Very interesting..
Hi Gary, I really enjoyed seeing the scarecrow variety. What artistic talent in Leesburg! For Halloween I remember enjoying sewing my children's costumes and I especially enjoyed doing counted cross stitch patterns on my and my daughter's clothes when she was young. Stay safe! I didn't know Leesburg has a record of the fewest hurricanes; maybe I need to move there from The Villages!
Hope ya'll fair well down there, my husband's parents are over in Mims. Did your people fair well okay up here in VA? I sent baby foods over with the donation truck from here in VA Beach.
Loved seeing all the vintage halloween patterns. Take care, and stay safe with all the nasty weather.
Is 50 older? If so, I am 50 and Halloween is a big deal to me and always has been. I have very fond memories of trick-or-treating and have recreating the venerable "Treat Table" of yore for trick-or-treaters, now. I also love harvest/autumn/thanksgiving stitching. If I want vintage/old school XS patterns eBay is king, most of the time.
@@nerdystitcher wonderful! You’re not old.
@@garysligh7020 Tell that to my knees, lol.
I don't know if it will work for you, but I sell my vintage charts on ebay.
@@ScenicCityStitcher I will check it out ❤️
What a fabulous opportunity, very exciting changes.
Magical
You have a Vision & the space to make a reality 😊 Blessings as you move forward 🙋♀️🇨🇦
Oh my gosh! That space is gorgeous! The rooms are. Bid . I love love the woodwork! Congrats! I can see why youre excited !
Congratulations on 1 year. Prayers for those impacted by the storm.
Gary! I am so excited for you that I don't even have words!! Not only is the house gorgeous, your visions for it are phenomenal! I hope every single one comes to fruition! Dave and I will be the ones who will request a tour soon so we can appreciate it before and then after. We were just talking about the tiny space you were in across the street when we first met you! What a spectacular change! Congratulations!! See you soon!
@@pamwoods7564 your support and enthusiasm mean a lot!
@@garysligh7020 I forgot to say Happy 1 year Anniversary! What an awesome way to celebrate. I am so grateful for all that you share in your videos.
What a lovely home for a shop. Congratulations!
It's just beautiful! Congratulations on this dream come to fruition! Next time I'm down FL from up here VA Beach I plan on coming by! -Barbara 🎉
Every home my hubby and I have ever bought have been around 100 yrs old. ..3 of them all total. We love the charm and workmanship in them. They have their own stories to tell :) your new place is a true beauty. Congrats on a great purchase!
Gorgeous building, Gary!
@@nerdystitcher thanks!
@@garysligh7020 you're welcome!
Hi Gary, Norway and Holland guess you are not stopping by Bilbso Spain, do you?
Wow, Gary! Thank you so very much for sharing your trip with us! I got to see places and things that I never will get to see in my lifetime and I truly appreciate the experience. The museum with the mental health content was certainly significant to me as a former mental health counselor. I am still chuckling over the emotional incontinence picture... :) Safe trip back to Leesburg and can't wait to see the new shop.
😁😁😁
Ha I was in Amsterdam 6 days ago! Today I am stitching a present with some Danish flower thread I got at De Afstop yarn shop.. hope you get to stop in there too! I love Amsterdam. Enjoy
Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Absolutely wonderful, Gary! Thank you so very much for sharing your trip with us, especially the museum pieces. You certainly make the best of what is offered/occurs during a planned trip! I know the rest of your trip will be just as enjoyable and look forward to you sharing whatever you can with us.
Thank you for sharing this technique of the eyelet stitch. I hope you enjoy your trip and especially to Amsterdam because I live in Holland. Have a great time 🎉
Thanks for sharing your travel experience with us 🙋♀️🇨🇦
Lucky...!
Hope your travels are fun. Thanks so much for taking us along.
Safe travels..on my bucket list to cruise there
What a pretty and interesting stitch. Thanks for sharing the technique with us. I absolutely cannot wait to see your next two videos from abroad!!! Safe and fun travels!
Thank you, Gary!
I agree, Gary, this was a wonderful episode, greatly enjoyed! As a matter of fact, I think you should make some of those biscuits and bring them to the shop one day... Gluten free or not, I would definitely love to taste one (microwaved warm of course and with real butter; no sausage gravy for me)! I am also really looking forward to seeing the new shop episodes as the shop evolves; how exciting!! Thank you and I hope you had a happy Labor Day.
It amazes me how many of my childhood memories of holidays: x- mas, Easter, ect.,are all tied to favorite recipes and even food prep :)
😄
Such a great episode 😊 The topic elicits heartfelt, fond memories of childhood, spending time with family & friends. It really is true how those memories are attached to a specific pot, serving dish, bakeware. Thanks for sharing
I just discovered your channel and am so glad I did! Great information. I am new to cross stitching ( less than a year) so all information is appreciated. I want to stitch in hand, but I find myself bent over the work, neck and back aching, and struggling to find my place. I suppose I need to work on Aida with huge holes. Is all Aida so stiff? It has, for me, a very unpleasant feel. I will find my way, and I will persevere as, at 73 years of age, I still so enjoy learning new arts/crafts. Thank you for your educational and enjoyable videos.
@@cabinfevercrafts1439 Aida is generally pretty stiff, but you find that it softens as you handle it. There are also softer fibers in 14 count. The key is to have fun!
@@garysligh7020 Thank you, I will give it a try.
A Victorian mansion down the street!! I cannot wait!!! Congratulations, Gary! I am SO VERY HAPPY that you are expanding in Leesburg! Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the historical aspects about samplers in the US as well as seeing the two antique pieces that you shared with us.
Interesting sampler info., 😊
Love that Redwork Sampler you were blessed with by someone. Can’t wait to see your new location. I think I stitched something like a crewl embroidery kit many, many moons ago when I was growing up. My sister is the keeper of those two pieces now.
Wow, a new location. That is so exciting.
👍👍
Gary, thank you it’s always enjoyable to listen to the history of handwork. I learn something new each time I join you.
Lovely video Gary. I have to keep up with all your videos. I am also a lover of renaissance stitching and embroidery. I have "in the making" a Catherine and Blackwork episode and I do totally agree with all you say and mention. Your channel is a real pleasure to follow.
@@anaxstitch looks like I’m going to enjoy your videos as well. Thanks for connecting.
Gary, I cannot tell you how much I enjoy the history you share regarding the handmade objects! Thank you! Looking forward to the next segment!
How wonderful video Gary. I follow your channel from Spain and I have made a video in spanish about the origins of embroidery and cross stitch. As you said you speak spanish and the video is a presentation it might be of your interest. I have this theory in between the close relation of moorish and mediterranian arabic culture and the beginning of samplers and blackwork and xstitch. ua-cam.com/video/_mpJHvDeU3U/v-deo.html Video number 45 in my channel.
👍👍
I love Christmas stockings too. For my immediate family, I knit one for each. I cross stitched three for my grands. Yours are beautiful!
I loved this. My first interest in quilts started with crazy quilts. Loved all the embellishments, and the free form, no rule concept. Thanks!
Oh, Gary! This segment is by far my favorite one! I really enjoyed seeing all of Sally's pieces; the variety is mesmerizing! I see what you meant about Sally being the instigator for the gorgeous quilt you and Dave so cunningly surprised me with. It can be looked at for hours while always seeing and appreciating something new on it. Thank you!
The fact that you give the history of the technique makes your lessons so much more informative and enjoyable..
👍
What a fantastic history lesson combining my two favourite subjects, cross stitch and British royalty. Thank you so much.
@@christinewitney88 I am so glad you enjoyed it!
