Very nice bike in mint condition, very good review. I guess you prefer the Pan for the longer trips in comfort, and the Deauviĺle for daily conmute and shorter twistier rides. Keep nice videos coming please.
@@ferrolwindsurfer thank you 👍, we will keep them coming.
I had two K1100lt’s with some time in between them. Done my iron butt on one. Still have a couple of beemers in my shed but this bike has been so long on the waiting list that this coming season o want to have it in my garage. Both k1100 and the st1100 hold their own but k1100 always seemed a bit too busy at the travelling pace in a way waiting to be whipped. The st is much longer legged and feels much more relaxed at cruising speeds. This in essence is something i am expecting of a touring bike that takes me places. After 40odd bikes all o need is chill and returning home. Best regards from Poland 🇵🇱
@@motooilermotooiler9597 I also had beemers 2 x K100rs and 1 K1100rs, I prefer the ST1100. Handling, Engine and the way it makes progress on the roads. Hope you manage to obtain a good ST1100 and enjoy it 🤓👍
@@RetiredtoRideSpain something o am a little wary of is that the st is even heavier than k1100lt but hope that underseat tank does it’s job at alleviating that weight a bit. Apart from that - the tank capacity on k1100 was always kind of a joke to me.
@ I find the weight disappears as soon as the bike is moving, but pushing it around from a standstill it’s heavy and awkward, but the K1100 was more or less the same to manoeuvre around from a standstill. The ST1100 carry’s it’s weight well in the bends as the low centre of gravity makes it less top heavy feeling than the K1100, that’s my experience anyway.
I have a 1991 1100 with 40000 miles still rides like a dream I am a few years older than you at 71 but will never stop riding my pan as long as I can lift it great video by the way make the most of life and happy 2025 to you and co poilet.
@@lloydjones1834 thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Stay safe and wishing you a good two wheeled 2025 🤓👍
I live in Colorado USA and have a 2010 NT700v.Same exact bike although the lids on your saddle bags look much wider than on mine.Great bike but i would not take it on a long tour. Its great on the 200,300 mile rides on the local twisties but on the freeway it gets old after an hour or two.Needs a sixth gear in my opinion.I bought an ST1300 which is better suited to long hiway speeds hour after hour but not near the lighter better handling NT700V.The NT is so much more fun to ride because its much liter. Cheers from the other side of the pond.
@@brucemorrison3563 Hi thanks for that. We plan our routes, where possible, off the freeway 🤓. The roads in Spain suit our mooching along taking in the scenery riding style. Our last bike was the ST1100 which was better on the Freeway at Speed. The wide saddle bag/pannier lids were an official Honda option in Europe I don’t know if they were offered as an option in North America.
loving your new deauville 700 ,your 650 deauville was in great condition too ,look forward to a full review
@@seanfoley6838 thanks 👍, very pleased with it. I think we made the right choice
I had a black one like yours, but no abs or trac. control , never really needed it, the brakes had such a good feel, and I do my own abs by fluttering the handle until weight transfers. I've had a few brake induced low sides. I'm 74 and want another. Freeway on ramps are entertaining once the tach hits 7k. It's a beautifully simple, elegant piece of industrial design.
@@peterkukay Yep it has an elegance in its form and is very functional. I have not used the ABS or TCS but was surprised it had TCS considering its age. 🤓👍
I have an ST1100 and have been thinking of downsizing to a Deauville. Thanks for doing the comparison.
@@RufusCapstick 🤓👍
Great review! I'm looking into getting one for 3.5k € with 60.000 km. You covered all the points perfectly. 👍
@@dmc_vlogs thank you, I hope you enjoy yours too 👍
Sorry, you said that the bike has 95 HP but she's 100 HP. 75 kW (100 hp) @ 8,500 rpm
Sounds as though you have made the correct choice and are enjoying the bike. Nice colour as well…
@@24710635 Cheers mate, we are happy with the 700 and looking forward to some touring adventures 2025 🤓👍. And Hopefully we get another chance to ride together soon somewhere in Europe 🫰.
I really liked this video, because it gives a complete idea about the Pan European ST 1100. It reinforced all the opinions I have heard and seen about this model. Congratulations on the way you presented this bike. What mobile phone holder do you use and how was it applied? Is it effective or are there other better alternatives?
@@orlandoluis6415 Hi, thank you for your comments I use the SP phone mount system for the Pan. It works well as the base can be adhered to flat surfaces , as you can see I placed it above the clocks and below the screen. To use a handlebar mounting would necessitate removing the handlebar shroud. That’s why I use the SP mount. Next to the mount I installed a Phone charger , (bought cheaply online), it is wired to the bike battery and has an on/off switch. I hope this information is of use to you 🤓👍
@@RetiredtoRideSpain ok, thanks. I think I will use it the same way as yours.
Beautiful footage. I have seen many videos about the charismatic Pan European. I am buying a 1996 with 60,000 km, and although at first I was a little suspicious, after so many videos about this bike, I am completely convinced that I made a good deal. I hope to have the pleasure of imitating you and doing many kilometers, both in Portugal and throughout Europe... to do justice to the name of this Honda model. I am working in Norway and I am counting the days until I go to the motorcycle dealership to pick up my machine that is waiting for me to ride. Thanks for sharing the videos!! I do kike blues too 🙂
Would not change my 650 v 2003 deauville , still going strong.
@@malcolmwatton4323 regret selling mine but very happy with the 700 🤓👍
I still have my ntv600. It’s a great bike. I’m vertically challenged….5’-6” and replaced my cx500 following a chat with a ntv600 rider. It was brilliant in North Wales and France, the hills of the Corrèze .
@@californiadreamin8423 I would like to ride the NTV600 but they are quite rare nowadays. 🤓👍
@ A friend had the Deuville. He loved it but hardly rode it. He hinted at selling it , and I was tempted for the extra power and storage. What made the difference was all the plastic making , in my mind, access difficult. I never needed to, but I’m old fashioned, and I think I needed a naked bike. The seat height and shaft drive and low rpm thump appealed to me. I used to strap saddle bags over the rear seat, a tent on top, and I tank bag, and off I went. Speed wasn’t important to me, but agility/manoeuvrability when exploring was.

Another good motorcycle the uk biking press took a dislike to.
@@martinowl 🤓👍 Yep, the colour schemes, non racer riding position and lack of blistering acceleration didn’t suit their wheelie whilst wearing toothpaste tube leathers selfie photo shots for the Magazine 🤗
My biggest mistake ever was getting rid of my Deauville. Comfort, good ride quality, spirited frugal enginee, quality finish and the thing I miss most, the shaft drive. I listened to the anti-Honda crap - no character, boring etc etc ...what a fool I was. Mine was silver but that red of yours looks amazing.
@@ragarse3 Yep 🤓 we both like it and importantly for us It suits our needs. I don’t believe any bike is perfect but this one is the closest match to our longer term plans and it’s in Red too 😄👍 plus it’s a Honda 😎. Thanks for your comment

@@davidwright873 😜 I said in the film if you want power then this isn’t the bike for you. Though It’s enough for us as we just mooch along happily in the sunshine
Brilliant owners view review. Lovely roads and an interesting ownership history.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it 🤓👍
Why did you just post a "first impressions" on a bike that's almost 20 years old?
@@DoctorZisIN the clue is at the beginning of the film when I quote ‘Our First Impressions’ it’s a new to us machine.
@@RetiredtoRideSpain Get it, thanks
Very informative video. I have never ridden one but always thought it would be a good choice. My wife and I own a 1997 Honda PC800, the pacific Coast with 800cc Vtwin. It is my most favorite bike that I have ever owned. I bought it in 2010 with 21,500 miles on it and now have 64,000 miles on it. It is a nice handling very smooth bike with its rubber mounted engine. The luggage capacity is impressive as we also have a trunk on top of the trunk. LOL It weighs somewhere near 600 pounds.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed our efforts 🤓👍. I would love to try the PC800 but they are quite rare here in Spain
Thanks for the review. Looks like a very nice machine for the type of riding you two are doing. I'm currently riding a 2012 CBF600SA here in Canada and it suits me perfectly. For reasons I can't quite put into words ... maybe just cuz they were dominant in my formative years ... I have a preference for inline 4's ... Cheers! ps Liked your line about a horse for every cowboy. I'm gonna steal that one ... and maybe in cheeky way ; )
@@RussellWardman thanks for your comments, I like inline fours also and the CBF600 I would like to ride, maybe one day 🫰. I stole the ‘ the horse for every cowboy’ quote from a friend in Indiana USA 🤓
Would have been nice to have one in the States. I have a 1988 NT650 Hawk. Hard to get parts for it now.
@@josephreisinger33 hawk is a nice bike 👍
Have you tried David Silver or CSMNL for spares?

May you have many, many trouble free miles. As an add on, thanks again for putting up with me and sister Fi for 10 glorious days at the beginning of the month, and it was nice too see the Baby Pan in the flesh! Thank you for sharing the lovely ride! Subbed! I'm an ST guy at heart but, man, sure wish Honda would sell that CBF500 here in the USA. It's a perfect midsize bike and classic Honda styling, not this pointy angular stuff they all sell here now. Cheers!
@@jkro30a thank you 🤓👍 much appreciated. The 500 is a wonderful ride and impressively nimble and quick
I love your relaxing narration! And Brenda does a very good job filming... Hope your neck gets better soon! Why don't you try a Suzuki V-Strom 1050.. I ride 35K a year and after 8 hours riding nothing hurts! Take care!
@@fphr67 Thank you 🤓👍 much appreciated. We have tried the V-Strom, (a beautiful bike 🤗), unfortunately it is too high for Brenda to get on and off 🤔😟.

Yay! 1st! Another terrific video, Mr Jon. Very pleasing and of course outstanding cinematic televisuals from Brenda as usual. How long have you been waiting for an opportunity to reel out the badge holder gag? 😂 Good choice picking the Baby Pan. It looks fantastic mate. Keep 'em coming and ride safe old friend.
Thanking you Mr Frank for your erstwhile comments, it were a Grand Day Out Grommit 😂👍. The gag was itching to be used 😊
Watching this brought back memories of my 1996 pan we toured all over Europe two up never missed a beat. As I reached my late sixties, sadly it had to go as my right hip gave up the ghost but I still miss it
@@petermoore-x1h sympathise with you, neck vertebrae problems have steered me towards a 700 Deauville 😔 Sounds like our little review brought back some good memories 🤓👍
Excellent video. Your bike looks mint. Love final conclussion of what it takes to be a good bike, certainly not the TFT... Enjoy your classic sports tourer Sir😊
@@ferrolwindsurfer 🤓👍 when something is good it’s just…….GOOD (Years ago I had a Volvo 240 Station wagon/ Estate car 7 seats, 2litre engine built like a tank, uber reliable that was the same kind of good).
Another excellent video, pity the bike isn’t a Red one cause they go faster
@@rugbyfester thank you, as ever, for your significant comment contribution, it is hugely appreciated and always a joy 😊😂
I agree with all I’ve heard so far (I’m half way through) but I hope that you add a very important fact somewhere; the ST1100 Pan European is a great touring bike but the ST1300 with its shorter wheelbase and it’s engine with more power and more torque is even better, it’s a really great spores tourer.🙂
@davidmatthews3093 Mmmmm I have yet to ride the 1300, several of my riding friends have them. I have purposely not mentioned the 13 in the review of the 11 as I cannot comment on something I have not ridden
Yay! 1st! An excellent review of a splendid bike Mr Jon. I rode a Pan European for AA/Vodafone Road Watch giving traffic reports on the radio for a year, although it was the 1300cc version. I did around 25,000 miles and it didn't miss a beat, she started first time in all weathers and was very, very comfortable. I have done some sums on your stated 5 -7 l per 100km (because that means nothing to my small brain) and that averages out at 47 miles to the gallon, (an easier measurement to understand, I think) and that's an extremely respectable figure with full luggage and two up, and that'll give you a tank range* of around 280 miles. You will not get those figures if you ride like a fool, so a great testament to your riding ability and respect for a pillion. For those that were thinking... Not *that* sort of tank. 😂 Not *that* sort of range. 😂 Well done Mr Jon. keep them coming mate.
Thank you Mr Frank for your comments as usual a delight to read your missives. See you soon my old Mule Wrangler matey bloke 😂
@@RetiredtoRideSpain Indeedy!
I owned an ST1300 for nine years after buying it new in 2012. I loved it both as a touring bike and a bike to ride for the fun of it. In my ownership it never averaged less than 50 mpg and usually managed nearer 55. Occasionally I would get 57/58. In all the time I owned it I got it serviced as required and replaced the tyres and brake pads as required. Nothing ever went wrong or needed replacing. I traded it in when I moved to live in France because it wasn’t suited to the D roads that I use when travelling around and to be honest it was too fast, every time I overtook something I entered licence losing territory. My current Honda, a 500X is just as much fun despite having about one third of the power and my annual mileage has doubled.
@ I like the look of the CB500X 👍 same engine as my cbf500 but with fuel injection I think
