The Combs Krewe is a Christian homeschooling family of 9 with a mom, a dad, and children ranging from age 24 down to age 7 (and one grandson!). We hail from the Deep South and acquired our moniker from our time at seminary in New Orleans. Our family is enjoying each every-day adventure as we live out our dreams in the last frontier from the city of Fairbanks, Alaska.
❄️ October Snow Storm in Fairbanks! ❄️
On October 21 and 22nd, portions of Alaska were slammed with a winter storm. Snow and rain caused power outages in our neighborhood overnight in 30 degree weather! Take a walk around our neighborhood with me and Truett as we check out the after affects then build a snowman with Brooklyn.

Cabin Camping in September

This September we spent a weekend in the Chena Lake public access cabin on Chena Hot Springs Road for the second year in a row. This is just a beautiful spot! Though we did get some rain we didn’t let that stop us from geocaching, target practice, hiking, and enjoying marshmallows at the camp fire. Truett and I attended sheep and wool day at Calypso Farm in Fairbanks. Truett got make a spun-wool bracelet and a felted coaster, plus we saw a shearing demonstration and toured the greenhouse and wood shop. Spring Cabin Camping in Alaska~ Moose and the Aurora!

In early April our family went cabin camping in a public use cabin on Chena Hot Springs Road. Not only did we get a great Northern Lights show but we also had a couple of moose drop by. Tanana Lake is fresh water. We are in the interior of Alaska and as far as I know, we aren’t very near any salt water.
