspace it’s an attic because it’s located above the ceiling under the roof
Ugh
I know this is an ad But real talk this is the best ladder on the market. Haven't found another one that has the adjustment for the feet. Literally does almost anything but for that there is a weight penalty but no biggie. Maybe once every two years I find a tool that blows me away and this one is incredible
thank you for your feedback the little giant is the best i use it everyday on my inspections. This was not supposed to come off as an ad sorry if i did i was just trying to inform people on youtube about a product i think could save them money since this ladder is so versatile
@O-TownInspections oh ok, yeah, it really is. It also feels so much safer with the leg extension Compared to using a prop or having to dig. It really surprises me how I haven't ever seen a competitor do something similar. It s so clever and awesome, all round
Where is the insulation bob? Where is it?!
haha that’s true i’m just their to do an inspection but he definitely needed some insulation
?
Did you finish the job or not? I am asking because if you left it like that you were wrong and that will cause more water damage.
i didn’t install anything sir i’m just a home inspector
Does anyone else notice the shingles of the cricket are placed under the the existing roof shingles with no ridge cap shingle. There will a multi trade follow up call on this one. Nice try though
As a bricklayer with 46+years experience and countless chimneys built and repaired I can personally guarantee you that flashing is essential. Water infiltration plus the freezing in the winter will definitely cause a lot of damage. Between the flashing and the "cap" or "wash" on top of the chimney is where you'll find most all the damage. Trust Me.
i agree i’m glad you shared your expertise
Waste of money
how so?
Definitely not a waist of money😂
@hunterhering8060 you're right, I have no clue what a "waist" of money is...now a waste? Totally
@@O-TownInspectionsBecause it was wrong and you will cause water damage.
@@Bob-Bob1i’m confused because i’m just inspecting the roof i didn’t install anything
Or ya know. You could just use your eyes. I've never had an issue seeing if the roofer missed or not.
it’s not an issue at all. this is in regard to the wind mitigation form. we must identify what type of nails were used so we look for a protruding nail. that’s all we’re trying to show in this video.
Nathan is that you?
no nathan in this video :)
