After reading all the comments ,, I feel way more validated in my opinions about this episode. While Jenna is only human and an insecure one at that ,, it bugs me how she acted with him. Data is a wonderful man , and she just wasn’t the girl for him. Even in the first scene when he shows up with flowers after asking all his friends their advice,, he opens his arms for a hug and she ignores it and steps away. That is clear body language. If a girl doesn’t let you hug her ,, there is a problem. Data, despite his lack of emotion, is kind gentle , intelligent, creative, and completely devoted to those he cares,( see his explanation of friends and relationships,)about. He is also very easy on the eyes. He is not far off from being the perfect Man. I do feel bad for Brent Spinner , the actor who played Data ,, during the show he received tons of love letters from fans ,, Women all over could see how fantastic of a individual that Data was,,, seems only Jenna, could not
I think it would be great to date Data, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that that he would do his best to be the perfect boyfriend. Also he's just an interesting being to be around in general.
This girl totally fumbled the perfect guy. He's curious, non-judgmental, intelligent, successful, and romantic. He is constantly checking in and asking questions. He genuinely wants to be with her. He'll always listen to her boundaries, and he'll never get jealous or cheat. Girl, what a waste. 🙄
But he doesn't experience "romance" the same way humans do. He is capable of simulating romance down to a T, but he doesn't exactly do it out of romance. His dating her would be less of a fulfilling and happy decision and more of an interesting experience to learn from. For some that wouldn’t be important, but as someone who just got out of a relationship where the guy doesn’t reciprocate her feelings, him going through all the motions of a relationship and not really feeling the same way as her wasn't enough.

I don't understand why everybody is so hard on Jenna. I love Data, too, and how much effort he put into this, and think that he needs someone who just accepts his android characteristics, but for heaven's sake, it is completely understandable (I'd say, normal!) that she wants to be together with a man who can love her back. She went in there with false expectations and didn't think it through beforehand. But this doesn't make her a bad person, it's simply human.
False expectations is one thing, but she was in complete denial. She liked him but didn't stop to think that he was an android. If she knew him well enough to have a crush on him, then she'd know how literally he takes things and how unemotional he is. She didn't like _him,_ she liked the _idea_ of him. Regardless, it isn't fair to make demands you know your partner can't meet and then break up with them for it. She knew from day one that he was an android and yet expected him to be a man.

She should just accept his inhuman quirks and enjoy the fact that an attractive android competent in several pleasure techniques is bedding her. Definitely!! It would have added so much to his life and understanding of humanity. The right woman would have added so much to his life! Also, would have been funny if it had happened during the show, as he'd be the ONLY one of the main characters to be currently married. I always thought it was kind of funny that we've already seen more of his family members than some of the other characters.

brendalg4 I was thinking the same during the whole episod ! Data was really putting efforts into the relationship, like dedicating a huge amount of his internal resources to the romantic routine. I think that says a lot about his involvement ! IMHO he would be a fantastic mate to someone who perfectly understands what dating an android encompasses. One shouldn't ask Data something he genuinly can't provide - better stick to what he can provide instead ! That's basically how real relationships IRL work. You should always love your SO for who they are, not what you would like them to be.

I would have thought everyone on the ship would have some knowledge of Data after all he is always saving their lives. She just seems to me like she must be the dumbest woman on the ship. She's got the best mate and can't even figure it out because she is too wrapped up in herself. To me the saddest moment was when he said he would delete the appropriate program. I thought you put all that work into the program, there is a girl out there that will appreciate it.. don't delete it!
part of her issue was she didn't know what she wanted but also expected everything from her boyfriend. she needed to do a lot of inner work becasue she was trying to use men to fill the void of inadequacy she felt.
This is for me one of the most hilarious moments in TV history, beating most comedy TV series. I have laughed to tears rolling my body over the floor.
