Poor girl: getting tested to death. Big Phama/Medical will test you until your insurance is used up. I suggest that if she is asymptomatic she should avoid them. Eventually they'll overtreat some minor anomaly then have to treat the problems that their testing and "solution" cause. The number 4 killer in America is the medical profession.

I have been pretty good without symptoms of any kind, completely released from my Drs. With the reassurance that my heart is completely healthy, no scar tissue, no blockage, no damage of any type what so ever to my heart tissue. It's a great topic, and very relevant to me and a lot of others. I had a VT episode and was defibbed. Few days later ICD was implanted. Felt pretty good. Then while recovering had a SVT while doing mild/moderate exercise. ICD fired twice. Been sedentary since, lots of anxiety if my HR gets over 110. Appt to discuss an ablation with the doctor soon, but the anxiety about getting shocked weighs heavy on me all the time.

If so, keep in mind that most people who share their experiences are often those with negative ones. This means you're not getting a fully accurate view. ICDs are incredible devices that have done far more good than harm for those who need them. If you haven't listened to the full interview I did with Doug, I highly recommend it. I have an ICD for 2 years now. .Off course I am older, so it is a bit easier to except how it influences my looks. But at 52 my thoughts were: I am (a bit) proud of my scar. Because it shows I had to go through some tough times, and still are...So why shame about it? People are lucking not needing one. And otherwise there are lots of people with different diseases. So dr. Samuel Is right!! I guess he learned it by listening to his patients.

I agree. To me, scars represent the battles you've gone through and overcome. That's why I call this project The Heart Warrior Project. As warriors, we have faced battles and survived them. That's something to be proud of. But again, we are all different as individuals; what means something to one person may not mean the same to another. However, like you, I really liked what Dr. Sears said in the interview about scars. They show wisdom.

My ICD was installed on 2021 due to I went into code blue in the hospital. I received strong shocks...the last one was so f,*** hard it knocked me down and I was like imbalance..then on March of this year , I started to have chest pains, shortens of breath, dizziness and ended up in the hospital Afterwards, I had no control of fainting spells, dizzy spells, shortens of breath. It is so depressing, because you don't know again if you are going to be shocked. The medications were adjusted, and slowly but still going through the fainting spells that comes and unpredictably. Dizzy spells is slowly balancing. Cardiologist had a serious talk about my health challenges. I would need a heart transplant. The constant shocking of the defibrillator causes your heart to get scared and that's is not good. One day at the time..that's all I can do.

I had a heart attack with 3 arteries blocked at 100% including the LAD. I died in my sleep, and when my wife woke up she heard the death growl and I stiffened up. They did CPR and my 5 year old was screaming and said "Jesus don't take my daddy". I coded 7 times, and they pronounced my time of death. I had a lactic acid level of 13. They put me on ECMO and empella devices while I was still laying there with the blockages. I was too sick to have stents, as my platelet levels were at 9. Dr's said even if I survived, I'd need 24 hr care forever. Then they discovered a brain bleed from all my blood thinners. One thing after another went wrong. 2 months in the hospital total including rehab. I got my stents, brain bleed stopped without surgery, beat every odd including no oxygen to my brain for 15 minutes, went back to work 2 weeks after discharge. No complications, no restrictions, healthy 46 year old 😊😊 P. S. Every Dr said I was beyond a miracle. They wrote 'miracle Mike' on my charts and said it was "unprecedented" that I'm alive. I've done fundraising for the hospital, my story attracts many large donors. This was the Lord at work, as I'm a born again believer, He had me in his hands listening to the prayers of my Godly wife.

What is glaringly obvious to me is that I’m not sure I’ve ever heard any patient, really talk about how bad the first few days are. I understand that sometimes in the fog plenty of painkillers. @@heartwarriorproject Hi, I went ahead and cut my hair the other day and had no problems, I didn't notice anything different. I used the wired and rechargeable hair clippers without and problems, of course I didn't hold them right next to the ICD either. I also have been using Klipsch headphones without any effects to my system.

In this short clip from the full Q&A episode of The Heart Warrior Project podcast, I invited board-certified cardiologist Dr. George Adesina. Dr. Adesina and I, Jellis, a cardiac arrest survivor, discuss why there is such a lack of awareness around heart disease compared to cancer, despite heart disease being the number one killer for both men and women globally. If you are interested in listening to the full Q&A episode with Dr. Adesina, where various cardiac arrest survivors sent in questions for me to ask him, you can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/Fg4FbycZVJo/v-deo.htmlsi=npMfrASXDWWFu1Lf ____ 🧡Get Involved - Support The Heart Warrior Project🧡 Note that The Heart Warrior Project is run by one guy, which is yes, me (Jellis Vaes). In between work, studies at university, and just life, I try to squeeze in some time almost every day to work on this project. This project takes a lot of work, as I genuinely want to deliver high-quality and helpful content for survivors here. And I do it with a lot of love every day. However, help is always appreciated. If you have found any insights, lessons, or support from this or any other episode, and you’d like to support the project, we have a couple of ways to do so. We offer some awesome-looking merch, such as T-shirts, hoodies, and mugs, with different designs that I personally love wearing/using myself. If you aren’t interested in any merch but still want to support the project, we also accept donations. You can find more information here: heartwarriorproject.com/getinvolved/

    I’ll pass…. On ICD implementation

Why do you feel you'd rather pass on receiving an ICD?

    • @PeteHob
      @PeteHob 2 місяці тому

@@heartwarriorproject well, besides my medical trauma ( PTSD) I am also n what figures to be the last decade of life and I would rather not live with the fear and anxiety that I’m going to get zapped like that at any time. I still work some and use electrical motor tools, which I understand can induce false zappage. Stay well. Cheers

30 minutes ago. I experienced the first and also second shock in just 10 seconds. I did tell to my doctor that I will run next week he said dont worry no one have reached the 180 beats per minute and yes. I ran and suddenly felt like a car from behind hit me and I turn back . No one behind and that was the ICD which shocked me because it thought that my bit rate is high Im sad cause I thought the ICD will know the situation and high rate is because of the runing not anything else.

why do these doctors think that living outweighs everything? including being able to think! what is the quality of life here? when does that get addressed? 7/16/24

I'd say my doctor cares greaty not alone about the quantity of my life but also the quality of it. How come you are experiencing such a low quality of low?

No thanks, dont care. Unless they talk about transplant prior to its installment, and inappropriate shock? sure, driving down the road, nice! Nope, I ditched this program after all the testing, and then when i saw the next doctor, he said to me " i see you cancelled this proceedure, well it shows hear your borderline , anyways" How many guinea pigs are out there? And really, is this world some wonderful to be living in ? I like the idea of getting out of this twilight zone existence. 7/16/24

I had a SCA late february 2024. Im still struggling with mental fatigue. My occupational therapist say it's like a state of stress. I love my devices, so she want's me to reduce my screentime big time (technostress). Still sick from work and it's getting frustrating.

Have you talked with your cardiologist about possibly making some adjustments to your medication? Medication could cause a lot of mental fatigue too.

I’ve had an ICD since 1993, and it’s fired many times. The last was three times in one day (January 2024). I know it’s coming because of how I feel five seconds before it fires. It’s five seconds of intense panic. A powerful punch in the chest, and a recovery period as you process what just happened. Shocks are awful but they keep me alive until I get a heart transplant.

I do think I was 'lucky' to have had the shock in my sleep as I almost felt nothing. I guess when you are a awake it's a different thing... When is your heart transplant planned?
