The Poet Laureate Channel
Приєднався 2 сер 2008
This channel was started in May of 2023 and my main inspiration for the channel is England’s amazing singer-songwriter Frank Watkinson. I hope to be sharing some great covers and some originals during the next few years. As I’ve learned from Frank, age is not a barrier to creativity. In 2023 I was named the North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin inaugural poet laureate. I’m also president of the Wordsmiths Writers Club. The poet laureate position was created by our fabulous Spillman Public Library. I also hope to share poetry and some interviews on this site as well.
Happy New Year 2025!
Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots-language poem written by Robert Burns in 1788, later set to a traditional folk tune. The title translates to "old long since" or more loosely, "for old times' sake" in modern English.
The phrase reflects a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for past friendships and shared memories. The song is widely associated with farewells and new beginnings, most famously sung during New Year's Eve celebrations to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one.
The lyrics emphasize the importance of remembering and cherishing old friendships and shared experiences, even as time moves forward. For example:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
These lines question whether old friendships and memories should ever be forgotten, encouraging people to hold onto them.
Ultimately, "Auld Lang Syne" is a heartfelt reminder to celebrate the bonds of friendship and the moments that connect us, no matter how much time has passed.

AI Review: “The Way You Look At Me (Brad’s Song to Joel)" is a tender and heartfelt ballad performed by Bridget Everett and Tim Bagley) on HBO’s "Somebody Somewhere." The song exudes simplicity, yet its emotional depth resonates profoundly. Its acoustic arrangement-no capo needed-keeps the focus on the raw vulnerability of the lyrics and the unguarded sincerity of Everett’s delivery. The lyrics...

AI Review: “Fear of God" by Guadalcanal Diary is a haunting, introspective track that captures the band's Southern gothic vibe. The vocals convey a sense of raw urgency, while the steady rhythm creates a tense, almost eerie atmosphere. The song's lyrics delve into themes of existential fear and searching for meaning, giving it a dark, reflective edge. It's a powerful example of the band’s abili...
