Let’s see if this 1953 Case DC has some work left in her after a 10 year nap
Fixing a 1993 Lowe’s Garden Tractor
Переглядів 2 тис.8 місяців тому
Today we are cleaning the carb and replacing the ignition switch on this 1993 Lowe’s garden tractor/mower. It has an 18hp Briggs and Stratton Opposed Twin Engine
You found a gem in the old DC Case.
The more I drive it, the more I like it!
Good to see case tractors. Most places you go you see John Deere & Farmall
It’s always nice to break up the crowd a little bit! That is also one of the big reasons we like the old Cases, you just simply don’t see them at events like this
Love them old tractors!!
There is nothing else like them!
Foot clutch DC is hard to find. You did good.
Thanks! Always try to snatch up these when they are close and a good deal. Right after I found this one dad found a foot clutch SC
Great to see and hear those incredible old CASE tractors.
We were the only Case tractors there again this year, nice to break up the Deeres and Farmalls!
@@YesteryearGarage Same here.
That ol Massey like to shake the muffler off 😂. Lots of great fun . Great video fellas .👍
I can't believe it would idle that slow, couldn't have been making more than 300-400 rpm lol. Thanks for watching.
Love them all, I have the 1946 Farmall H my late grandpa bought brand new, I've owned it since 1997 and in the 80's my family moved to a place that ended up having a 49 DC in an old barn and my dad and I resurrected it, great memories..
Never get rid of that Farmall! What a find to have one of those old DC beasts patiently waiting for you!
Oh it's never going anywhere, it'll be with me til my dying day!
Where was this ?? 1951 JD A here, it does take a while to travel distances at 12 miles per hour 🤣💛💚👍 New Hampshire
Its nice to slow down and be able to take in all of the scenery! The old cases top out at about 10mph which is the perfect pace for a tractor ride in my opinion
Will you be riding in it next year?
@@jessegibson8900 that is the plan! I have an old John Deere B that I want to get going for next year
Will you be riding in it next year?
love the dc.i started driving a 1951 wide frt,propane when i was 12.86 now.did a lot of work with it.thank you
I started driving some of dads when I was around the same age, really good memories!
Floyd VA??
The one and only!
@@YesteryearGarage I m from around the area...
Nice! Love to see these old tractors out and running free! Amazing how after all of these years, these tractors just keep on plugging along, just doing what they were intended for. I hope nd pray that future generations will keep'em going. I have a '39 Allis Chalmers B that has been in my family since my dad bought it second hand in 1951. I must say, I have always wanted to acquire a DC, maybe someday.
We try to save all that we can! I agree, pretty amazing feat that these 70+ year old machines are still out here getting work done! Definitely recommend adding a DC to any collection!
You'll love a DC Case. One of the finest tractors ever.
Super cool! I have a '44 DC4 I'm waiting to resurrect!
I would love to find a DC-4 or a straight D to add to the collection. You see plenty of DC-3s around here, but hardly ever another variant of the D series. If you need any help with it feel free to reach out!
@YesteryearGarage probably the most fun I’ve had fully clothed. Can’t wait for next year!
We need another collab in the very near future!
I have always wanted to get my hands on one of these old DC's. As a kid growing up, had a neighbor farm that had one, along with a Cockshutt 40 narrow front. I love the sound and styling of both tractors. Hope to someday add them both. Hearing the sound of both of them out in the field plowing all day, just sends shivers up my back!😃
@@mikewarren9850 they are out there and fairly cheap if you shop around. I typically buy stuff non running as it is cheaper and is more fun to bring one back to life! Between dad and I we have 3 DCs
Magee case😍 olen myyty🥰👍
Thanks for watching!
Why are you on UA-cam showing people the wrong way to do things?
What is it that you think I am doing wrong?
I love them old tractors!! I have a farmall m I got from grandpa 30 years ago!! They don't make them like that anymore!!
An M was the DCs competition back in the day!
the one we had ,had a wish bone back under the tractor.the trike front stayed off.made a nicer looking tractor.thank you again
Have fun on the ride. 😊
It was loads of fun, I am working on putting a video of it together now!
She sounds great!
That straight pipe really talks!
thank you for saving ole casey.i spent many hours on one in the 50,s.good old tractors.very powerful. ours was a wide front and propane gas.1951 yr.
They are definitely torque monsters. I would love to find a wide front to add to the collection cause you do not seem them very often. My dad has 2 DCs, the one you see in the videos of this one which is a 1950, and he has a 1952 that we need to get going as well.
She sounds good i just pulled a 1175 out of a shed its been in for 30 years it is a sweet heart good have a great day on the tractor drive
1175 is a big boy! The drive was good time, putting the video together now, hopefully will have it out in the next week or so
Keep up the good work man. Watching how easy it was to pull that radiator made me almost jealous, I’ve got a 1951 Farmall M in my shop right now with a factory wide front axle. Have to remove the whole axle to get to the bolts to remove the radiator since they are boxed in behind the mounting plate for the axle 🙄🙄🙄
It definitely was not as bad as I was expecting, still annoying that you have to do that just to replace the belts though! Like those Ms too, almost bought a couple but some one else was quicker than I was!
@@YesteryearGarage they’re good old tractors, I’ve owned several of them the past few years
G day from Ontario. Good luck. Ths
Thank you!
Nice old Case, one of the first tractors I ever owned was a 53 just like that except mine had the adjustable wide front axle on it. Love seeing someone else get these old machines back up and running
@@TractorTalesCattleTails appreciate it my man! They represent so much of our agricultural history, and they are just plain fun! Be sure to check out parts 2 & 3 to see it make its come back!
@@YesteryearGarage will do. Headed out to the farm to work on one of mine for a while but will definitely check out parts 2 & 3 when we get back home tonight
They only ran on 10lb of oil pressure
As long as it stays there it doesn’t bother me, after it gets warm it’ll go almost to 0 if you idle it down
Saved another one good deal
Love the steering wheel
Try to save as many as I can! Once they are gone they are gone along with all of their parts. The wheel is a bit of a one off custom job from a tree branch 😂
I see you wear the same comfortable shoes I do when working on things lol.
Gotta love the safety crocs!
Basically...an MTD Tradesman.
Correct, MTD made them and everyone and their brother put their badge on them!
@@YesteryearGarage I have the Tradesman sitting here, waiting for me to SHOW IT SOME LOVE!! I'll strip it down to a bare frame and replace....basically everything. 18.5 opposing twin gets a refresh. Should last ANOTHER 40 years
Could you tell me what size socket i need for spark plugs bc the space in here is so tight idk which one i need. I might have missed it
Those particular plugs are a 7/8 wrench size. There was room enough for me to get an impact socket on them.
@@YesteryearGarage ok thanks ya I can't get a impact on mine it's enought room to get a needle in there very tight for mine
@@dakotak8437 I just used an impact socket on a ratchet cause that is what I had laying around. I have had to take a grinder and basically turn the end of a socket down before to get it in a tight place. Go buy you a cheapo deepwell socket in the size you need and just make it fit! Sometimes a scrench for a chain saw will fit down in a tight spot as well but they are most often 19mm or 3/4
@@YesteryearGarage thanks didn't think about that I'm gunna give them a shot and see how it goes thanks agen
those always sounded cool, like a V-twin motorcycle :)
They definitely sound way better than an old lawn mower should! Dad has an older model that has factory duals on it, sounds even better!
You got to learn how to handcrank I have a 1939 case DEX and i know how to start it Kristen
I grew up on a VAC that the starter did not work on. Something is worn on this one and it did not want to stay seated in the crank hub. Plus with it not having run in years the starter helped give it the extra push to get going. Dad also has a couple of SCs that typically get hand cranked.
It looks good i just bought a 830 ck with 1865 hrs it came from the original family that bought it new it is spotty rust but in very good shape
She’s a little rough around the edges but we will put it to work if it’ll stay together. I’ve always wanted to run one of the later model number series, but there does not seem to be many of those around here.
Good video Travis. Looking forward to the next one! It will be interesting to see what’s going on with the knock.
I am hoping it can be fixed with a redneck crank polish and a new rod bearing. The old guy who used to own it had to be running it like that so I hope the crank is not tore up.
Very niceley done! I'm from northern Sweden and you unfortunatly never see any Case tractors around here. A family friend of mine had a Case S with an aftermarket three point hitch! It conked out on him on a steep hill while drivning it to a friend who needed it for parts.
Thanks for watching me! Would love to add an S or D to the collection. Don’t see many of them around
I started driving tractor when I was four years old and that was the tractor that my dad had. What a beautiful thing to see and hear. Thank you.
I have 2 of those 35s. I saved that one from going to the shredder
Good for you guys. Good tractors deserve care.
I try to save all of them I can!
Powerful little bastards and people love them.
They are very handy tractors. I learned to rake hay on a VAC-14 with a MF wheel rake
The right hand + bottle of gas fuel supply made me happy. Gettin’ it done!
Takes a steady hand to hit that perfect AFR to get it to stay running 😁
The second we got to see how clean the top end was, I knew we were in for a treat!
I was expecting a pile of rust and maybe a stuck valve, was pleasantly surprised to see what was there!
You just can't kill old equipment! It wants to run!
This stuff was built different! Amazing what it can endure and still come back!
Look at those grins after the dust settled! 😂
That’s what it’s really all about
The on-fire dust particles flying out of the open exhaust ports had me giggling 😂. That engine is living its best life, thanks for saving it!
With a little love they usually want to live! Keep following to see what project it lands in!
Canadian truck 390
What’s the difference between a Canadian one and one from the US? Nothing I’d imagine?
Yes it is serviceable those old 390s had a lot of good iron in the them when cast beyond bullet proof! I made a 390 into a 412 for my old truck it would pull a freight train with no top end !! Just keep on pulling and after the turbo it was unlimited best ever made
Thats a base camp not a scrap yard bro
Not my house, cleaning up an old estate in the Appalachia
But is it serviceable?
Stay tuned to find out, I think you’ll be surprised 😎
Once you threw that mag on there she started like nothing. Nice job. She sounded nice. I am excited to see the next one!
Thanks for watching, I’ll do a how to on magneto timing soon
