    You are correct sir. It is a simple reading mistake. Accuracy in the dissemination of historical facts is vitally important. Without it, history is changed, and that does not serve us well. The history of the fascinating story of B & C must be accurate. Small errors, such as we are discussing, require to be pointed out. We owe that, in no small part at least, to Bonnie.

    the hit of them came directly from President Roosevelt himself. they were there to kill them period! there is just as many shots on Clyde's door as Bonnie's windshield. • @gregrickard-x7r
    @gregrickard-x7r 18 днів тому

    We have to keep in mind that the posse could only go on the information available to them at that time: newspaper accounts, known murders of peace officers and innocent civilians, photographs of the gang (including Bonnie) gleefully posing with firearms, magazine articles that featured blood-filled accounts of the pair's crimes (real or imagined), etc. Moreover, lawmen were acutely aware that Bonnie and Clyde had made up their minds to go out shooting; surrender was NOT an option. The ambush lasted mere seconds---the posse would not have had the time to assimilate that Clyde had been killed by Oakley's first bullets---likely fired prematurely due to nerves. As the car began rolling forward---downhill NOT uphill---it's a pretty safe bet that most of the officers believed that somehow, some way Clyde's legendary luck and driving skills had once again kicked in. Was it overkill? Sure it was. Did the posse have an axe to grind? No question about it. Was there an inordinate number of bullets focused on Bonnie's side of the car? Just take a look at the portion of the windshield directly in front of where she'd been sitting. But any viewpoint reaching beyond the known facts---at least for right now---can only be based on theory or supposition. Good, thoughtful video, Bart.

    Henry Methvin shot the two cops on Easter Sunday. Bonnie never actually killed anyone, she mostly waited in the car. She would fire at someone to save Clyde no doubt. Mr. Methvin (not Melvin) was not on the road talking to Bonnie and Clyde (he was tied to a tree against his will, behind the posse. Bonnie could have been eating her sandwich, or did she put her hand up at some point, Notice the windshield on her side of the car is all shot up. Why?

  • @plymouthduster225
    @plymouthduster225 19 днів тому

    Interesting video, i dont think that Bonnie ever killed anyone personally but she made it pretty clear to everyone that she was staying with Clyde until the end, if you watch interviews with Boots Hinton after the first shot that killed Clyde his foot slipped off the clutch and since the car was in first gear it began to move making everyone think they were getting away again, i think thats when everyone opened up on them. They Barrow gang was responsible for 13 murders, 9 police officers and 4 citizens. Bonnie went through all that with Clyde, she was going to leave his side. Maybe the ambush could have been handled differently where Bonnie could have lived, but after 13 murders I imagine that law enforcement and FBI wanted them gone. The lawmen did what they had to do, I have been to the Stringtown Oklahoma shootout site, the man Clyde or his buddies killed there left behind a wife and 2 young kids and also their was the man who was shot on Christmas Eve in Temple Texas just for trying to keep his car from being stolen and this happened as his wife and 2 kids watched from the window.

    I can't help but wonder if Ted Hinton was one of the people that had fired so many shots at Bonnie while she was in the death car. I also can't help but wonder if he did it because he had long harbored bad feelings towards her, for her rejecting him.

      The official story of what happened during the Ambush is not true. If you watch the re-Enactment video that Ted Hinton and Bob Alcorn made 3 days later. They were standing halfway up the hill. Not at the top of the hill. And there is no way a car can roll 50 yards or so uphill unless someone was giving it gas.

    This is the first time I’ve listened to someone else’s opinion, that mirrored my own. I always felt like Bonnie was purposefully villainized, in order to kill her, without being judged. I’ve always believed that they wanted to kill her, as revenge, and to make an example out of her. One thing I know, and you can find incidences throughout US history of this. If U.S. law, or U.S. government, wants to make someone, or a group of people, to look like the bad guys, like criminals, there is nobody in the world better at it. The U.S. government could’ve made Mother Theresa look like a serial killer , if she had gotten on their bad side.
