The A74 is a beast and it looks better image quality-wise. The one advantage of the FX3 is its NETFLIX-approved camera. A74 is crazy trust. Get CF CARDS LENSES, LIGHTS and others things to rig the A74 out and you will be unstoppable.

Well, A7iv has completely different sensor than A7siii so there is no point comparing there two..

The Creator for example was shot by an experienced DP using the FX3. The FX3 didn't really contribute to the 'look' of this movie - but ultimately what did was the skill of the DP (Oren Soffer), the lenses being used, location, and excellent storytelling. Ultimately, the point I'm trying to make here is this: forget the camera. Anything above the $5000.00 AUD mark is good enough. Camera's are just data-capturing devices. Learn how to light, frame a shot, shoot for the edit, etc is far more important.

The inherent Arri or Red 'look' you are talking about is not based on the sensor. Sure, I agree shooting RAW makes things more malleable in post-production, but why things look so damn good on Arri and Red cameras is because people that use these cameras are very experienced DP's. They know how to light and compose a shot which ultimately makes things 'look good'. Additionally, what will influence a 'look' also comes down to the lens being used.

This reminds me of a Casey Neistat episode from a long time ago, where he explained the cost-to-quality ratio of cameras. At some point, you get to a part of the price range where your output of that camera is such a small difference, that it isn’t really worth continuing to upgrade. That it’s better to just find the camera that fits your workflow best, to get the story you want to tell out there, in the way that you want. For instance, for me; the dream camera for me would be a Blackmagic Pocket 6K. But I knew that, as much as I wanted it for the picture it produces, it wouldn’t benefit me due to it being designed to shine with a crew, not a solo creator. So I opted for the FX-30; a substantial upgrade to the Canon M50, video wise. Now I have two decent cameras, one for photos and one for video that can help one another in a pinch. And they both make my workflow be much smoother than how it was when I ran my Canon for both mediums.

I use this in 2024, I film long events, conferences, corporate awards etc. I find that it just works. Small file size, long battery life, ND filters, audio top handle. It’s functional and gives great results

Yeah same situation here, started with the a7iv and got the fx3. The menu system are just wildly different especially the PP problem with it

You have to try the monitor+ app, I like it because the connection is much better plus you can do a wire connection between the 2 and have 0 lag input

I think enjoyed this movie. Not to the extent I was hoping for but the stunts and action were great, the cast was excellent and all the behind the scenes of the movie set sequences had my inner movie geek very satisfied! Great review

Great Video! I'm currently using the GH5 and looking to upgrade to a new full-frame camera. I'm torn between the S5iix and the FX3. Do you think the extra cost for the FX3 is worth it? Or should i maybe consider the FX30? I’ve watched several footage videos from both cameras on UA-cam, especially in the music video genre, and I find Sony’s look much more modern and cinematic.

doesn't fx3 have AWB ?? I have an fx30 and shoot AWB all the time , I think its the same with fx3 , I hope so , I just bought an fx3 and its coming in a few days,,,I don't shoot in cine ei , I shoot slog 3 flexible iso

The battery thing happened with my A7 IV . I got a combo from adorama that came with an additional 3rd party battery. After my first update it stopped working. The battery worked fine prior to updating my camera.

Great video man, makes a lot of sense. The gear is only as good as the user. I personally love the Panasonic Lumix S line of full-frame cameras, saving towards the S5IIX, I have the S5 currently. I do hope you get that SD Card slot issue sorted out soon.

1, complaining about something you probably broke aren’t fair enough. 2 you want sony to allow you to use “fake” batteries and 3rd party ones that probably damaged your camera and you will complain about that too 3 you saying that its bothering you that the camera and the lenses is too expensive for you and you will probably should have got the fx30 but after that you talking about”red” and “arri”… No hate but you said some weird stuff
