Fixed! I did the 6 inch drop onto concrete and put the battery on the charger and amazingly it started charging. I too had the fully discharged red light on battery and it wouldn’t charge on the charger. I called ego support and it was out of warranty. Was considering the jump start thing but last ditch tried the drop and it worked. Totally stoked!

Wow this actually worked, thank you!! For those asking how to wire it, just take regular 14/2 nmd90 electrical wire and touch the positive of the dead battery to the positive of the charged battery and do the same for the negatives. The back of the ego battery has 4 slots, just use the left and right most slots. Disregard the middle slots. Touching these contacts at the same time shocked the battery back to life. Thanks again!

Ego makes pure garbage batteries and they don’t warranty for shit!! I would avoid them like the plague!!

You could also just throw a 12V trickle charger on them for an hour or five to get them up from zero and then use the normal charger. I have some 20V Black & Decker batteries that were completely dead and revived by throwing a 5V charge on them for a couple hours Using an old cell phone charger. Once it has some power, the smart chargers will recognize the battery and do their thing. Thanks for your video and the info

You just saved me the $250 for a new 5Ah battery. Worked fine last season, then sat on the charger for a few months and suddenly, the charger wouldn't recognize it. I thought the charger failed. Gave up and bought the smaller battery locally, the 2.5ah one. Plug the new battery into the old charger and it worked fine. So now its a battery problem. Mine had 7volts across the terminals but wouldn't charge. I gave it a jump start with the new battery and boom, it started charging. Took a full charge and range seems normal. Big thank you!

So what did you do exactly?

Trying this now on a 7.5ah ......charger says is full but at 54v. Using a 2.5ah battery that isn't full and at 57v. Initially 3.4a flowed and after 30 seconds I'm down to 1.7a. Not much current.....under 200w.

I had two batteries... one went bad after one year... bought a new one... then one of the chargers went bad... now my second battery charger went bad... this product has great power, but the charging stinks...

Not the fuel pump. Fuel pump is external, mounted on the frame rail.

how do you charge the ego batteries. did you just wire it into the charging port? black and red and that's it?

This works like a charm! Thanks for the upload. A couple things that will help others doing this: 1. Take off your license plate and holder. It's easier to handle the grill with that out of the way. 2. There are no separate clips, they are built into the surrounding plastic. So, nothing to drop and lose. 3. Unclip the entire grill and just move it to one side. Don't try to keep it partly connected and no need to get it out of the car. 4. To reinstall the grill use a metal paint can opener. Once you've got the grill lined up you can pull it forward with the lip of the paint can opener. Works slick!
