You want fishing? I’ll give you fishing!!
A bit about me… after a serious concussion playing rugby that left me unable to play the sport I love, I quickly had to find another passion. Fishing fit that gap.
Nowadays you will catch me developing my skills across multiple disciplines, from freshwater to salt and everything in between. I’m definitely not a master of any one kind of angling.
From fly fishing trout, spearfishing kings, surface for cod, or ultra finesse from a kayak this channel has it all.
Oh yeah, I also managed 2nd in the 2021 Australian Flathead championship, landed a 45lb Mulloway on 6lb leader, spearfished with a great white shark, and camped every weekend for a 6month period 🤣
I’ll see YOU on the next adventure

Been fishing JB for decades. You have to exceeded your bag limit. No wonder they are on the decline.
Hi and thanks for taking time out of your day to watch the video and comment. I don’t usually comment this long but feel there is a few points in your comment that need to be addressed. It’s great to hear you have fished JB for decades, I have heard it has really improved the past 5-10 years after being hit so hard for many years by irresponsible angling in previous generations. In the video I mention the NSW Fish Smart app and that should be used as a quick reference by anglers for rules and regulations on the water. My suggestion to you would be to freshen up on the previous and current regulations around squid fishing. To give you a shortcut on that regulation, an angler is allowed a bag limit of 20 squid. That is the current regulation, but also the regulation at the time of filming this video last year. I certainly did not exceed that bag limit. Further to this, I have found JB to be fishing for squid better than it has for a long time. With plenty of other people also attesting to that observation. I find squid to be a beast that requires changing it up now and again (like most species of fish) maybe what has worked for you in previous seasons needs some refinement. As mentioned in a few of my videos on squid, I am finding a much better hook-up rate on 4lb leader of sometimes up to 3m. I don’t know a lot of people who fish that light for squid, but myself and plenty of the community of fishos that I surround myself swear by this. I hope the squid fishing improves for you soon :)
Thanks for replying bro. That came directly from a fisheries officer long ago. I stand corrected in that area. Though I have 3 boats I sometimes go from Sydney to fish the shore. Before all the shefs glamorized squid I would catch 10 beasts off the shore in an hour. Good I did not have my bad limits correct haha. That’s in the past. Stopped around 5 years ago. My record was 20kg in two hours. Let many go. More for others. On the boat I would have 30-40 surround the boat in Bowen island in the middle of the day. I am 63 and have been fishing there since I was 10. By no chance I am telling you how to fish but Not sure why you keep peddling when on? I also have an ocean hobie canoe but don’t use it much these days. Increases drag on squid especially since you use light leader. Not something I can do on the Rocks. On the boat I use 10lbs. I must have around 200+ squid lures. Yes I am insane. Just a tip. Try using the Gancraft Custom Squid Jigs. Not cheap but deadly on Squid. Red/orange colour in the Australian colour series. Japanese made. I use Yamaha rods for most of my fishing. You mentioned fiberglass. I use only Parabolic blanks for squid. Bends in the middle. Rarely do they come off. Again thanks for the reply. Happy fishing bro. If I see your canoe I will come and say hi.
Up in those old ouster racks I got a 50 cm EP on a 2.5 inch motor oil millows
Sick video man🤙🏼
Thanks mate 🤙
Don't need to run 4lb for squid at all. Gonna take ages to bring the bigger sized ones in.. 8 or 10 is perfect.
I don’t catch big enough ones usually to matter 🤣 hahaha Do you notice a drop in the hook up rate in thicker leader?
Did u get a measurement on the squid? Looks like its 40cm plus absolute monster
I did, the hood went 42cm. Was insane lol
@ unreal Great work!!
A youtube down in vic named "Nevs fishing" catches huge squid down there. Iv seen him catch squid with a 50cm hood! You should take a look.
Wow 😮 I’m going to subscribe to his channel and check it out. Thanks for the heads up
Absolutely awesome Sqid
Cheers mate, pretty big bloke that is for sure
Lads I caught up with psi the other day, today I cleaned up with 40cm hoods x5
Bloody hell mate that is an insane amount of large squid!! Congrats. PSI is recognised more than a Nike tick nowadays haha some of his luck must have rubbed off
@ 1.5 kg
@ that’s hectic mate congrats!I got a 42 myself that will be in a video early this week. They pull very hard at that size don’t they
Nice work Off plantation point?
@@vchevapi189 yeh mate :)

I hear narrabeen lake has got some monster fish. You should come check it out 😝
Hahahaha that sounds like an invite and a plan 🤙🙏
You must be up the top of the river because the current is pretty strong towards the bay do you fish in that current much.
Yeh this was a little up the river but the current and tide do throw me around a bit at times. I haven’t done a whole lot out the front of BB yet, definitely keen to get out and give it a go though
grew up fishing this system, as i get older i realise how lucky i was to.
@@xRaidzy that’s amazing, it’s one of the better places I have fished that’s for sure.
Love it 🎉 I don’t think people realise how hard it is to land fish like this so easily on string as light as a strand of hair
@@TheMeterClub hahaha thats why I love the challenge of it 🙏😅🤣

I think you were right when you said Estuary Perch mate. What spin setup were you using? The trusty old raider didn’t make the cut 😂
@@daneedwards81 thanks for confirming that haha I always find it hard to spot the difference with them Yeh I left my trusty combo at the campsite about 4months ago 😢 I went the vanford 1000 and the hyper 1-3 But the more I use the hyper the more I miss my yak raider.
Just be careful brou, Steve got taken out by getting speared aswell, revenge of the fush brou
Hey mate what’s the best time of year to catch these??
Hey mate, as soon as your hear those locusts it is prime time to get out there. Spring/summer easily the best time.
For the squid are you just trolling the jigs. If so what speed roughly Thanks👍
2-3km/h roughly in this video The goal is to get that jig to move just above the weed bed.
What a spot mate! Great session

Thanks for watching, and the great comment 🤙
Great video and great catch mate ! Very lucky to have trout in Australia one of the best freshwater species hands down definitely need to look after these fish for the future and improve stocking efforts in these areas. 👍🎣
Thanks for such a great comment 🤙
I drove through Berry on my way to our family holiday house for over 20 years, and I always thought there'd be bass around there. Beautiful part of the world.
It’s a great place and there are so many spots like this up and down the coast :)
Was the great white shark in Jervis Bay?
Yup, that razor back is a great spot for tailor & salmon. They are always there in numbers! Great vid
@@TheHonro thanks mate, this was one of my favourite sessions 🤙 looking forward to the next time I get on that kind of school again up there
Hey mate definitely a brown trout, colours vary between the time of year, they’re generally a lot duller in colour after spawning. never personally seen any salmon or brook trout come out of Eucumbene, unlike Jindy they seem to be fairly popular there.
Hi I was in the tinny at the start of your video heading home. I remember seeing you guys. It was a cracker day plenty of salmon busting up the bait! I had a great time catching them too! Tight lines Howie
Look like brown trout, mate.
Cheers Joshie 🤙 I’m pretty happy with that fish then 🤣
we call them speckled trout in canada.

500 subscribers you have 513 now congratulations, I love your video I shared your channel.
Thanks Christina, glad you loved the video and thanks for sharing the channel 🤙
Mate, you are "trolling" not "trawling". Trawling us what fishing trawlers do with nets.
Thanks mate, I appreciate you letting me know. I have often had people tell me the difference but I just keep defaulting back to the lingo we use out bush. I’ll try to get it right in my next video. Thanks for following along
What a shit vid,red mowies and a octopus bet that was hard😂
"I wanna get a lure in that won't catch a fish!" That's a nice problem to have
😂😂😂 it was absolutely insane
Be flooded out now might be a big Jew around times of heavy rain.
There is some serious water movement at the moment. Thanks for the tip about the jewie, would live bait be a good option?
@@waterassassin Yeah jews love live or fresh baits squid yakkas mullet etc but it will always be a waiting game or you could just get lucky.
@@grimreaper6112 thanks mate. I have only ever got my jews on lures, but I have had a lot of people tell me that the fresher the bait the better with them. I really appreciate your advice and I might go out and target them when I can get out next
As a local fella of orange mate awesome video hands down you are so underrated I’ve only just come across your channel but mate well done tough fishing around here these days but a well put together video 🤙🏼
Thanks for a great comment mate, I truely appreciate the support. Agree with Orange fishing tough, particularly trout or natives. Hard to beat fishing some of those creeks though. Thanks again for the positive feedback, it means a lot
I caught a 70cm jewie off the boat ramp at night and have caught a 83 flattie
Congrats mate, there are some great fish around there
Love the mowies 🤙
Gotta love a mowie 🤙
Nice bro, I'm from Brazil, lived about one year on the Gold Coast... beautiful country, nice people.. Ever had any problem with sharks while spear fishing? Surfed a lot there, always crapping myself about sharks
Nice mate, we are really lucky to live here. The Gold Coast would be a great place to be for 12months too. I have had a few ‘issues’ with sharks. A bull shark was my closest one, with it coming in a few times and eventually running off with my float line and all my fish. Most of the time when I see them though they are pretty chill and don’t really take that much notice of me. I reckon in the surf break would be the worst place to be for an attack but I think the odds of it happening are pretty low mate
Some nice Red Mowie's Do you ever go night fishing for squid on your Hobie?
Hahaha yeh the good old Mowies got me out of trouble in this one. I don’t do a lot of night fishing for squid from the Hobie to be honest. I used to do it a bit with my FeelFree Lure 10, with that setup I had lights aiming into the water with waterproof strip lighting. Is that something you do?
I did when I had my Outback, but I sold it a few years back
How good, did you find that you caught more squid at night?
Awesome work guys, I was right into it until the bloody white Noah turned up. I will continue fishing from boat.
Hahaha thanks mate 🤙 they are a big fish
@waterassassin how is it you take the gluten free option when the one person who needs it isn't there 😂, 👍 on the rice tho mate. @ Adam i live with a smile on my face, I just can't enjoy pizza or ice cream haha.

Nice squid fishing. Was that the south side of Plantation Point?
It was a bit all over plantation point mate. There’s great squid fishing all the way back along Orians Beach too
So that's where all me squid have been going during the holiday season,
Haha I have never seen as many squid in the bay as this year. I got 10 in about 5min on Saturday and decided to go for snapper.
