I thought for a minute that my hero Alex Jones from radio and video, was going to play the organ. I'm into classical organ, so oops! I'm on the wrong channel.
Very nice, Alex. Thank you for playing such a nice program .
Kickin' Ben!!
We live in the Niagara Falls area down the street from the Wurlitzer factory. The building is still there and has been renovated into restaurants. Its still a beutiful place.
❤❤Gram talento
Well done, Benny Boy!!
Great job, Ben!
What year was this film made?
A remarkable insight into the sheer scale of this operation, and the working lives of ordinary people at the time. Many thanks for this upload.
Finally after 50 years of looking, I have finally found a theater organist who does a really good job. At least all those organists at Eastman finally found out what was really possible on a Wurlitzer Theater Organ, the Unit Orchestra.
Please help. Nightengale at the 34 minute mark....who wrote it and when. It's haunting me beyond belief. I too just love it! Sigh.
A first-class performance.
Just two comments: he plays superbly on this gorgeous instrument; he talks too much. Oh yes, "Here's that Rainy day" - echos of Lyn Larsen.
I cant tell you how much this brightens up my day! ❤
I like those wooden pedal reeds! 😁❤️
I payed organ for about ten years, and now wish I’d kept on. These guys that play in videos from Rochester and other venues are amazing. Many play their programs from memory. I just realized I said “guys”. I don’t recall seeing any women organists. Why, I wonder?
Thanks for all the extra camera angles! Nothing is greater than the console rising from the pit!
If you look REALLY close, you can see a pink picnic basket JUST STARTING to fall out of his mouth....
What a weird comment!
His husband is immensely proud of him!
Do you know them well? Lucky you!
I’m not sure of the intent of your comment; not complimentary I suspect. Regardless, he is an extremely talented guy.
Sheila & Derek would be stoked ...
How it's possible to manage all these keys?
More keyboards make it easier to have sounds at the ready. Of course almost every pipe combination can be coupled to any manual.
Or goofy, psychotic sound effects (from tremulant use). It still boggles and baffles me how s**t like this: was ever invented, praised, and thought of as a great idea. Some go overboard on that tremulant s**t. It's to a modern ear an electric one with pipes. I could also say, if an opera singer was "an instrument." That's really all this is. That's his real name?
What?...
He has also played the Barr-Fox organ that is in Bandrika Studios. Nathan Barr owns it and had it totally rebuilt by the late Ken Crome, he also built a building especially for the organ.
Kate Smith singing God Bless America!
i love to listen to dave wickerham play the the theater organ he is one of the beat i have heard
I am going to see him in Sarasota on Sunday !!!
53:59 I thought a real string section joined in for a second here
So sad to think, every one of these people have now departed us. Such a loss of skill.
Dave Wickerham is one of less than a dozen true masters of the Theater Organ. And, IMHO, easily in the top 3. Full disclosure: my orbit is fairly small so I don't have a great number of talented performers to compare. Still.... he always, and I mean ALWAYS, excels. Music selection, registrations, delivery....always spot on.
Wonderful
Beautiful ❤
These concerts are growing. Every year. Imso glad that. Glad you were able
hermoso y maravilloso repertorio musical
What a shame the camera wasn't held still. Very slow movements are a must when taking video recordings, otherwise they cause motion sickness and you can't actually see very much.
Agreed. It spoiled an otherwise very interesting subject. Love seeing behind the scenes of these lovely organs.
@@peterking2794 Yes,they are amazing, a true work of art.
Many thanks, but in future with any such videos please pan slowly, not at head turn speed.
Amazing playing and a very jovial fellow too. Great combination
Damn
He's simply the best!
In a word: outstanding. Complete mastery of the instrument and the music.
Bravo
Brilliant performance. what a card.
His opening song, Bojangles of Harlem, my all time favorite “console risers” is virtually impossible to make your own if you have any familiarity with George Wright’s amazing version. Here, David is done such a masterful job of making it his own, and it’s just as good as George. Thank you!
Just finished pt 2 of the Rochester performance. What a thrill and an exciting encore of the saints! Love your energy and especially the nod to your grandparents with the hymns. WTG! We want more!!!!
Outstanding talent! Love the unique perspective and ACCURATE playing on this concert. I’m looking forward to the next one, as well!
Looking forward to hearing your in the future.
You made my day Sir. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Such wonderful arrangements!!
So camp. So wonderful. Such skill and musicality. Bravo!
I guess I’ll start off the comments here with my vote to David as a fresh new voice in the theatre organ world! I’ve been following his video output for awhile now and have been nothing but impressed with his totally original take on the instrument. This concert started off with one of my personal favorite songs “Bojangles Of Harlem”. His choice of selections is just stellar. And yes, I agree about that gorgeous vibraphone! Keep it up David. I can’t wait for your future recordings. If not on CD, hopefully on iTunes. 😉❤️🎶
Jelani is one of the very few artistes who use all of the resources available on the theatre organ to the greatest orchestral effect. From second touch to sostenuto. From Pizzicato coupler to exquisite use of the swell peddle. Then, the wonderful orchestration and registration and musicality. All this and a great instrument, well maintained and tuned. Heaven. Thanks from the UK.
PEDAL!!
Such a great Music talent, and very good looking guy❤
