Sad news, I knew Tony and a few of his drivers in and around Neasden NW10 and drunk in his pub. Me and my father had a yard in Neasden Lane Railway Goods Yard sand blasting & Spraying tippers & Plant. I also drove Scania tipper for Tony Alloyed sadly not with us either up & down the M1 to Junction 13 land fill site. I've great memories of those days. RIP guys.

I used to cycle to the Scammell Factory in Tolpits lane Watford when i was about 14. It was 30 mins from my parents house House.Long since closed and i am old and poor.

I remember when I was a lad going with my Grandad from Newcastle to Murmansk a Russian warship broke down and needed a shaft bearing it was picked up from Michel bearings and drove to Murmansk…took 7 days ..in a Scania 141 never forgot how nice the Russian People ..always wondered why the Russians were supposedly our Enemy but we were trading with them just goes to show how bent politics is and I can confirm absolutely nothing has changed

Tony was a very good man i met Tony at the irish show about 9 years ago he was admiring my fordson 7v tipper and said wat a lovely little truck and every year he would come and say hello what a great man.

McGovern used to take our refuse from harper lang tip when it became a transfer station then when I worked for a private refuse company we dieseled up in there yard Colin road always see McGovern wagons on the road looking clean and good

Just seen this one. What can I say. The reality of it was so far different from the fairy story of Middle east Trucking. It was hard work, long hours ( And I mean Looooong Hours ). No support apart from your fellow Drivers ( In most cases, but not all, as there were some "arse holes" running out there as well ). Many many hours/days sat around waiting to get cleared. And then days and days waiting to get tipped. And then if you were unlucky you would be sent out to collect abandoned vehicles. And that was not fun as you never new what condition it would be in. So why did we do it. Well I cannot really answer that one. Everybody running European back in the Early 70's probably had the dream to do the ultimate Driving experience and do the Middle East. So that was my excuse. Did I enjoy it. I dont think enjoy was the right word. But would I have changed the experience. NO not a chance. It was the experience of a lifetime and I did meet many great fellow Drivers. And the one thing you had to be is as mad as a hatter, and have the character to keep on smiling when everything possible went wrong. Those memories will never leave me. And to be truthful if the same opportunity arose today. YES I would do it again. 🙄🙄🙄

I must've done 99.99% of the signwriting in this video🖌..from Boalloy Linkliners & Tautliners to York Boxes via, ribbed Fruehauf dry boxes and fridges, Gray & Adams fridges, SDC curtainsiders, Volvo 88s, F7s, F10s, F12s, FLs and FHs, Mercs, Scanias etc. etc. etc. I even remember going to Ronnie's house (it was like Southfork Ranch😂) to paint names & numbers on the horse boxes and stables etc.
