I wanna see someone use a large piston with direct drive and really push something up to speed. In the 10s they sold cars that were better performing than today, just took up to 20 minutes to get started from cold... Some were push to start though by 1920.

it would be interesting to see this with a steam turbine instead. Mainly because then you're less likely to get oil contamination in the water if you use a condenser (you can have all the bearings be outside the steamed area bascially).
