Well it looks better than the previous Garmin Instinct solar like I have. Seems to have a bigger screen probably for more solar paneling which is why they boast the infinate battery charge. The visability of the display seems crisper and easier to read vrs previous instinct displays. I just ordered the moss to replace my previous instinct which brings me to my gripes about garmins instinct watches which are really small gripes. The watch depending where you buy can run up to $499.00 and lowest I have see is $349.00 which is why I choose to go ahead and buy the newer model, that and my older ones battery and charge port are going out. That alone is some of my gripes being 1. You cannot change the battery out. 2. The charge port on the previous instinct was of poor design with no cover to protect it. I see they still have these same design flaws not giving customers a way to replace the battery if needed nor have they improved the charge port by offering some better protection. A lot of people like myself sweat alot and sweat out alot of salt. This wrecks the port after so long making it hard to make contact when charging. Yeah I know they offer wireless charging capabilaties but people do not know these wireless charging options are dangerous especially if you try cutting corners and buy a cheap chinese knock off which can destroy these watches and cause fires if left unattended. The next gripe is just minor and cosmetic in nature. I really liked the older Instincts watch colors which included Camo types. I see no options this time around other than Graphite, Red, White, Moss and I think Black, though that may be just Graphite. The other grip is the watch band, its the same cheap rubber which does not last. For the price they are asking they should have improved the bands quality even opting Carbon Fiber. Quality matters to me especially when it's my money I am spending. Garmin can't tell me they cannot afford a better quality product because if Casio can make a $15.00 watch last 10 yrs including the band then Garmin has no excuse to provide a better contructed band on their $400.00 watch. I see a lot of these new Garmin up for resale on Ebay which questions why someone would be selling the new updated Instinct if it has improved over the older model. I alway pay close attention to that when buying new so called improved products including asking the sellers why they are getting rid of it. Most say it's because of like the gripes I listed. Maybe if Garmin would listen to the customers perhaps they would sell more products. Well there was no point for me buying the older version if this holds true on the charging and pointless for me to send it to garmin to fix it whether a new battery of port. Because there are so few watches with accurate pulse sensors I choose Garmin because it is the most accurate out there. You will either like this watch or absolutely hate it.
