Ozzie Nomads
Приєднався 23 лип 2021
We have travelled more than 50 countries and counting. My husband and I have swapped the working grind for a travelling lifestyle to explore the world, cultures and people. Our 'freelancing' life is going to explore some of the less travelled parts of the world, exploring the tourist traps, yes, but focussing on connecting with the essence of different cultures and living life as a local. Our aim is to enjoy a simple life, check out the great sights and also explore the less travelled path. We are not expats, but rather we are 'slow travelling' looking for locations that we could live in for three months when it is time for us to slow down and retire. For more details of our travels visit www.travelturtles.net.
Ozzie Nomads Living in Istanbul
We spent three weeks living on the European side of Istanbul in January 2024 exploring our local area, the sights and mastering the public transport system. It's a great city where we felt safe and welcomed as we got to know our local cafes and supermarkets. It's a city we would definitely go back to, but we would stay on the Asian side rather than the European side next time we go.

Goreme, Cappadocia, Turkiye
Переглядів 11211 місяців тому
Goreme is a small town in the Cappadocia (Kapadokya) area in central Turkiye (Turkey). The region is a fascinating landscape of fairy chimneys, which are the result of millions of years of volcanic activity. The scenery is beautiful, and adventure seekers will be satisfied as there is so much to do, from hot air balloons, 4WD, buggy and quad bikes, horse riding and for the less adventurous, goo...

We spent a month in Antalya from mid-December to mid-January. This is a beautiful city with something for everyone and glorious winter weather. We explored the city, the beaches and some of the surrounding areas to discover spectacular scenery and incredible archaeological sites. We think we have found our northern winter home. It's safe, beautiful and affordable.

We travelled to Egypt in November 2023 despite concerns regarding the conflict in Gaza. This is a bucket list destination and we felt safe as we explored Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada, and the awe inspiring archaeological sites - Pyramids of Giza; Karnak; Luxor Temple; Valley of the Kings.
The Wonders of Jordan

We explored Jordan in December 2023 despite friends and family expressing concerns about the conflict in Gaza. We explored Amman, Petra (Wadi Musa), Wadi Rum, Aqaba and played in the Dead Sea. We felt safe and fell in love with the culture, history and people of Jordan. The Jordanians are incredibly warm, welcoming people and we explored this spectacular country without being hassled constantly...
Walking Petra, Jordan November 2023
Переглядів 295Рік тому
We had plans to visit Jordan before the conflict in Gaza escalated and decided to keep to the itinerary and tick off this major bucket list item. Petra! Wow. We allowed ourselves two full days to explore and soak up this amazing place, and entered both via the main gate and through the back entrance from Little Petra. If you only have one day to discover Petra, take the back way. Get a transfer...

Despite global concern about the conflict in Gaza, we continued with our plans to visit Jordan in November 2023. As part of our adventure, we spent two glorious nights at the Dune Rocks Camp in the Heritage Listed Wadi Rum Protected Area. Spectacular scenery, and warm, welcoming hospitality made for an unforgettable experience.

We travelled to Egypt in November 2023 after much consideration due to the conflict in Gaza. A lifelong dream, we did not want to miss seeing the wonders that Egypt holds, so we kept to our plan and arrived in Cairo on 8 November. Crowd numbers were less than we were expecting, due to people cancelling, which was great for us, but not good for the Egyptian people who rely on the tourists - walk...
Fes or Fez, Morocco

Fes, Morocco is a fascinating must include on your itinerary. With a Medina of more than 900 streets, you are bound to get lost in this 9th Century maze. So much to experience and also a great stepping off point for important archaeological sites like Volubilis, and one of the gateways to the Sahara Desert.

Tangier, Morocco. Some say it isn't the authentic Morocco, but what is authentic? Home to literary and artistic greats, this fascinating city offers so much. Anyone wanting to explore Morocco, and all of her faces, should certainly include Tangier on their ...

The best of Morocco

We spent five weeks in Morocco and we are thankful the friends we made are safe after the earthquake in September. It was heartbreaking to hear of this tragedy and now, more than ever, the people who depend on tourism for their livelihood need tourists to visit and explore this fascinating country. In this video we give our impressions of six cities - Marrakech, Essaouira, Rabat, Fes, Chefchaou...
Essaouira, The Windy City, Morocco

Essaouira, the Windy City of Morocco is a relaxing, and cool, break from what can be some rather frenetic energy. After the busyness of Marrakech, our time in Essaouira was the perfect way to regroup and take time to reenergise. And if you are into windy watersports this is the place to be as kite and wind surfing are the key activities to enjoy in this laid back town. Also, seafood lovers will...

Antalya looks fantastic too. Unfortunately we don't have time to go but thanks for sharing your experience with us. Have subscribed and look forward to staying connected 😊😃 Ange
Awesome! Thank you! We are heading back to Australia next week, not sure for how long, but a return to Turkiye is high on our priority list. We think we might 'live' in Turkiye for two - three months of the year as the winter is just so lovely. We'd love to hear about your experience once you get here xx
Beautiful. We are heading there in May. So excited. Thanks for sharing your experience. Can I ask which balloon company you flew with and were you happy with it? 😊
Hi Kevin and Ange - thanks for watching. We flew with Anatolian Balloons, which was booked through our hotel (Angel View Suites). The hotel owner assured us he only books his guests with a reputable company, with pilots of experience. Our pilot had flown more than 1500 flights, was funny and we felt extremely safe. He even landed us onto the back of the trailer they use to transport the balloons and baskets! We loved the experience and we had a long flight - almost an hour - and also our flight was one of the few that flew to 1200 metres. I hope you enjoy your trip. We love Turkey and hope you do too. Cheers Cheryl
@Travelturtlesoz thanks so much for all the info. We can't wait for the experience. We did in Canberra and loved it but this will be a totally different experience. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Will stay connected 😊 🙏 Ange
