05-05-2024 Sermon Before You Go - Senior Sunday
Such a timely reminder of how we may participate in various ways of putting our time, money, and attention to what we value - people, places, and purposes. CFC starts soon, 12/3 is a National Day of Giving, and we've all got gifts to exercise. PS don't forget the loved ones too - simple communication could be a world of difference and preventative maintenance in this emotion-filled time of year. Prayers!
Go sunblock and sunscreen! Plus, alignment of worthwhile values - having biblical ones and living them out one by one. The parts about relationships reminded me of the ease some have when never succumbing to the unfortunate ways of poor values while others seem to shift to any values they encounter. Prayers we choose wisely and live the good ones!
Buckets, boxes, bulging suitcases, and a side of running - oh my! Tis the season to chip in per our values - old, new, borrowed...let's pray we have the right values and vision put in action supporting them per God's plan for each and every one of us.
Praise God for a splendid pep rally for us all to take on our duty to be civil, get the vote out, and not sour at whatever the results may be. Always-always pray for our leaders!
Hi Layla hi miss Jackie it's Emily and I pray that you guys are doing well and remember the Lord is always with us
After a week of many high-highs and low-lows, this sermon reinforced the idea versus reality of being ready. I came across a range of readiness too: being ready for end of life, estate prep, promotions, retirements, holidays, college, and so much. I even thanked God this morning for not having a procrastination issue growing up because the tiny bit is a big booger now. May we use the Bible, His word, to be ready in all the ways we can!
Amen! Another brother in CHRIST! Saw Kevin with TrustCompany on tour with Pappa Roach way back in 2004. Hopefully I’ll catch them live again!
Every little bit more about the Kingdom of God provides that relief, calmness, and ease at what is to come - just like knowing the score to a game you'll watch after the fact. Hope we all grow to accept and look forward to what's ahead!
Honey in the Rock is a beautifully worded song of praise! My heart joins in.. O Christ Be Magnified ..He surely is this day. Completion in the sermon - thank you, John, for shining the spotlight on such a blessing!
My recent devotionals used all three of these parables and it's fascinating to note the timing, but also the multiple meanings each conveys for us in the unsettling truths of self-reflection and hard hits near home. All necessary for our journeys to fulfill our purpose(s). Prayers we see and take the use not offense. 🙏🙏
Will never be apart of the church but I salute this dude and his music. Went to warped tour 01/02? in middle school and saw trustco by accident. They were the best band there that day! I still have the cd and signed poster from it too. Regularly play that album still.
This reminded me so much of the idea, "If everything is a priority, then nothing is." but with a very and rightfully tough stance of either God is or isn't - no room or reason for fence-sitting, ever. Prayers for the lost, wandering, doubting, and undecided to rejoice in and with God!
Days and years pass by so fast. Our time to follow God's plan is really short. Thank you for this message.
Quite a few triggers to prior situations in my life whether a person who kept changing lies (almost as if to see how many times or ways I could forgive) or literal debtors expecting the rest of their debt be forgiven when they started making payments after a long time of zero effort made and then the reality of how debt takes many shapes and forms, but we're all somewhere in the giant debt circle of this life and beyond. At least we all have commonality in being in debt to Jesus - that is the most objectively true and one I pray not to forget or confuse. 🙏🙏
So grateful that this message is available at any time, not just at 11 am. Thank you.
I think the final note captured the largest truth of living - the sweeping struggle to live an authentic Christian life. All pieces, parts, days, times, situations. We have constant judgment of others and are our own worst judge of all. There's what we do and what we don't do. It's never ending, but so is God's love and patience as long as we keep trying and stay in the race - our individual races where the audience is those rooting us on.
Submission and humility seems to get a misconstrued perception in modern times as though it has to be forced, require rough times, or other significant (oftentimes drastic) circumstances rather than voluntary and happy choices to submit and be humble. Prayers we can practice and build in selective submission and humility until it’s healthy habit and lifestyle.
I caught some Steve Harvey videos this weekend that echoed a few points of this sermon - all too timely! Different styles, but some of the big themes were triggers for me - words and actions not aligning, how we’ll lie (pick your type or color of lies), cheat, deny, yell at others, and wrestle with so much rather than come around to a faithful relationship with Jesus first; and all the heartache and pain of relationship journeys with fragile or finicky faith. I’m saving this roadkill analogy 😊 Prayers we have strong, sincere, firm, faith in the right: Jesus. PS Congrats on 38 years!!
Multiple spotlights on the reasons why I stay tuned to Centerpoint for well over a decade and continue to recommend it so often - authenticity, welcoming, and not playing favorites. This sermon also reminded me of recent readings about closed and open adoption, retailers and appearance rules, plus the way we individually get in our own heads. All this can put up unnecessary and disadvantageous barriers. Praying we reconsider how we may be playing favorites and inviting disadvantage more so than advantage.
The title alone had me eager to listen since it's words we say, write, and even don't let out that can be so powerful in positive and negative ways. Great sermon with some new scripture to add to my reminders of what I choose to share, refine before sharing, or deem something to work on never coming to mind for risk of the damage it may cause.
Trials and temptations seem so often tricky, hard, deceptive, and even insurmountable. Thank you for the examples and prayers because worldwide athletes know what we can remember more often: practice builds our muscle to make the hard things easy. 🎉
A prayer and thanks for all who take their time and the gifts/blessings they’ve been given from God to help, mentor, and guide others in ways both large and small; loudly or subtlety. 🙏
Creepy, impeccable timing to have this series and subject pairing match with some personal significant events of late! It's a re- or even re-re-watch worthy contribution to my thoughts on males, boys, men, masculinity, and more. I'm looking forward to the learning but also understanding in order to help with those we've got in our lives. Praying for both and more in this seasons series.
Thank you Centerpoint Church for posting this powerful livestream! We worshiped from our living room tonight! ❤
This sermon answered some of the aging and new questions I've developed about spiritual gifts and their fit, form, function, and even the finicky nature they may have until we're better at accepting, giving, and sharing in the love. Praying we all look out for the spiritual gifts of our own and others so we can best use them rather than watch a clock or waste time.
Crafty use of the construction scenario for the way of work for love! Some parts of love's definition are easier than others to be and practice, see, believe, and even receive. This sermon reminded me of the work love is too - not some puddle we fall into, day dream to turn on or off, one-way street of doing for others with no return or expecting a return, and so on. It is unconditional like Jesus love in words and actions.
Beautiful meaningful lyrics, Honey in the Rock (name?)
Katherine is amazing!
I was homeless, did drugs, went into prison, where I got to know God. He changed my life. Now I have a home, a wife and a lovely year old daughter (zoe), and a stream of income that gats me $47,000 weekly. Plus a new identity - a child of God, Hallelujah!!!🇺🇲❣️♥️❤️
Excuse me for real?,how is that possible I have struggling financially, how was that possible?
@@TimothyRichard-gb5xoThanks to Kate Elizabeth Becherer
I always appreciate God for his kindness upon my life
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Kate Elizabeth Becherer) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her 😊 from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺
I have heard a lot of wonderful things about Kate Elizabeth Becherer on the news but didn't believe it until now. I'm definitely trying her out
Glad for what we've covered so far in the 5Ws of God's gifts as it's leaving me wondering how to determine if there can be more than one (I think so) but more too. Do the gifts come and go, alternate in strength or season, etc. Very thankful also for the reminder of giving with our gifts - it is better to give than to receive and we're all interconnected 🙏🌍
Loving the theme, but I've also been looking forward to learning more about gifts and the whole practice of identifying them and then sharing them. Lots of reflection opportunities and trial and error ahead, I'd say. Let's get to gifting 🎁 🙏
Great series, thank you. Makes me recall one of my favorite Mark 9:23-24.🙏
Bonuses rock - always open to a bonus, extra, cherry on top when it's like this. Many thanks for the complete, full story of Joseph. Plenty of providential and purposeful twists, turns, and tides coming and going like a waterpark's more and less enjoyable rides. We've clearly got to accept the good and bad (or however we see it in the moment) to eventually grasp God's gift(s). 🙏🤲
Hi this is Emily hooks and I hope all of you are doing ok and I hope darcy's house is ok in August
Even with all his power and control, it’s stunning how much God must’ve driven Joseph to pull off such tests of his brothers before the big reveal. It’s never enjoyable to deal with people we’d rather avoid, ignore, or pretend didn’t exist so I’m reminded of the power we can find from God to fulfill His plan and purpose for us despite the dips of the roller coaster we call life. If this story were a modern movie, I think we all agree it could be a Mission Impossible type franchise of many movies. Of course, Hollywood woud likely fall short ;)
Impeccable timing and points in this story compared to the holiday - excellent! I find my father’s gone from one mentality and view of the world to a completely different one over the decades. However, as King David wrote (my paraphrasing) - we can choose how to live, fear or faith. No easy choice or follow-on actions, but our choice nonetheless. Praying you all have/had a fabulous father’s day and live and act in faith!
I'm betting we're all thankful for the Bible as compared to being left to interpret our dreams. I speak from a recent bout of truly oddball dreams, nightmares, and other sorts of odd fragments of events experienced in my sleep. I’m also in the shared boat of many in being able to look back in aw at the amazing timing of God and His plans. Thank you, God, for always having something, someone, some place, some timing much better than I could’ve dare fathom! Looking forward to the wrap up of Joseph's story while always left wondering what else he may have though to keep the faith strong rather than feeling crazy.
this is awesome man 🎉🎉🎉
Some of these sermons are reminding me how much the stories of Job and Joseph are alike when it comes to relative highs and lows, God's preparing us, and how long yet short life is. However, our purposes remain so specific and critical beyond what we can fathom from our precious points in time. Prayers for us all to have a safe and smooth start to summer, but also use it to our best serving God's purposes.
This church is a pit of vipers, liars and greedy villains. The apostate church.
This is such a better story when segmented and spread out to capture the points, time, people, and God's plan at play. Like life, it's got fast events, but plenty is also seemingly slow and a giant evolution of events in His time. Enjoying and eagerly awaiting the next part! Prayers for a safe and sunny summer kick-off to all!
This sermon reminded me so much of a recent blip I saw where a pastor type religious leader was explaining how every single thing whether we see it as good, bad, great, terrible, and all that rests between those points happens for purposes of fulfilling His plans for us as individuals and His macro level plan. It was a powerful and blunt rendition of providence. Great timing…His timing.
TC, one of the best alternative metal all times
The music was shaking the walls today!!
I'm a fan of these pre-sermon shorts of sorts. This one actress is so spot-on over the years, every time! Mother’s day reminds me of what I see another comment here does too - moms are human too. No one is perfect so praise the positive and use any negative for fuel replicating the positive and in how you'll fill gaps for self and others. Prayers for all the mothers out there - formal, informal, official, unofficial, temporary, permanent, honorary, multiple times over or only once, and all other ways we can serve in the role regardless of anatomy.
My mom kept me from my dad so she could sleep around and then blamed my dad and played victim
The stream being 2+ hours long made me panic and think I missed some secret set after everyone left.
A fantastic five reminder set - quite handy of we use that to help remember these five as assigned to each finger! Thanks for using selections that transcend the time for seniors since each one easily applies to anyone at many points in life. May is already here and some people are caught, catching up, leaned too far, etc. Good point to level set, pray, focus before we go farther.
I’m enlightened and encouraged with this connection of boundaries to forgiveness and reconciliation. Of course, fear and guilt too, but the parts of forgiveness and reconciliation in particular resonate since I’ve definitely been guilty of something happening and then allowing it to become a new benchmark of how bad a situation can get rather than resuming boundaries or creating boundaries from the situation. I’ve felt like lines drawn in the sand and the other person was mocking the boundary or seeing my forgiveness and reconciliation as encouragement of how much worse things could get while I’d keep tolerating it. On a totally different note - I watched a grandmother today with an out-of-control meltdown mode young grandson at the grocery store causing a lengthy scene. I pondered how she may be responsible for half of how he’s acting. Praying she instills better boundaries with this generation than her children, to include forgiveness and reconciliation.
Pure lesson from God... Time is so right!
