Sanctuary promo: Safe Passage
On our September 2024 edition of Sanctuary, we tell the story of the life and ministry of The Rev. Dr. Walter B. Johnson Jr., who passed away on August 3, 2024. Rev. Johnson was an African Methodist Episcopal pastor who felt the call to organize and implement a walking school bus. Known today as “Safe Passage” this landmark public safety campaign with Chicago Public Schools, employs and deploys an army of orange vest-clad adults helping thousands of children make their way to and from school safely. Profoundly influenced by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1965 work in the Chicago fair housing struggle, Walter Johnson devoted his life to making a faithful difference in Chicago through progressive, social justice activism.
Sanctuary airs in the Chicago area on ABC 7,2, The Localish Network.

So this was a battle between those who believed in the Scriptures with a hermeneutic of BEGINNING with a literal interpretation, and with those who were 'liberal' yet would insist "Yes, I believe the Bible is the Holy Scriptures, but I reject a BEGINNING hermeneutic of a literal interpretation" ? "Yes, I believe the right interpretation of Adam and Eve is that Elvis is alive and we're all dead - THE SKY'S THE LIMIT TO INTERPRETATION - but you can't say I don't believe in the Scriptures and therefore you can't kick me out!"

Politics and faith are two different things to me a religion that is not Biblical based is not for me I Was a Roman Catholic born and raised I noticed that other Religions studied the Bible. When I asked why I was told in the 1950s by a very strict nun because regular people were not smart enough to understand it therefore only a Catholic priest could explain it to us. And to never ask again. Years later I read the Catholic Bible. And found the the Catholic teaching of religion had some major differences. After many years I joined the Episcopal church. But slowly they became less Bible and more WOKE. I found the LCMS they and our pastor are Bible based . If that changes then I will leave

At the congregation I was a member of back then the dispute was portrayed by our pastor as the rantings of a few dissatisfied professors. We didn't realize then that the majority of the teachers left, or rather, were left by the conservative element.. That part at 21:20, when singing a hymn was mentioned? That was "The Church's One Foundation" I talked with two professors who were there, it sounded like a very moving moment.

No. The conservatives stayed. The entire “walk-out” was conducted by the liberals. That is, until after making their show of demonstration, came back to the cafeteria for lunch. The liberal cadre all went and formed the entity that facilitated the merger between the ALC and the LCA, forming the current ELCA

Jews were the first believers in Yeshua because Yeshua had relatives and disciples were Hebrew and the English were among the first because as a youth Joseph of Arimathea brought Yeshua with him to Joseph's tin mine in Europe and the were taught about Yeshuas opinions and thoughts and built a church there with apostles. But Its awesome the teaching also caught on there and Asayrians are teaching Aramaic but there is Hebrew Aramaic that Yeshua spoke and Syrian Aramaic? Like there is USA english and England and Australian and Canadian English.. and so on ;-)

He embraced anyone who would desire to be fed the Gospel. He was crucified as "The King of the Jews". Stood alone, had no army. Died by the efforts of the established heads of the prevailing religious authorities. Hate with a passion had Jesus killed for he brought love. You can believe anything and force it upon everybody when you are backed by an army. The Body of Christ was to be Jesus' Army to give the world the Love of God. Would the Synod hate me? Thanks.

Should I believe what a group of non-LCMS people say about the LCMS? I don't. What heresy were the professors accussed of? This report does not say. Did the professors hold heretical views of Lutheran Christianity? Again, no mention is made of whether they did or not. What percentage of teachers and students left the seminary; what percentage stayed? No facts are given. This is a dishonest report. It is propoganda.

7:58 Gay people are still the Lord's beloved. But it isn't something to 'get over'. It needs to be addressed and repented of. If gay brothers and sisters find it difficult to overcome; they should seek the Lord. Just because we are all sinners you can't just bury what the scriptures forbid us to do. BTW holding up those F*G are going to hell signs on the street is not the way Jesus would approach the situation either. God bless you and I pray that you have a grace filled 2021. On anther note, it is impossible for there to be a Christian left... It directly conflicts against Christian values. If someone has liberal views they need to turn to God and change 'themselves' to obey our Lord's decrees.

Thank you, Your Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Auxiliary Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago for your love of Christ and the truth about all his followers. Also thank you ABC-WLS-TV 7 and GCBM for the presentation of this wonderful educational and informative documentary. Though I am not a representative of any Assyrian organization, I see that it is my duty as an Assyrian American to present my thanksgiving to all of you who were involved in the production and broadcasting of this program. We Assyrians are a very small minority around the world. The voice of the Assyrian people in the Middle East countries, our birthplace and rightful homeland has been muffled and muted by the governments and circumstances. Assyrians have been and still are being raped of our identity and existence; our identity has been forged and today the forces in control have baptized us as Arab-Christians and Kurd-Christians, an advanced western thinking and technique of bloodless genocide of a nation less nation the Assyrians. Those immigrants and invaders from the Arabian desert and from north eastern mountains outside of the Assyrian Empire, after a little over two thousand year have successfully taken our land, our identity, forced us to convert from Christianity and now are attempting to destroy our very existence by giving us a new name, a more conforming name. Thank you again your Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos for boldly announcing the truth of how Christian Churches are silent about this calculated plan to distinguish the most ancient Christians of the world from the Middle East paving a smooth and peaceful way to a legal world wide known modern Genocide of the Assyrians once and for all. I an Assyrian man, silenced by many, thank you Bishiop Demetrios for giving me this opportunity to speak once again and I wish to present a challenge to the American non-denominational churches; God loves you for spreading the truth of salvation to those who have not heard it; God loves and wants you to roll up your sleeves and fight for those ancient Assyrian Christians in the Middle East who are systematically being eradicated daily. For the love of Christ, prove your love for him and to him and his people, the Assyrians. Sincerely, Bardaisan Of Edessa

Very balanced presentation of a very complex mess. So many on TV screaming about what they think but so little real talk from the place where so much of the sad stories come from. Voices from Chicago are very useful. So much of this is big issue based - good and evil - God and Satan. Liberals push God out of our culture, schools, sports, families, friendships, work places - even attempting to push Christmas as a God free zone... Totally Unbelievable! When you remove God's presence, evil is on!!
