I should have just sent it on my #CT125 but instead I got stuck 😱
This time out adventuring on my #hondact125 I managed to get stuck in the middle of the river! ... and that is why sometimes, you just have to send it!

A must-visit for trampers! The track starts at the car park, leading you from farmland into beech tree forest and then up she goes! The track is well-formed, zigzagging it's way up 650m over about 6KM to the hut and epic views over Hawke's Bay. Challenging enough, but still achievible for most, making this hike ideal for families.
Thailand Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Bangkok is a Tourist Trap but is worth a visit!

Short answer is YES, it really is a tourist trap but then going super fast on the water made it worth it [maybe]. You sit on an open boat with a big motor out back and you are delivered to various Market Stalls along the river before being whisked away at terrifying speeds along the various channels back to the start. We found it very hard to say no to purchasing more magnets, ointments and stu...

Definately a beautiful place to adventure in 😁
Are those people freaking CRAZY?
@nassauguy48 It was not a comfortable feeling and our heart rate did peak a bit! The handlers said we would be fine ... gotta believe in something I guess lol 😆
"All the better to EAT you with, my dear!"
JCBro2014 We would just be a snack! It is hard for the brain to process how big these cats are when you see them for real ... big cats have huge teeth and this one was a little grumpy because apparently it wanted a swim ... "Let it bloody swim then", I told the handler ... duh! 😁
Yeah, that's just a nightmare waiting to happen.
@HTHAMMACK1 It certainly felt like it too! Amazing to see these big cats up close .... once! 😁
Can you tell me what you and your passengers weights are ?
@georgebella6878 hi there... we are roughly a 150kg (330 Pound) package deal and I'm a cuddly 2/3 of that "situation" 🤣
@@AdventuringNZ Haiii, About the same ratio as my wife and I , 95kg + 45kg. Really thinking about the KTM 390, as an expat living in Indonesia, very hard to get any bike here more than a 125. lol I see alot of KTM 390s for sale so i think i am going to get one, now i see you guys have no issues with the suspension.. Cheers pal..
This video was so inspiring guys!!! Well done Juliet. We just bought a 390 Adventure for my wife and it has a lowering kit installed so we're starting the exact same journey to get her confident on the bike, can't wait to get out there and adventure😀 Maybe we'll see you guys at some point on our travels. safe riding guys.👍
@irock5758 thanks for the praise and good on your wife for getting into riding. We haven't had much time to make progress recently but there islight at the end of the tunnel so Juliet will be into it again. What part of the world are you?
Looks a lot tougher than I thought it was. Glad you paved the way for me to plan my run :)
And when we did it, the road was said to be in great shape". I'd recommend checking in with Adventure Riding New Zealand Facebook page for the latest conditions. Someone in the group will know 😃
Hello, Thanks for the video! I'm about to buy one to ride 2 up around the Alpes. My main concern is the comfort. First, is the engine smooth enough when crusing at low pace and second does your wife enjoy the rear seat position en comfort? Thanks, have a good safe ride
Glad you enjoyed the video and I bet you are super excited to get going on yours. As for smoothness of the engine, it's really smooth and especially now I have put a 14 tooth sprocket on she cruises along beautifully at low speed without compromising highway speeds. My wife says the pillion seat is more comfortable than our GS800 was. Hope this is helpful. I love this bike 😁
@@AdventuringNZ thanks a lot. Yes I test ride it and really enjoy the engine and the frame behaviour. I'm glade the low revs does not bother you as much and you got around to it. There is still a drawback that others report it's the heat coming from the engine. Is this something that somtimes get on your nerves or that you can live with? Thanks
@lewiss66 The heat thing some people whinge about is not a big deal for me in our climate, and I have only really noticed it when sationary after sustained highway speeds. I do choose my lighter summer socks when warm day riding as I have Mid-calf-length SIDI Adventure boots ... which get hot anyways. Some say the CAT Delete kit helps with the heat and I'm going to get the dealer to do that next service - while they have the skidplate off - just because I also hear it makes a little more power and makes the stock muffler sound better.
@@AdventuringNZ Yes, you raised a point . The decat will help. It's what I did on my G650Xcountry for adv prep. Other than that others told me that this engine has a high compression ratio (13.5 : 1) compared with other bikes like the transalp (11:1) for ex. (But the 750 has some bad design like its a pain to replace the air filter ans don't like the frame) So that compression ratio would make it run hotter I guess. As long as you ride it slow that would not impact too much in summer. There is the 990 ktm coming with a bigger engine oil tank that could lower the eat a bit but don't expect much reduction in compression ratio. It's a KTM ready to race!
Great clip, well done 😊👍👍👍
@markuspannagger386 .. many thanks! 😀
Adventure riding in NZ is coming pretty high on my list of things to-do 👌
@tractorfactor660 .. it is a great place to ride. We are hoping to get down to the South Island soonish ourselves. That's where the real andventuring starts ... well, that's what the "mainlanders" say 😉
How was the passenger seat for comfort?
@genelovisone1880 - Comfort was not an issue with regard to "seat hardness" but it would be fare to say that there is limited room to spare - and we banged helmets more than usual - because I'm not the smallest guy. We felt that for short adventures and exploring, no problem at all. For a long day out, Juliet would need quite a few rest stops. Definately not a show stopper! Hope this helps 😀
Good to know that worked for her. Did you use the KTM Lowering Kit that lowers it by 25mm or some other method?
@b00tysauce Thanks for commenting. We used the KTM Lowering Kit and had the shop fit it.
Nice ride bro👍
@HighlandFace94 Thanks!
Spectacular ride, it's amazing what these little bikes will do. Great photography, thanks for sharing.
@danielpredsox Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It really does surprise me how capable they are! .. and fun! 😎
Outstanding
@MrWhitelightning73 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😀
Well, can't expect more from a 125cc bike.
True. I was actually very happy with it. I had no idea the speedo had 3 digits 🙃
I moved to the 390 from a 1190 Adventure R, I went through the reasons why in one of my recent videos, but weight was one reason & no regrets so far 👍🏻
I've recently moved to the KTM890 Adventure as my wife has taken over my 390. That is my story and I'm sticking to it lol. We needed a 2UP bike in the family and I really have enjoyed the KTM, so Bye Bye GS and hello 890 😀 also no regrets so far.
@@AdventuringNZ The 890 is too big for you.
@kalnwi2023 It's fine thanks.
Hello from Canada! Just wondering how you find that bike in the loose rock/gravel? I have a CRF250L and it's pretty squirrely in that stuff. Really like the KTM 390 Adventure and they're on sale at my local shop. Thinking of getting one. By the way, beautiful countryside! I hope to get there someday soon.
@CatDad1971 Thanks for commenting and yes we are lucky to live where we do. Loose rock and gravel doesn't seem to be a problem. We've gone 2UP up some quite difficult tracks and all good. The great thing about this bike is you can go highway speeds all day long and then ride up some rough stuff as well. We've been to BC Canada and loved - can't wait to go back! Happy riding 😀
is it too heavy to the engine to keep it 100km/hrs?
I cruise on the flat at around 85-90km/hr depending on the wind. For me, it will not hold 100km/hr unless it is a pretty steep hill 😀
@@AdventuringNZ Thank you for the info!
Those little Hondas look like fun! How are the KTMs doing? My KTM 390 is in the shop being lowered like Juliet’s. My husband just bought the KTM 890 Adventure just like yours but hasn’t picked it up yet, getting some parts put on it at the shop. ☺️ Nice trail to ride on!
@LenaScott-numoto1 The little CT125s are great fun exploring bikes and supper fun to ride. Helps Juliet build up her motorbike confidence too. Her lowered 390 is much easier to reach the ground now and we've taken it out for another park ride (video coming soon 😉) but somedays it just feels like a postie bike day LOL! My 890 has just been in for it's 1000km service and I've added a bit more bling. Love the bike .. haven't really filmed it yet as I'm just enjoying the ride too much. Thanks for commenting! 😀
That’s fantastic! I understand about building more confidence too, I have a dual sport, a Yamaha XT-250 to help me build my confidence up as well. It would be so much fun to have a couple of those little CT125s too 😂. My husband can’t wait to get his 890, he also has a 390 as well. Your videos are fun, look forward to more of them 😊
Hi, can I ask what set up you have for your GoPro microphone, chin mount and camera? Great videos, great sound and great fun! I`m down in Hawkes bay and waiting until may for my ct125 to turn up 😊 I can’t wait!! Your videos are satisfying my ct needs so thank you for that.
@EvoRidess hey thanks for commenting. We're down in Central HB. I have a GoPro 10 and a GoPro11 atm which are mounted with a @chinmounts.com for my LS2 lid and @motomounts.co.nz one for my Shoei. The mic audio is a Purple Panda Lavaila Kit from Amazon. I have heard the GoPro12 will bluetooth to cardo intercom ... don't quote me on that as it may just be just my wishful thinking lol. The other thing you need is the Gopro Media mod kit so you can get the audio out from the GroPro mic. You can also plug in an external USB power source. The mod kit is pretty useful off the helmet too as the mic is quite good. Only downside is the media mod kit is it not waterproof and it does seem to drain the battery quicker than without it We love exploring on our CTs ... we might even cross paths being "East Costers" too 😁
@@AdventuringNZ I’ll make a few purchases this week! Thanks for the recommendations 👌🏻 if you ever venture down to Hastings/napier way let me know and we could maybe find a nice trail around the back of the bay! I’ll keep you posted when the the CT arrives, should be mid/end of May when they arrive 🙂 really looking forward to some winter fun and mud!
How are the vibes for you? Mine has a lot i really considered selling because of them but I think it's gotten better after breakin
@arcadegamesify The vibrations never really bothered me as I rolled her out on TKC80s from the get go for more off road adventuring, so I expected to feel the road. Still felt fine for some longer rides I did on Tarmac and unsealled roads. I'm on the heavy side so maybe I soaked up the bumps somewhat LOL! It's now the wife's bike and as she is low speed learning on side roads etc so not really noticable for her [yet] either.
Love that these ladies are riding a KTM 390 Adventure. I have one also and am vertically challenged. I tried riding it with sliding off to the side and putting one foot on the ground when stopping, ugh, pretty nerve racking and scary so I’m going to have mine lowered too. How tall is Juliet and Ella? Thanks, looks like so much fun!
@LenaScott-numoto1 Thanks for your positive comments. Juliet is 5 Foot 4 inches (163cm) and has found lowering the 390 did make help alot! Ella is about the same height and has now decided to lower her one too. We also put in a 14 tooth sprocket on the front of Juliet's so it would chug along at lower speeds better. A great all round bike for sure 😀
You guys still have your CT's?
Sure do! They are probably feeling a bit neglected atm but still very much a part of the "family" 😆
@@AdventuringNZ I'll let you know when we head over to Clements Mill. I'm keen to spend a day exploring. 🙂
JetboilStoves are fantastic!!! We have one with a coffee press, wonderful!!! Perfect for Moto camping or any kind of camping or picnic!
We had heard that they were good but had no idea just how good until we got one. Thanks for commenting 🙂
Enjoy!
That's a great way to learn, away from traffic and getting much more feel for balance, braking and accelerating. The lady with the black jacket and white helmet looks really good on the bike, like she's been riding a while. Cool video.
@Hutchie211 Let me tell you about the lady with the white helmet. She happens to be my wife, Juliet. Now, don't let her small stature fool you, because she recently took my KTM 390 without any hesitation, which led me to buy another KTM just so I could continue to ride. That's the story I'm sticking to! 😉 But in all seriousness, your positive comments not only made her smile but also boosted her confidence. So, I want to extend my gratitude to you, kind sir!
@@AdventuringNZ Phew, glad I was complimentary then. The wee ktm is a brilliant bike, far better than any of the competiitors in the smaller cc adv market.
@AdventuringNZ What tires is she running on the 390?
@rzritis they are Continental TKC 80s - put them when we rolled the bike out of the dealership 😀
Red band gumboots and a helmet. Next time just wear your Jandels!
But then my Kevlar-lined jeans might get caught in the chain 😉
Good video and challenging day. Nice editing. Subbed
@banditoo7 Thanks Tony! Learning on all fronts as I go .. appreciate your comments 😎
Awesome video guys!
@ianrobinson9792 Thanks Ian - was quite surprised I managed to film what I did in that weather.
Nice ride boys. I grew up in the arrear Fkn cold alright Wake up do some feeding out then off on the school bus then walk the rest of the way, by the time we got to school we were frozen solid. Been away for a long time but plan on doing it over winter to see some family. Ive got a DRZ 400 sm so hope my road tires will do me right. Thanks for the post
@pucknhusker9426 Thanks for commenting! That side of the hill is always great to explor. We were surprised about the history of Ohura etc. Never realised it was such a hive of activity in it's day :-D
Like girls, full throttle next time :)
Haha. My passenger would have punched my kidney to a pulp 🙃
I love kTm😁
@jonomasonILoveU Don't we all LOL!
@@AdventuringNZ yep I was looking at trading my 22 390Duke on the new 24 390 sw, what do think about the new model?
If we need to 😂
@mattbarker3789 YES! We need to .. found some new local CT125 attractions to share soon too ... thanks for commenting 😀
stock gearing?
@meuhey Yes she is as standard as she comes in that regard and only travelled 800km total all up so far. We usually cruise on the flat, between 85 and 90-ish km/hr and are heavily impacted by the slope of the hill and the direction of the wind... but so much fun 😀
I own one as well. And I have completed almost 20,000 kms on it now. At first when I bought it I thought it was only good for gravel or light off roading on the factory tyres but actually its quite a capable bike on the highway as well. I can keep up with most of the vehicles on the road. A very big thumbs up to ktm for such a beautiful machine. Enjoy it brother 👍
@christopherjongte865 Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am definately enjoying it and I'm also finding it perfectly capable on the tarseal roads as well as shingle. We even had a 60KM 2UP outing a few days ago day - with my Wife on back - and it felt like it wasn't too bad at all.
great video just picked up new 390 myself.. What revs did you keep below during the first thousand kms. Subscribed
@wildflower7574 I just kept an eye on the Rev Meter and when I saw it flash during the run-in period, I just buttoned off. Was not a big deal as I had no intension of thrashing it to death. Thanks fro dropping a comment. Hope you get as much fun outta yours as I do outta mine 😀
Ok, so it's a bit wet, but think of how much fun it's going to be!!!!!👌
Was one of the best days out on the GS we have had. We live about 1hr south of there and I had never been on 90% of the roads we covered. Love it wet or dry 😎
Seat is dam hard.
@tomg6284 My butt-skin must be pretty thick as it doesn't bother me at all LOL
I have to say you are way more patient than me. Me, riding with a bird, would lose it in no time. That bike has ONLY 4 gears, not going above 2nd would make me go insane really fast. Stop, wait, continue, stop again, wait more, continue, repeat... Not for me. Rather ride on my own.
@zefautino We love exploring on our bikes together. No trouble at all to spend a relaxing day putting around on our CT125s together. That's why we bought them 😀
Glad to see you’re enjoying it! I’ve had mine for just about a year. Love it, I’m just now starting to test it’s limits on hill climbs and harder terrain. It’s fully capable, only matter of my skill level improving. Thanks for the video, keep it up!
@advinjapan Thanks for commenting ... great motivation to make some more. Busy busy atm but I too am looking at testing my KTM390's limits soon as poss. Definately a great machine to improve skills on. I'm positive it's helping me get better every ride.
Which country is this?😳
It is in the north island of New Zealand.
Привет. Тоже недавно купил КТМ 390 adventure но у нас зима и -30 сейчас буду ждать май чтобы прокатиться)
That is a very cold temperature and you have a long wait before you can ride your new bike. We can ride all year in New Zealand.
Send it EH!
As hard as she'd go! LOL!
The booby sign 😂. Love my KTM390 as well, cheers!
@advjapan9849 .. haha! Love that sign. Thanks for commenting
just bought one and looking for people to ride im in lower hutt area
@curtispaull8743 .. Hey hope you find as much joy riding it as I do ... try joining the Adventure Riding New Zealand facebook group if you haven't already: facebook.com/groups/AdventureRidingNZ I often see wellington rider/ride posts there. Really really good group to follow for when I can't get out and ride as much as I want myself.
Just picked mine up, it’s my 2nd. Had a few bikes in between, but mine will be used for commuting and small road tours… I’ll be buying one of the 690’s or 890’s for the off road stuff;)
@martyng9379 Good on you! My Brother N Law has a 890 and has ridden my 390. He found it a great fun little ride 😀. I'm keeping the GS800Adventure for 2 up touring but when I'm on my own, I think it'll be the KTM390 all day long!
How many miles did you have during this video? You're busting 6k and you shouldn't have the whole rev range available until ~600 miles ... or is that just a U.S. thing? I have a 2020 and love it. My Harley is seeing less and less usage as time goes by. ;) S
@sdefiel3719 I only had a couple of hundred KMs on the bike for this video. To me it seemed like the Rev Indicator just flashed (a warning) if I over reved but didn'y actually "rev limit". Soon as the service light came on the Rev Indicator stopped flashing when revs exceeded 6K.
I have the 21 Duke 390. Great bike but the seat is a bum killer after about sixty km. But it's a joy machine.
@c.a.marsupial.1282 LOL! Cycle Shorts might do the trick [Jokes] The 390 adventure's seat is not a problem for me but I do have a wee bit of extra padding 😀
Air Hawk inflatable seat pad.
Want.
@SVSky Perfect timing to ask Father (or Mother) Christmas! These are such a fun bike. I use mine almost daily to get groceries but they might not quite give you the same andrenaline fix that hang gliding does 😉
I used Google Translate so I hope this makes sense 😎
