I took my cluster apart and my rpm guage stopped working. I took motor apart and tried other motors and it works to sweep the guage but when I start the truck it oesnt move or sometimes moves in reverse. Any help?
I performed a gauge sweep hoping to reset my temp needle. The needle points straight down now, hitting the oil needle. Can I pull the instrument cluster and manually reset the temp needle like you did with the speedometer? Thanks.
I remember the good old days of older vehicles, having to use a speedometer cable to measure your speed, and how the needles on the cluster would flutter up & down. On my father’s 1987 GMC Suburban, the speedometer cable broke, and I had to re-install a new one. A real chore.
Maybe I messed up, but this didn’t work for me on my ‘04 F150. Most of the gauges were way off. To reset: with the trick off, press and hold the little reset pin on the cluster while you turn the key to the “run” position. Release after the gauge cluster reads “TEST”. The needles will sweep and reset themselves.
I pulled my temp Niddle off and was working just went to hot I put my njddle Back on know it won't move do I need to pull Nicole all the way over and back to 0 any help would be thankful
Any idea if this would work on a Mazda close to that year of Ford? I have a 06 mazda 3 and I recently replaced the needles but they are way off and when they move, its very ridged and not smooth whatsoever. You reckon this method would work?
Many thanks your information was right on target. I marked tape put the needles on in the exact same location I started the car the needles moved way out of position I was able to fix it using your method thanks for sharing. Replaced lightbulb on odometer 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with only 24,000 miles. 😳
Is it the same when it comes to the MPH cause when I go top speed it says 102mph but in reality it reads like 97 and even if I drive in highway I go 75 on the cluster but I’m going 78moh on a speed app
Is your key on when you first start? When you pop the needles off with the fork is your key on? The reason I ask is because it looks like it is on because I can see your battery light and engine light on to the left of the temperature gage. Also will this work on a 2006 Chevy trailblazer?
YOU ARE A F***** LEGEND - THANK YOU!!!! I have been looking for help on this for hours till i came across your video, i have cold solder joints on my cluster and they aren't accessible! Thanks a million
Sir, you are an apsolute legend. I work on my cars my whole life, you can imagine how many good videos I watched and followed instructions. However, this one is by far the best instruction nowhere to be found. You are my hero for life boss!!!
Nice video! 👏Can we do same calibration for the fuel and temperature gauge?

Anyone know if this'll work on a 06 ranger cluster? I have the "donor" apart and I don't feel the gauge motors clicking like shown in the video.
thanks for this I was about to go looking for a bench power supply and a wiring harness
Do you go back past “zero” on all the gauges? Fuel, battery, etc?
Is calibrating the speedometer the same method?

This was the only thing stopping me from changing a blown bulb in my cluster - didn't want to mess up the needles. No excuse not to do it now!
That's how you end up getting free beer wherever you go. Well done!

Excellent and useful video. Thank you sir. Do we have to take the needle out to re-calibrate or did you just do it for the illustration? Thx
