Not in the stage version. In the movie Cassie sings this implying it is about her personal sacrifice to impress Zach. In the stage version Diana sings this as an ode for all performers, the hard work pain and sacrifice they make for their art. Either way it is one of the best anthems in all of musical history in my opinion.

She could definately work on in more but she had really good emotion. It wasn't cheesy, she good a good job of acting and overall, I am pleased. I usually don't see very good performances of this song, especially since she's young and she could easily completely ruin it.
