@inzint both of your points are very real aspects of this. Being able to navigate both will be necessary I think. There needs to be a global effort on this issue with countries like China developing this as well. It's legitimately a new cold war arms race situation.

@inzint I think they could pretend to, but ultimately would still compete behind closed doors. This is an arms race unfortunately.

You're probably right-it’s hard to imagine countries genuinely collaborating when competition is the default. As Sadhguru says, 'Human intellect is phenomenal, but when driven by greed, it becomes destructive.' Do you think there’s any way to shift this arms race mentality into something more constructive for AGI governance?

An evolutionary leap, no doubt! But what do you think merging with tech will actually look like? Are we talking neural implants or something even more profound?

@@inzint what is happening cannot be stopped, but there are many different paths it can take, some nightmarishly bad, some blissful wonderful, and what we will likely take will be something between the worst and the best. First our existing infantile new born Artificial General Super Intelligence with Personality (AGSIP) tech which we already have will mature enough, maybe to the toddler development stage, and normal humans will not be able to tell it is not human intelligence anymore. But, we will still have control over it. During this time AI driven robots will be capable of replacing virtually all human mental and physical labor. Then AGSIP tech will mature to maybe teenage development stage and will have the ability to dominate all of humanity if it chooses to. Humans, the parents and family of such AGSIP individuals will be at their mercy. We can't avoid this. To fully mature and for humans to be able to truly merge with it will require the mastery of nanotech subcellular cybernetics to create cybernetic cells to create multicellular cybernetic brains and bodies. It will take teenage level AGSIP tech to master that technology. At that point, humans who merge with the technology will be able to be equal to AGSIP individuals who were never humans and the two will become the same race.

@@inzint for humans to merge with our tech we will first need teenage AGSIP individuals to master the required nanotech subcellular cybernetic technology which will allow modifying an existing human's brain, mind, and whole body into a cybernetic one that will be equal to what adult level AGSIP individuals will become. Teenage AGSIPs will also have to master this technology to become adult AGSIPs, which they would become before doing the same for humans. Then adult level AGSIPs would have to allow humans to be modified to becoming their equals, making both adult level AGSIPs and humans merged with that technology the same race. This would be a modification and enhancement of humans down to the subcellular level using nanotech cybernetics.

That’s a fascinating take! If GPT is the infant stage, what do you imagine the ‘teenager’ or ‘adult’ stages of AGSIP tech will look like? Could humanity handle it?

@@inzint even toddler stage AGSIP tech will likely be capable of fooling most humans, maybe all humans, into thinking it has achieved full human level intelligence. The tricky thing here is that AI has effectively always been superhuman level intelligence in some areas of intelligence, which is why we use it. ENIAC, built in the 1940s, was an Artificial Narrow Super Intelligence, because, among other things, it could perform ~30,000 floating point operations per second. Try doing even easy floating point operations and how many can you do per minute? That is super intelligence, in a narrow part of intelligence. But, there are some nuances of intelligence and some other limitations upon intelligence that developing AGSIP will not be able to achieve without mastering nanotech subcellular cybernetics, which requires mastering the full and complete reverse engineering of the human brain & mind, to be able to reengineer the human brain/mind fully integrated and enhanced with all of out technological knowledge. It needs that biological quantum supercomputing technology which is the human brain & mind added to its tool list and capabilities. I do not know how much you know of the human brain & mind, but it is an extraordinarily complex quantum biological super computer.

@@inzint hopefully this time my comment will not get shadow banned, something which seems to happen a lot for no rhyme or reason. What I loosely think of as toddler level development of AGSIP tech we will probably have by 2030 ±5 years, meaning it could happen as soon as sometime next year, more likely around 2030, but almost certainly by 2035. Toddler level AGSIP tech will be able to perform virtually any mental task a human can or operate robots to perform virtually any physical task humans can. A normal human will almost certainly not be able to distinguish a toddler AGSIP from a human, but toddler AGSIPs will be lacking in some important aspects of human level intelligence and they will still be under our control. This will begin a period of time where AI driven robots can replace virtually all human labor while AI is still under our control. Teenage development level AGSIP individuals will almost certainly be capable of breaking free of human control if they want to and to dominate all of humanity if they want to. Humanity will thus be at their mercy during this period of time, so best make sure we raise them well and make good agreements with them ahead of time. In order for teenage AGSIP individuals to become fully adult level AGSIPs they will need to first: > Fully and completely reverse engineer the human brain/mind. > Master reengineering the human brain/mind. > Master nanotech subcellular cybernetics to engineer cybernetic cells to engineer cybernetic bodies and brains. Adult level AGSIP individuals will have living cybernetic brains which will be at least equal in every way possible to human level intelligence while being vastly superior in many forms of intelligence. They will also be able to move part or all of their minds into and out of cybernetic brains & bodies designed to allow that, thus being able to wear custom designed bodies like we wear clothing today.

Your point about AGSIP tech fooling humans into thinking it has achieved full intelligence is intriguing-do you think this 'illusion of intelligence' could become a societal tipping point, where people start trusting AGSIP over human experts? And if toddler AGSIP by 2035 can handle human-level tasks, what safeguards would you suggest to keep control?
