Furniture Flip (Drab to Fab)
Переглядів 674 місяці тому
I updated this super cute little cabinet into a decorative piece of furniture. The second I saw it, it reminded me of a garden gate and the Peter Rabbit story. Sometimes the furniture tells me what it want to be. I tracked down a Peter Rabbit poster and decopauged it to the front, hand painted the sides, added a super cute carrot knob and she was ready for her new home. One of my favorite flips...
How To Use Chalk Paint (Make a Decorative Wall Hanging)
Переглядів 565 місяців тому
I have used an old kitchen cabinet door that I picked up at my local Restore - Habitat For Humanity Store - to make a super cool wall hanging. I donated this to a wild horse society called HAWS in Alberta, Canada to put in a fundraiser they were having. Cabinet doors and chalk paint go hand in hand and they are one of my favorite backdrops to transform into awesome wall hangings. They already h...

    Was there a reason why you chose to add the water based clear coat over the lacquer, which offers good protection?

    • @davisroaddesigns7231
      @davisroaddesigns7231 9 місяців тому

      Great question. I did spray the laquer first - I have found by putting a light coat of lacquer followed by the clear coat - it keeps my paper from puckering. Since it’s more of a poster type paper than decoupage paper, it takes a little extra to make sure it stays adhered to my piece. I feel the lacquer by itself does not offer enough protection and wanted something more durable.
